We loved Casa Onda

April 2017 - We loved Casa Onda. The property itself was in great condition and we were very happy with it. All of the appliances worked well (and we used them all), and everything was very clean and comfortable. The location was great, in the middle of the hillside with a great view of the sea and town as well as the hills. We especially loved the outdoor terrace. We stayed here with our two small children and everyone was comfortable. We would love to stay there again.

Dolores [the caretaker] was very friendly and helpful and we would love to work with her again.

Summer In Italy was absolutely great to work with. All of the staff with whom we communicated were professional, friendly, and very prompt with their responses and information. Booking was easy, and when we had to make changes we were accommodated. We decided to use Summer In Italy because we had used them when we visited Positano before. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip in Italy.

Travel tips

  • We just love Positano.
  • The grocery store next door was excellent, we shopped there almost every day.
  • Via dei Gladioli is a good shortcut to the beach and center of town.
  • The Restaurant Da Vincenzo across the street was excellent.
  • You can hire a taxi to drop you off and pick you up right at the house, which is very convenient. We used Limousine Sorrento Renato Cuomo (recommended by Summer In Italy) and they were excellent.

Would definitely stay again

June 2016 - There are only 12 or so steps to get to this house - amazing in this area of steps, steps, steps!!

Property was clean and well appointed. Owner was helpful and friendly.

The kitchen area is very small, but has what you need. There were a number of pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc, a large fridge, small dishwasher, microwave, dining table inside (in case you can't take advantage of the terrace).

The terrace is small but really lovely and allows you to take advantage of the lovely views. The inbuilt charcoal BBQ and the outside sink were useful. Loved our evenings on the terrace!

The bathroom had a shower, toilet, sink and bidet. It got slippery when wet and try as we might, the bathroom always got wet when showering!

Very useful having a washing machine.

The location was great for us - 15/20 walk down to the main beach.

Parking was arranged by the owner - very useful.

Wifi in the house was good.

Would definitely stay again.

Travel tips

  • If you have a car, the owner can arrange for it to be parked in a 'garage' - we paid 20 euros a day for this. On arrival, the owner and a man from the garage met us, the car was then taken off our hands, and returned (within 10 minutes during daytime hours) when we called the garage. This was so useful as parking is very difficult! The garage is a 5-10 minute walk (downhill) to the house.

The views were spectacular!

May 2016 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Onda. The views were spectacular! The location was convenient to everything. The bed was a little firm, but we expected that being in Italy. The neighbors were a little noisy at times, but we had a wonderful stay!

Thank you Summer In Italy!!!

Very good

October 2015 - Casa Onda was perfect. It was quaint with a beautiful view of the hillside houses. It was well equipped and clean. We felt like we were living there rather than visiting. Like all places in Positano, it is a hike to get to but once there you are surrounded by restaurants and shops.

Mrs. Dolores [the caretaker] was very helpful and spoke great English.

Incredible! My friend recommended I look at your website. From that moment on I couldn't believe the service, helpful hints, immediate response. I got several links to apartments and lots of questions answered about how to get there from Rome. I would use Summer In Italy every time I come back. Thanks to Melanie also!

Travel tips

  • Use the porters for your luggage if you arrive by boat. They will bring it up the hill and leave it 10 feet away from the apartment.

May 2015 - Casa Onda is a lovely house, it's so quirky.

Its location is fantastic, I could live here. It has such a homely feel to the place and we honestly could of spent the whole week sat on the balcony relaxing.

We visited Positano for a wedding and a few couples who were in other properties visited us and were all of the same opinion, that the house is just delightful and would certainly book it again if visiting the area again.

Summer In Italy is a fantastic company would certainly use again.

Fantastic

June 2014 - Casa Onda is a fabulous holiday retreat.

In the town, close to an excellent deli and just up the road from the beach. The view is wonderful and the people friendly.

Travel tips

  • If you can pre-book any trips (eg Pompeii) before you go, do!
  • The local taxi "tours" are eye-wateringly expensive.
  • Likewise - going to Capri? At 12 euros for a bottle of Peroni beer, you may want to take a picnic!

Very good

May 2014 - We loved Casa Onda, it was very quaint.

Great location and the apartment was nice, clean and well equipped. We loved sitting on the terrace in the morning and evening.

