Excellent apartment

July 2016 - Casa Katia B near San Donato in Poggio is an excellent apartment for 2 people to stay in and use as a base for exploring both the local area and further away.

The apartment is very good, and the surrounding property is beautiful. The pool is great - large and with good furniture - but is not suitable for small children. The whole property has spectacular views of the countryside and vineyard. Recommended with a couple of reservations regarding maintenance of the property.

Travel tips

  • We visited Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, San Gimignano and several other wonderful places.
  • It is only 5 minutes from the main Florence to Siena road, and 15 minutes away Poggibonsi has a large supermarket and a main line train station.: San Donato in Poggio is 10-15 minutes walk and has several very good restaurants and bars, a small supermarket and some other shops.
  • A hire car is definitely needed.
  • Take the train to Siena or Florence - excellent value and saves trying to find affordable parking.
  • Come prepared for mosquitoes.
  • There is no oven or grill, just 2 electric hobs.
  • The vineyard produces excellent wines.
