Fantastic

September 2015 - Casa Rosalia is a great location, easy walk to the beach.

Minori is a lovely village with a good beach.

Travel tips

  • Great coffee in the area and each day we would have a different pastry/cake. Delicious!

Fantastic

September 2015 - Casa Rosalia was obviously much loved by its owners, with many interesting collections and antiques on display. The view from the terrace is fantastic. The steps up to it are an effort, but typical of this area - you wouldn't get the view without them. Minori is a quiet and friendly place, not too dominated by English tourists.

The ‘caretaker’, Vera was very helpful, speaks good English, and comes every day to water the plants on the terrace - after politely asking if we minded. She lives close by, so was able to come quickly to help with a couple of problems we had working out how to operate things.

Travel tips

  • The little restaurant on the right at the bottom of the road down to the sea was very friendly, reasonably priced, with excellent home-made pasta.
  • In August, it was really nice to go down and swim in the sea after dark - still warm, but few other people on the beach.
  • Don’t miss the local excavations, close to the corner at the bottom of the steps for Casa Rosalia. It’s free and there is a little museum as well.
  • If you are traveling by train from Naples Airport, the bus to the station is not directly in front of the airport. You go to your left as you come out of the airport, then round to your right past a small McDonald’s, to a road-side bus stop (tickets obtainable on the bus). For 4 people, a fixed price taxi to the station costs the same as buying tickets on the bus.
  • We got to Pompeii by bus to Salerno, then train to Pompeii. Vesuvius was a bit more difficult, it was well worth getting a taxi to the Circumvesuviana station, to get the regular coach to Vesuvius. Long days, but both trips well worthwhile.
  • If you are going out for the day and coming back late, buy bus tickets for the return journey as well - the Tabacchi shops don’t necessarily stay open as late as the buses run.

June 2012 - We really enjoyed our stay in Minori, so friendly as opposed to Amalfi which was very busy.

The bus service to surrounding areas and towns was excellent and quite an adventure.

Casa Rosalia was all we wanted it to be though the bathroom and kitchen space has to be managed as it is 'cosy'.

Mr Alfonso and Anna [the owners] could not do enough for us - thank you!

Summer in Italy is a great agency and prompt responses. Freely offered advice.

Travel tips

  • Enjoy the deck and all the town has to offer.

September 2011 - I loved Casa Rosalia.

It was close to town, not too many stairs and the view from the balcony was fantastic.

I did like that the owners were easy to contact and returned my calls. They also went out of their way to meet me to return the bond.

Will definitely be recommending the place again.

Thank you.

Love your website and it made it easy to find places when I was looking to make a booking.

May 2011 - We enjoyed it very much, as you can guess from the above. Kitchen and bathroom are a bit cramped, but for just two of us, it was fine. Fascinating decorations!

An excellent service, still continuing with the newsletter. We looked for an apartment on the costiera, outside the main towns, and chose that one. We'll be back!

Travel tips

  • Shopping needs some thought. There is no real supermarket, and the small shops have a limited range, other than 1000 varieties of pasta. The bakers and pasticcerie are excellent.
  • For the buses, try to buy the blue 'residents' tickets, cheaper than the tourists red tickets! The buses are reliable, but get crowded - and choose the sea side of the bus.

September 2010 - Terrace ideal when traveling with a toddler like we did. Kitchen full of gadgets - unused and left by others I think - many pans, pots etc.

Can recommend Casa Rosalia with confidence.

Travel tips

  • The view makes all the steps worth while but travel light!
  • Bus stop very convenient as well as green grocers and other suppliers very close by.

May 2010 - Very easy and comfortable arrangements. Great location in the center of Minori.

Apartment really has everything you would expect in a furnished apartment. The terrace is fantastic - large, nice furniture, surrounded by lemon groves.

Overall a great base for vacation to the entire coast.

Very happy about booking process - stress free confirmation and helpful advice in information packet. Thank you for a great vacation, and will surely recommend your services.

Travel tips

  • Take the ferries when at all possible to go between towns - much faster and more comfortable than SITA buses.
  • Travel at night is difficult - buses end before 11 PM, and taxis are extremely expensive. We walked a few times from Amalfi to Minori at night, but probably not recommended.
  • Fun to rent your own boat for the day and explore coast.
  • A night out in Salerno is fun as well.

October 2009 - Very handy to everything in Minori including buses and ferries. Absolutely no need for a car.