The promptness of Summer In Italy staff was really appreciated as well as recommendations for accommodations. I will recommend you to my friends and family traveling to Italy. Thanks for your guidance.

Travel tips

  • Perfect location. The shopping near Casa Onda was great and you are only a 10 minute walk to the beach. You can shop along the way.
  • Recommendations for restaurants by Dolores [the caretaker] were fantastic, as well as her tips for visiting Capri.
  • We were close to wine shops as well as a small grocery with a nice wine selection, fresh bread and prepared food.
  • Our favorite gift shop was "Sweet Positano", the staff were so helpful.
  • We used Amalfi Car, this was also a great link for those not wanting to travel by car.

Very good

October 2013 - We loved our stay at Casa Onda. It is perfectly situated for Positano and especially as we had two weeks there. Easy access to other points of interest.

Summer in Italy is the best travel people I have ever dealt with.

Travel tips

  • Use the local supermarket, they are outstanding staff.
  • Eat locally as the local resturants etc provide as good as it gets in Positano without additional expenses.

Fantastic

September 2013 - Casa Onda was very good accommodation with a wonderful view of the bay and an easy walk to the main square and beach area.

It also did not have many steps (only 9) off the street down to the front door. There were many good eateries and a little convenience store close by. A bus stopped nearby which would take you on a circuit right around and above the town.

All in all a great place to enjoy a holiday.

Summer in Italy provided a great service. I was very happy with their fast response to any question and also their helpful advice and detailed instructions. I would book through "Summer in Italy" again.

Travel tips

  • This is a well located apartment on the main road not too far from the square and beach area.
  • It does not have wifi but the Cafe Casa e Bottega not far down the road does and I would check emails etc while enjoying a lovely morning tea/lunch.
  • Little shop practically next door has all the basics. You can catch a bus to a bigger "supermarket" up past the Sponda stop if you are staying longer as we did.
  • There is a restaurant up the hill called "Il Fornillo" that has lovley meals and is not as expensive as some of the others.
  • Buses to Amalfi/Sorrento can be unreliable. We visited Pompeii during our stay but spent 7 hours of the day waiting for buses and trains so I wouldn't recommend using this as a base for big trips. A good spot to relax and enjoy a break.

Fantastic

September 2013 - Had a wonderful stay at Casa Onda. We were very surprised how large the property was and the terrace in particular was huge, with fresh herbs and chillies to use with cooking. Fantastic views out to sea and across Positano.

Excellent service, could not have asked for more.

Travel tips

  • Local shop a couple of doors away - very nice, selling all you need with friendly staff. However, they do not take cards. There is another supermarket down in the town centre which does however.
  • Our favourite restaurant was Restaurant Mediterraneo, just a short walk back up the hill. Excellent food, service and live singing entertainment. Perfect.

July 2013 - We had a great time at Casa Onda. Everything was as expected. It's a unique place, but what we found is the location for us was perfect. Another level up might have been just a touch too far from the main center, and a level down would mean we would have had to walk up stairs for some of the best places to eat.

The AC was helpful on the 2 or 3 "sticky" hot nights.

Overall, we were very happy with Casa Onda.

Travel tips

  • Many of the best restaurants are on this street. Nothing against the ones down by Spiaggia Grande, but the servers are merely punching a clock. They don't need you, as someone else would gladly take your seat. Don't get me wrong, the service isn't bad... its just 100% joyless and robotic. The places near Casa Onda are full of personality and energy. Its a completely different experience.
  • The store nearby is more expensive than the others. It's great in a pinch... but easily 30-40% more for meat, fruits, etc. Go to the store at the halfway steps by the church.
  • Walk the steps every day if you can... as many times as you can.
  • The servers at Mediterraneo were fun... and there is live music there nightly. They do their best to make you feel like you are in Italy.
  • Do the Walk of the Gods... twice.
  • Take buses as much as you can... it's easy, just dive in headfirst to learn.
  • TAKE A DAY TRIP TO RAVELLO... you'll understand why once you are there.
  • Restaurant Il Fornillo: dinner pizza is easy, great, and cheap.
  • Enjoy the sounds of Gerry and Gigi at night from the deck.
  • Treat yourself one night to Restaurant Next2. It's outstanding.

Very good

June 2013 - Casa Onda is a charming apartment which we can fully recommend.

We were four people and there is no problem with one sleeping in the living room as the evening is rather spent outdoor on the terrace.

