June 2015 - Couldn't have asked for a better location.
Casa Gennaro was very spacious and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay there and it would be our first choice when we will return to Positano.
We would strongly recommend Casa Gennaro to anyone wishing to stay in the best part of Positano (except when we want to come back!).
The owner, Lara, was very welcoming and helpful during our stay. Thank you Lara for all your help. We loved staying in your fabulous apartment and we WILL be back! You have a little gem there!
Thank you guys for all your very useful assistance. We will definitely recommend Summer In Italy to anyone travelling to Italy and will certainly use you when we come back again.
Travel tips
- Casa Gennaro is very well situated for the many excellent restaurants and bars along the beachfront/quayside.
- Very helpful shop just round the corner who will deliver directly to the apartment!
- The boat trips from the quayside (to Capri and Amalfi coastline) were great value and well worth doing.
- Pompeii by public transport (bus to Sorrento and local train stopping right outside the entrance) was inexpensive and fun to do and worth the effort.

June 2015 - We all had a fantastic stay in Casa Gennaro.
Everything we needed was there. The location was fabulous and not to many steps. Would highly recommend staying there.
The staff at Summer In Italy are brilliant. They were so helpful and made the booking very easy nothing was too much trouble. Once again thank you!
Travel tips
- The restaurants are lovely with great food and very friendly staff. The shops are amazing take plenty of money. The beach is not sandy, very tiny stones, good idea to take sea pumps to walk from your sunbed and straight into the sea.

September 2014 - Casa Gennaro is a great apartment for 3 couples, we stayed there for 5 nights. Excellent location, steps away from the beach and town center.
Travel tips
- Public transportation works great.
- We used the local bus to get to Sorrento and the train to Pompeii.
- Took the local bus to Amalfi and the ferry back.

October 2012 - Excellent location: close to main street, buses, restaurants and beach.
A wonderful informative landlady, Lara. She was incredibly helpful, pleasant and made sure that our stay ran smoothly.
A great apartment for a family or couples. Lots of room. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need.
I recommend renting through Summer in Italy. Very reliable and safe.
Travel tips
- There are 2 small, well-stocked grocery stores nearby.
- There are stairs, so not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.
- Bring your bathing suit... the beach and the sea are great. Highly recommend the smaller, quieter Fornillo beach, a 10 minutes walk. Chair and umbrella rentals are cheaper there. We never paid more than 6 euros for both.
- Suggestions: day trips to Sorrento for shopping and and Ravello for the gardens (both accessible by public bus) and Pompeii.
- Lara [the owner] can arrange a trip to Capri.
- The "Walk of the Gods" is magnificent... and not as difficult as it sounds. About 3 1/4 hours from start to finish.
- Eat at Restaurant Mediterraneo on live music night.
- Highly suggest Renato Cuomo for car with driver service, especially if you are traveling from Naples to Positano. Very reliable and reasonable.

July 2012 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Gennaro. Our host Lara was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was well stocked and in an excellent location. The unit was very spacious and the verandah was fabulous.
You were efficient and professional.
Travel tips
- Sit back relax and enjoy all Positano has to offer.
- Wait and book tours locally as it can turn into a very long day if a tour does pickups all along the coast.

June 2012 - Casa Gennaro is one of the best apartments that I have ever stayed-in. It's really relaxed and more like a home.
The land-lady Lara has made sure that you get the perfect feeling of coming to a nice and cosy home (and not just an apartment). Casa Gennaro has everything that you could think off in a mature, well-kept house.
Location is perfect, 50 meters to the beach. It doesn't have the best view to the sea, but the garden terrace and the convenience of being in the town-centre where most of the restaurant and bars are present, compensates much more than that.
In one word, Casa Gennaro is fantastic.
Travel tips
- You must try the trip to Capri with the landlady Lara. She usually give EUR 5 discount to their apartment guests, but more than that it's the experience worth every penny.
- Try renting scooters in Capri and swimming in the blue-water cave.
- It really doesn't matter much if you are there with your rented/own car or using the public transport/boat. To me both seems to equally work fine. On one hand, your own car gives your convenience of timing, on the other hand, boats/public transport are rather cheap and are better experiences view-wise.

Highly recommended.
The whole thing was just organised really well. Will be sending some referrals through for friends to come and use the website. Thanks for all your help.