The terrace is a great place to spend a few hours or more!

The owners couldn't have been more helpful and were there to answer questions and do anything that needed doing.

We thoroughly enjoyed Casa Rosalia.

Excellent easy to use website. All the help and suggestions were very much appreciated. Responses always came back very quickly and everything went to smoothly with our booking. We were extremely satisfied with the service and will recommend Summer in Italy to any of our friends planning a trip. All the tips in the newsletter were great too. Very many thanks to the Summer in Italy team.

Travel tips

  • In retrospect we should have gone just a week or so earlier than mid-October. the weather went from hot to quite cold very quickly and buses and ferries were on winter schedules. The upside, of course, is that the crowds had gone so getting around was easy.
  • When a taxi driver tells you it only takes half an hour to walk to Ravello DON'T believe him unless you're young and very fit! We gave up after 770 and later counted 1177 walking down another day. Take the bus up and walk down - it's certainly worth the trip.

June 2009 - Casa Rosalia was an excellent choice for an Amalfi Coast holiday base.

It is a beautiful apartment with an amazing view from the terrace where we spent a great deal of time.

It's very close to the Mediterranean and also the SITA bus stop as we used the buses to get around quite a bit.

Minori is a beautiful village and we would love to go back again one day. And of course, it goes without saying that we would be looking at Casa Rosalia as our home away from home when we do.

I booked through Summer in Italy because you had a very attractive website and was very good with your descriptions of properties and photographs. Also really enjoyed getting the newsletters leading up to our trip. Will definitely use Summer in Italy again if I am ever lucky enough to be able to return to Italy. Will certainly recommend to people if I happen to hear of anyone going.

Travel tips

  • The vegetable shops have the freshest and most flavoursome fruit and vegetables you will ever prepare and eat.
  • Most of any form of retail shopping in Minori should be done in the morning as sometimes the shops don't open until late and sometimes not at all.
  • Minori is home to ancient Roman ruins which is worth the visit, its just down the hill from Casa Rosalia and is free to visit.
  • Sita bus is the best way to get around but hair-raising, especially when you have your first trip. They can be very crowded too. Make sure you have your ticket prior to getting on and clock in when you board in the ticket validating maching behind the driver.
  • The bus stop is just down the hill from Casa Rosalia on the main road in front of the hotel.
  • Amalfi is 15 mins away and you can get around to Salerno, Sorrento, Capri and Naples by ferry.
  • Sorrento and Amalfi has excellent shopping.
  • Capri is expensive but worth a visit, especially if you want some sandals made just for your feet.
  • If you go later in the year, you can enjoy an evening concert in Ravello which is on the mountain behind Minori. Then if you are fit, you can walk down the well lit steps back to Minori. Or just catch a bus up and walk back down.
  • The entire Amalfi coast is particularly picturesque and my friend and I enjoyed every minute of our stay there.

September 2008 - Very convenient location (just some stairs), almost center of village with excellent view from terrace over city and bay.

Very helpful and English-speaking host.

We enjoyed it a lot.

Travel tips

  • If you don't know how Italians make coffee, better ask it first day from host - there is just original Italian coffee-pot.

July 2008 - Great hosts. There if you need them but otherwise it's your apartment.

Terrace was great. Did all our eating there.

The combination of location, view, and being in Minori was great.

If/when we go back we'll definitely plan to stay at Casa Rosalia.

We'll use Summer in Italy again. Everything was great from search, to booking, to follow up. Thanks

Travel tips

  • Confirm your phone will work and have enough Italian to make a pre check-in call work (or call Summer in Italy). Otherwise set a check-in time via email. When our phone worked our Italian didn't. And then the phones quit. But reception at Hotel Europa helped us make contact and get checked in.

June 2008 - Family of 4 had a wonderful week at Casa Rosalia.

Location is great, Minori is a very nice and quiet little town.

Terrace of the apartment is great!

Only minus is the mattresses of the smallest bedroom - should definitely be upgraded.

We will be back!

Everything was perfectly arranged for! Thank you!

Travel tips

  • If you do not like cats, this is not the apartment for you, the terrace is filled with them. But they are nice!
  • Rent a boat and make a day trip to Capri, great fun.

June 2007 - We loved staying at Casa Rosalia. The villa's terrace has a beautiful view of the sea, has lounge chairs and a table and chairs for alfresco dining. It is set beside lemon groves and is close to the town below.

The Roman Villa Marittima is close by and can be seen from the terrace.