Travel tips

  • Best 3 about the apartment: the view, the foodshop 10 m down the road, the restaurants up the road.
  • Favorite thing to do: Path of the Gods - be sure to have the bus ticket before you go. The tourist information will tell you when the buses leave.
  • Not worth the day: maybe Capri... But the sights from the boat is very nice, also to Amalfi.

Fantastic

May 2013 - Enjoyed Casa Onda very much and had a very pleasant time in Positano.

The view from our terrace was lovely and the location away from the centre of town made sure we had quiet. There were several very good restaurants close by and a very convenient small store for fruits and drinks two houses away.

My experience with you was great, really liked the ability to check about details before arrival. Emily was very helpful for all questions. Certainly would recommend your company to friends.

Travel tips

  • Be sure to sign up for a walking tour with Christine O. She is recommended in Rick Steeves and our 2 1/2 hours with her were fun and informative.
  • Our day trip to Capri and Ana Capri was very good, but skip the Blue Grotto part of the circumnavigation of the island, which was excellent.

June 2012 - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Onda. The view from the terrace was so spectacular that we ate most of our meals up there.

We booked Casa Onda primarily because of the view and its nearness to activities in Positano.

Summer in Italy was a great help in recommending things to do and how to get around.

Travel tips

  • Rent a rubber raft with 40 HP motor and tour the coast line to the west. The rock formation views are spectacular, and there's opportunities to see dolphins.

September 2011 - I had a high expectation seeing the pictures before I arrived. But Casa Onda surpassed my expectations! The panoramic view from the balcony can not be captured in camera! You have to be there to believe it! It was amazing!

There was a grocery store very close by which was excellent!

We enjoyed our stay a lot and we are going back! My husband loved the apartment so much that he actually asked "is this one for sale?"

I am very impressed about the service. I will recommend to all my friends!

Travel tips

  • If you rent Casa Onda, you really don't have to "do" anything! You can spend seven days just sitting in the balcony!
  • The nearby grocery store is great!
  • If you have small kids, I advise to rent a car with driver to and from Rome/Naples and for day trips. It costs a little bit more but worth it!
  • One day trip to Pompeii and Naples and another one to Amalfi and Ravello is a must!
  • It's better and cheaper to pick up pizza from restaurant and enjoy it sitting at the balcony!

July 2011 - We have really enjoyed Casa Onda. We'd like very much its traditional "sea house" aspect, the lovely terrace and that we found the small things we needed for an enjoyable stay (soap, toilet paper, oil, salt, sugar etc) and we did not have to buy everything like that.

We would come back any time!

We were overall very pleased with Summer in Italy and we had a great holidays at Casa Onda. I would be happy to contact you again next year for another location on Amalfi coast -- we have fallen in loved with the region!!

Travel tips

  • At any restaurant with terrace you will pay for staying at terrace, so take the advantage of having one so nice at your villa.
  • There is a very nice shop next door open even on Sunday where you can buy nice food.
  • Also I'd recommend trying Mozzarebar few hundred meters down on the street.

June 2011 - We really enjoyed our stay as Casa Onda is in an excellent location in Positano, pleasant and easy stroll to shops, beaches and boats. It was spacious for 2 people and the terrace was wonderful - sunny, views, table and chairs plus deckchairs.

Kitchen, though small, was very well equipped including dishwasher. Great having a washing machine as well.

Local shop very close, great for daily provisions.

The decor with the sea theme and the local ceramic crockery was a very pleasant touch. We were very comfortable at Casa Onda and had a great time.

Travel tips

  • Take advantage of the variety of boat trips offered in Positano. We took a number of different short trips including a private trip down coast and out to Li Galli where I got to swim in some beautiful grottoes and another trip with a marvellous lunch included, plus used the ferry to Amalfi.

Travel tips

  • Good base for visiting Amalfi coast. Visit Ravello for sure!
  • Make plans on getting there. Take a taxi from Sorrento. 70 euros.

May 2011 - It was a great location and set up for our family.

The only tricky aspect was that there was no door on the shower and it was extremely small! Everything else worked out perfectly.

I have been hunting everywhere for an easy, well located apartment in the Amalfi coast and Summer In Italy had it! All our communications were very smooth and easy. Thanks.

Unfortunately, Casa Onda can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