October 2011 - We really enjoyed Casa Gennaro. We had 3 generations and it was perfect for us all. Really well fitted out and made to feel welcome from the start with a welcome package etc. very friendly and helpful people.
Travel tips
- All you could hope for. Really central. Close to the beach and ferries. Excellent for those with children.
- Terrace is a godsend and great for people watching!
- Owners are really helpful and speak good English.
- Try to carry own luggage as porters are a rip off.
- It's not hard to find and all down hill.
- Have some shoes made in Positano - I didn't, as I thought I'd have another opportunity, but I didn't!

September 2011 - Casa Gennaro is a lovely apartment and has been designed for comfortable easy living. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
It is ideally located to the beach, ferries, shopping restaurants and bars. A ten minute walk up the paths and stairs gives you access to the local buses taxis and hire cars.
The advice support and help provided by Lara [the owner] who as far as I can tell is fluent in a number of languages was fantastic.
Travel tips
- Be prepared for a very relaxing stay and make sure you take your swimming gear!
- Take advantage of the various tours available and the local buses and ferries are a great way to see the adjoining villages on the Amalfi coast.
- Listen to Lara's [the owner] advice as she really is a wealth of knowledge on how to enjoy your stay in Positano.

I'd come back without question when I return to glorious Positano.
You were incredibly helpful, with great tips, thoughtful suggestions, and quick replies. I will definitely recommend (and have already recommended, in fact) Summer in Italy.
Travel tips
- You must be in shape to climb a lot of stairs, both to the apartment and all around town. We loved it, though -- helped us work off all the delicious pasta and gelato!

August 2009 - We enjoyed the spacious apartment with the lovely outdoor verandah covered in bougainvillea and views towards the sea.
The accommodation was very spacious and splendidly furnished with an excellent air-conditioning system.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Gennaro in the beautiful town of Positano. Everything was lovely, including fresh flowers in every room when we arrived.
Summer In Italy were very helpful and we would use them again. Thank you.
Travel tips
- The steps up to the apartment are quite steep with no lift.
- We really enjoyed the trip on Tuesday evening to the restaurant recommended by Lara [the owner] at the top of the mountain. They will pick you up as part of the evening.

June 2009 - Location at the bottom of the town near the Spiaggia Grande is excellent. The amenities of the apartment itself, particularly the air conditioning were excellent.
There were some negatives. There is a fish monger in the plaza outside the building and the front door area always smelled like dead fish. Fortunately this did not permeate the apartment itself. There is also a trash dump outside the kitchen window so you cannot open the windows on that side of the house due to the smell. Note: To be fair, when using the air conditioner you are not really in need of opening windows.
The terrace is lovely, particularly at night. However, the use of it was limited due to the heavy mosquitoes.
The view of the ocean is limited.
The support and service provided by Lara the caretaker were excellent. If you are going to stay in Positano then this is a great location.
Travel tips
- Il Ritrovo in Montepertuso was a great restaurant as was Bruno in Positano. Il Grottino Azzurro at the top of Positano was also excellent. The guide books are not accurate on the cost of most restaurants in Positano. The three I mentioned are excellent and great value.
- For dessert and music La Zagara is wonderful and close by the apartment. Music on the rocks is a nightclub but fun and interesting. Go with your 18 yr old kids. It is not frowned upon.
- Fornillo Beach is much quieter and less expensive than Spiaggia Grande and the Pupetto section has the best service. You can get a discount on beach chairs if you don't need to be in the front.
- Using the buses in Positano is a must. Take the time to learn about them. Bus to Sorrento for a couple of euro is worth it. You will spend plenty of money in Positano on the food so save your transport $$$!
- Try the Sorrento Cooking School for a fun day.
- One day to Capri is not enough, particularly if you take a tour which only has four hours on the island. Tour around the island is beautiful especially on days when the Blue Grotto is not open.

It was very spacious and relaxing. the kitchen was great. We made dinner a few nights we were there ad ate on the terrace, which was huge!!
Laura, who checked us in and out was very helpful, and made herself readily available which was really nice of her.
Thank yo so much for the beautiful place to stay!!!
I really like Summer in Italy. The transactions were very smooth as well as the communication. I even called a few times and everyone I spoke with was wonderful!! Thank you!!

May 2008 - Casa Gennaro is a great property in a fantastic location.
It would be difficult to find a better vacation apartment in Positano.