The villa is close to the beach, restaurants and the parking.

The rooms were beautifully decorated in a traditional Italian style and it felt very welcoming.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this villa to everyone.

Great website and really helpful staff who replied immediately to any queries. Will use you again the next time we go to Italy.

Travel tips

  • The owner speaks great English and his wife and son a little. They are very helpful. You can also charter your own boat from them, which we did. Their son took us to Capri for the day and it was a fabulous way to see the island and coastline. Take a picnic and then go for a swim off the boat!
  • We also found the parking useful. Try to rent a smaller car as the roads are quite narrow, but we were able to explore a lot of the coast. We overheard many travellers complaining about the time wasted always waiting for a local bus.
  • A great restaurant in Minori was Restaurant La Botte and we always finished our night at Pasticceria De Riso enjoying a pastry and some limoncello.
  • If you always go to the same lido they will repeatedly drop the rental price on the sun loungers.
  • Definitely do the hike up to Ravello.

June 2007 - Yes, book it! It was a very nice holiday in a nice house.

The master bedroom was excellent but we were with 4 adults and the second bedroom was a children's bedroom and that should be good if the mattresses should be better. That was the only problem.

We liked the house and maybe we will come over for a second time.

We feel very good about S.I.I. It was perfect and you are very gentle and honest people.

Thanks a lot!

May 2007 - Walking into Casa Rosalia was like walking into someone's private home. It felt warm and "lived-in" because of all the beautiful furniture, well-equipped kitchen, pictures and collections of objects of all kinds, from china to cameras. We were 3 adults, and the accommodation was perfect for us. It would probably not be suitable accommodation for families with small children, because of all the small items lying around. However, it would be fine for older children, especially if you have the foresight to pack a few of your own CD's or DVDs.

Rosalia and Alfonso [the owners] were very helpful and friendly, ready to come up at a moment's notice if we had any queries.

The outdoor terrace was the best part, though, with a wonderful view of Minori, and this is where we spent a great deal of our time.

The 71 steps to the front door were definitely worth it.

We were recommended to you by previous clients, and were very happy with the service you provided, the travel information etc.

Travel tips

  • Minori itself was delightful, far more friendly and less crowded than nearby Amalfi but with enough shops and eating places for variety. The lemon groves all around the hills make it even more attractive. We knew nothing about Minori before our visit, but were delighted with our choice. There are excellent walks around Minori which give a variety of stunning views of the coast, such as the mountain tracks to Maiori and Ravello, or just around the Minori valley itself. The Roman Villa and Basilica are well worth visiting, but pleasantly free of crowds. The beach and foreshore are pretty but small.
  • If you want a change of scene it is an easy 20 minute walk by road to Maiori (or 5 minutes by bus), which is a larger beach resort with more shops.

April 2007 - We thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners Alfonso and Rosalia were friendly and helpful. Views from the terrace were stunning, it was an excellent terrace for sitting and eating meals.

For old and young the 71 stairs may seem a bit much, but that is Italy. Not so bad as the 2000 steps up to Ravello, but not a walk to be missed.

Good service and very easy to use. Will use you again.

Travel tips

  • Good bus service along the Amalfi coast, at least one an hour. Although sometimes subject to long delays because of the roads.
  • Restaurant La Botte very good and not expensive, especially the House wine and Chianti. Pizzeria Restaurant on pedestrian road going towards the sea very expensive and not friendly.
  • Minori is a good location and much more Italian than Amalfi and all its tourists.
  • Some lovely walks in the area, recommend using walks from www.sunflowerbooks.co.uk, Sorrento and Amalfi coast.
  • Great day trip to Pompeii, bus to Salerno, frequent trains to Pompeii.

February 2007 - Casa Rosalia was fantastic! could not have asked for better.

It was very comfortable and extremely well equipped.

As it was out of season when we went, there were not a lot of tourists about, but everywhere we went we got a very warm welcome. After long days out, we could go back to casa Rosalia and relax.

We found Summer in Italy very efficient and it was easy to book with you. We just sat down one night decided we wanted a holiday, found your web site and booked there and then, took no time at all and completely hassle free. We will definitely use you in the future.

Travel tips

  • We used public transport and found it easy and comfortable. We took the bus over to Pompeii early one morning and the views were spectacular.
  • Staying at Casa Rosalia gave us a real taste of Italy.

Unfortunately, Casa Rosalia can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
