Just as we had imagined

March 2017 - It was just as we had imagined. Nice people, kind landlords and unique landscape.

We will gladly think back to our time spent there.

The sea view is wonderful

September 2016 - We had a wonderful week in Positano, staying at Casa Martina. The large patio overlooking the fjord is the main feature, the sea view is wonderful. It has basic provisions but everything we needed was there. All in all a lovely property in a convenient location, we just weren't quite prepared for the number of stairs in getting to/from the apartment on to the main road before the short walk in to Positano.

The owner was very helpful and gave some great tips (in English).

I've had a very good experience booking with Summer In Italy and would definitely use them again. I particularly liked the booking information pack that we were sent just before our departure, it's well written and is laced with lots of English humour! Well done!

Travel tips

  • Do take note of the number of stairs in the description, this is not an exaggeration. BUT do not be put off by this, it's a very conveniently located property despite this.

Excellent

July 2015 - We had the most wonderful stay at Casa Martina. It was like paradise.

The terrace was so tranquil and beautiful that we were reluctant to leave it. The apartment itself was fantastic, spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Luigi, Carolina and their son [the owners] went above and beyond to make our stay one of the most relaxing ones we've ever had.

Keep everything the same, you were the most wonderful hosts and we loved your beautiful apartment. We appreciate everything that was done for us and all the great tips we received.

Travel tips

  • Don't let the steps put you off, the location is fantastic with a beautiful view.
  • We loved Restaurant La Tagliata as a unique dinner experience.
  • We also enjoyed several pizzas on the beach from the brasserie there.
  • Don't be afraid of the public transport - it really works!
  • We also loved the walks from Positano and above the village - spectacular views and a great way to earn your dinner.

June 2015 - Casa Martina was spotless. The best accommodation we have had travelling in Europe this year (2015).

The host was friendly and helpful, he even provided us with eggs from his chickens!

Travel tips

  • Near Pompeii, before arriving in Positano, there is a large Auchan supermarket.

September 2014 - My friend and I stayed in Casa Martina in September. The apartment was beautiful and the terrace was lovely. Everything was clean and the owners very friendly. It is set in a beautiful location up in the hill.

We absolutely loved Positano and after such a good stay I recommended it to my parents who are intending to stay here next year.

Travel tips

  • I would say don't take too heavy suitcase as there are a lot of stairs up to where the apartment is situated.
  • Positano is very hilly and the steps to the apartment keep you fit!

Fantastic

August 2014 - We had a wonderful stay at Casa Martina.

The apartment was lovely with a huge terrace that looked out over the stunning views of the sea and cliffs. The apartment was very clean and had everything that you needed including Wi-Fi access which was great for keeping in contact with our children back in England.

The hospitality that we received from the owners and caretaker was fantastic. They made us feel so welcome and provided us with some basic supplies at our arrival and offered also some fresh products during our stay. We have never had such kind hospitality before and it really added to our holiday.

This is the first time we have booked with Summer In Italy and we would certainly use you again and recommend you. We received lots of useful advice and correspondence prior to our holiday including excellent travel instructions to help us use the local trains and buses.

Travel tips

  • Although there is no supermarket in Positano there is a good delicatessen which sells lovely bread rolls and cooked food that you can buy to take away.
  • There are many restaurants to choose from and you can also get wonderful take away pizzas from restaurants at the sea front for only 8 euro.
  • There are a lot of beaches within walking distance all pebbly so it is advisable to bring sea shoes to wear like the locals.
  • To get to our favorite beach you will need to turn left at the bottom of the apartment steps, walk for 400 meters and go down about 270 steps. It sounds a lot but it isn't too bad and the beach is less busy than the others.

Fantastic

August 2014 - Casa Martina is a lovely apartment with a fantastic view. However, quite a hike to reach it, edge of town, up a long hill, followed by 160 steps.

Owners helpful and donated fresh tomatoes and lemons often.

Organisation and correspondence with Summer In Italy were good and efficient.

Travel tips

  • Positano is beautiful but all the shops were very expensive.
  • The only butcher is particularly friendly.
  • Fornillo Beach is the better one in the town.
  • The nearest beach is down a huge number of steps.
  • It is worth renting a sunbed as beach is very stony to walk or lie on.

June 2014 - Our holiday at Casa Martina could not have been any better!

What a view, quite spectacular and so pretty.

Everyday Carolina would bring us either some fresh eggs or bread/butter/jam, which was very welcome.

The bedroom had air conditioning, which was also an added bonus as it was very hot when we were there.

We would highly recommend Casa Martina for a peaceful holiday and can't thank Luca,Carolina and Ciro enough for their hospitality. A big thank you for a wonderful stay in your property. Thank you.

All I can say to Summer in Italy is thank you. For both the care and advice you gave before our holiday and suggestions for trips when we were there.

Travel tips

  • It is a bit expensive to easy out all the time, but the cooking facilities in the villas are good.
  • There is a great butcher in the village (next to the lemon shop) also a baker and deli which have what you would need.
  • Remember there are approximately 160 stairway steps to the Villa from the main road.

Fantastic

July 2013 - My wife and I loved our stay at Casa Martina for 1 week in July.

The owner was extremely accommodating, even providing us with fresh tomatoes and basil! The Casa does have internet which was helpful for planning some of our outings around Positano.

