Second year in a row!

June 2019 - This was our second time in two years staying at Casa Ilnira in Nocelle, and we were not disappointed! This place is great and has one of the most beautiful views in the world! The people are nice, the accommodations are clean, the breakfast was lovely and the bed was comfortable.

Location is far enough away (just above) from Positano that you were able to have some quiet time as you looked out from up high upon the scenic cliffs that are a beautiful combination of natures beauty and a man's will to be innovative at building homes for their family along the cliffs.

The sunsets over the ocean and the cliffs are a thing that should be in everyone's dreams and have been our phone screen photo for two years and we feel very fortunate to have been able to stay here twice in our lifetime.

Travel tips

  • Must do the hike down to Positano one day, great for exercise but also for amazing photos and to see a snapshot of how people live along the cliffs – but might want to take the bus back up to Nocelle for 1.30 euro each.
  • We enjoyed local dining in two different places in Nocelle up the steps a bit, and the view was amazing – make a reservation or they sit you where you do not quite have as good a view and the views are worth seeing while enjoying nice wine and good food.
  • In Positano, we had amazing service and bought lots of linen clothing for my husband and me at Idillio.
  • There is a great little market on the way to Case Ilnira where you can buy mellon, meats, cheese, and wine for a chill out kinda day.
  • Bring comfortable stable footwear if planning on hiking. There are lots of stairs all over Nocelle and Positano is very hilly so not recommended for people with bad knees.