Initially we were a little worried about the distance into town. Don't be! The walk down to town is very quick and walking along the road is very safe since the cars travel so slowly anyways. The hike up is a bit strenuous when loaded with luggage, but was nice after eating a large meal in town :-) The location also made us feel much more secluded, which was great when Positano filled up with tourists on the weekend.

Overall would definitely recommend this property!

Travel tips

  • We found that Positano fills up on the weekends, but was much quieter during the week, even during the middle of July.
  • Definitely try and have dinner one evening in Montepertuso. We ate at La Tagliata and had an amazing experience. They even provide a free shuttle service to pick you up in Positano.
  • We had a great outing on a boat tour along the Amalfi coast with L'uomo e il mare.
  • Casa Martina is nicely situated for hiking the Path of the Gods.

June 2013 - Casa Martina was absolutely perfect for us, wonderful view, well stocked kitchen with wonderful coffee machine and the owners even provided food! Cereal, bread, tea, coffee, milk, butter - we had everything we needed. One particularly nice touch was to come home from a day at the beach to find a bowl of freshly picked apricots in the kitchen for us. We were well and truly cared for whilst we were there.

Travel tips

  • As with most places in Positano it is up a lot of steps, but such a beautiful walk that if you needed to stop along the way, the view and the flowers would make for a pleasant pit stop.
  • It is close to 3 beaches, we tried them all and found the one to the left the quietest and most pleasant, but also the most steep to get to and from.

September 2012 - Casa Martina is in an unbelievably beautiful location: about a ten minute walk from the centre of Positano. This means pottering in and out of town is completely do-able but be prepared for the steep walk home!

The views from the apartment are absolutely amazing and the size of the terrace from which to enjoy them has to be seen to be believed! It really is a heavenly, peaceful, beautiful spot. The apartment is a good size for a couple and the thoughtfulness of the owners is second to none and makes a huge difference.

Practical things: The shower is very powerful and very hot. There's a decent hairdryer in the bathroom. The coffee machine is excellent. The coffee supplied by the owners is truly delicious! There's loads of hanging space for clothes. The place is easy to keep cool and free from flies. The owners make up the bedroom for a couple - i.e. with a double bed - as required - and its really comfy (not always the way in hot countries where the locals don't necessarily share the Brits' view about double beds).

The friendliness of the owners is really amazing and makes you feel so relaxed and welcome. We were given gifts of eggs and a lovely welcome pack - completely unexpected and really appreciated on arrival. The host even carried our bags up the stairs from the main road to the house (and found us a rare parking space!) Really, really unnecessary but again really, really appreciated in the heat, which we were of course still getting used to!

Everything about this part of Italy is brilliant; scenery, food, art, wine, weather etc., but to find this place among all that beauty is a real treat.

Both the bedroom and the living room have doors opening onto the terrace, and waking up to that view is just the best way to start the day.

Given all this, the price for this apartment is a snip.

Travel tips

  • Definitely worth the walk up to the village of Montepurtuso from the house. Its a steep climb but worth the effort for all the beauty you spot along the way.
  • Obviously Capri and Amalfi (cloisters particularly) are must-see.
  • The best restaurant in Positano has to be Restaurant Lo Guarracino which is a bit of a walk around the cove but again worth it. Best seafood and pasta we found in town and at a fraction of some of the prices. Also you sit out on a beautiful wooden balcony overlooking the sea - perfect as the light changes. Also the staff are really friendly and nice. We met the owner on the first night and he later came to chat in a bar when we bumped into him, and he invited us along to a club with his friends - really everyone is so chilled and friendly!

September 2011 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Martina and had a fantastic week, Positano is a fantastic place to visit and the Amalfi coast has so much to go and see. Positano in general is not a cheap place and we felt this accommodation was excellent value for money.

Positano is built off the side of a cliff, and any accommodation in this price bracket you can expect to be quite high up that cliff. Any residence down in the town is significantly more expensive, but definitely not better. Casa Martina is set just above the main dividing road running through town. It takes 15 minutes to walk down the hill to the beach, with many amazing restaurants and bars on route. The bus stop is only a short walk. Most accommodation in Positano involves climbing many stairs to reach it. This accommodation would not suit anyone unable to comfortably climb up steep hills and many stairs. To be honest, those comments could be echoed for Positano in general, as within town there are very steep hills and many stairs to tackle daily.

The accommodation is lovely and clean, well looked after, peaceful and quiet and equipped with all the basics necessary for a good stay. It fits 2 people very well and has a third bed if necessary. Cooking facilities are very basic. It does overlook the sea but the views are restricted somewhat because it is set round a slight gorge in the mountain. This doesn't take anything away from it. At this price, I don't think you will find better in Positano.

I would definitely recommend it.

I found your company very helpful and the service throughout has been excellent. The website made out that all accommodation was Saturday-Saturday, but on contacting you I found this wasn't necessarily the case and you were quickly able to find me many great options. I would happily use your company again.

Travel tips

  • Take a bus ride along the coast to Amalfi, the views are amazing all the way along.

August 2011 - We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks stay at Casa Martina. It is super clean and well looked after and really handy for getting to the centre of Postino.

Luigi and his wife [the owners] made our stay very memorable by giving great tips on where to go and things to do, and little touches like occasional fresh towels and bedding, freshly laid eggs and helping dispose of rubbish were so incredibly sweet.

Would highly recommend! Thanks for a fantastic time :-)

Travel tips

  • Positano is hilly so be prepared for some walking! But it all adds to the charm.

Unfortunately, Casa Martina can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