October 2007 - The whole fabulous experience in Positano was accentuated by a great apartment in a great location supported by great owners. Summer In Italy set the scene with great service.
We had 6 travellers (2 couples and 2 singles) who were well accommodated and able to make the most of a magical town/region.
Travel tips
- Positano is a pricey place. You can eat well at home with the best food outlet 1-2 km up the stairs.
- Pompeii is a great day trip (all day) that you can get to easily by public transport (bus and train) for 5 Euro in 2 hours or taxi for 140 Euro but time limited.
- The bus trips up and down the coast are great value at 5 Euro a day - Amalfi, Vietri and Ravello are pick of the crops.
- Local wine is good.
- Gennaro's boat trip to Capri is a buzz.
- You can be kept very busy for a week.

April 2007 - We had an excellent holiday and were very impressed with Casa Gennaro.
Everything was exactly as previous guests had written. Lara [the owner], who is half English, made sure we had everything we needed and the equipment supplied for cooking, cleaning and towels etc was second to none. It was certainly a real home from home.
The location near the harbour was ideal and we enjoyed watching life on the steps or in the little square. It was easy to get around especially by boat to Amalfi and to Capri which we did as boat trips. We also took the bus to Sorrento then train to Herculaneum. Otherwise we just enjoyed Positano, the steps, the church bells, the shops of linen dresses and lemon soaps. We felt more in contact with the town than we would have done in a hotel and it was a lovely overall experience.
We will use again in future and recommend to others.
Travel tips
- I would suggest getting the Positano porters to take your bags up to the house for you. We did not know how far it would be from the taxi stop or that there would be 2 flights of stairs. The cost is 6 euro per bag and we think it is worth it. For our taxi we used Claudio Lucibello and he was excellent and cheaper than other quotes.
- The 2 local grocery shops are a little limited and a bit expensive. There is a cheaper one at the top of the steps opposite the apartment and they have excellent local wine at 1 euro a bottle! Their cheeses and salamis etc are also better. We bought lovely meat from the town butcher but it was eye-wateringly expensive. The fish from our very doorstep was excellent value and quality.
- We ate out in Bucca di Baco and Chez Black which were both 5 star quality. The little beach bar in Fornillo was our favourite for pre-dinner drinks. Best town ice-cream was Bucca di Baco stall and we did a lot of sampling - we counted 5 ice-cream shops in the town !

October 2006 - We had a wonderful week in Casa Gennaro. We loved the location. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the terrace and looking at life on the street below from our private viewpoint. We also loved looking at the constant people traffic on the steps opposite us. It was lovely to have a view of the Bay and, of course, the boats.
The house was very clean and very well supplied with kitchen equipment. The bedrooms were roomy and very pleasant. It was a bonus for us to have beach towels and hair-dryers. We also loved the fresh flowers in every room when we arrived. Younger members of our party appreciated the TV: we had brought our own supply of books but it was good to have such a varied supply of paperbacks.
Lara [the owner] was extremely helpful in organising porters and transport. All in all, a wonderful experience and we hope to return some day.
for a great Positano experience. We found Summer in Italy through a search engine - probably Google. It's an excellent site and provided us with really useful information.
Travel tips
- Local shopkeepers were very friendly and on two occasions, carried our food shopping back home for us when they heard we were staying in Casa Gennaro.
- We had great meals in Buca di Bacco and Le Tre Sorelle. We enjoyed Max and Chez Black but found them quite expensive.
- The public bus to and from Sorrento was unreliable.
- No need to bring beach towels and hair-dryers but do bring plenty of mosquito repellent!

September 2006 - We booked the apartment for a week for our family as we were attending a wedding. We found the property extremely clean and well maintained and fully equipped for a large family.
There were some very nice personal touches like fresh flowers and some basic supplies left for us.
The location was excellent very close to the beach, port and restaurants and although close to the town very quiet in the evening.
It was helpful to us that the owners of the apartment were very friendly and spoke fluent English, and on occasions booked transport for us.
We would be happy to book again if we return to Positano.
We were very happy with the service received from Summer in Italy, and as far as we are concerned this could not be improved. We found the site by a random search on the internet, but we would certainly recommend Summer in Italy in the future.

May 2006 - We had rented a number of apartments for my family and friends to stay at for our wedding. This apartment was the best in terms of location and conveniences.
It was a two minute walk to the beach, restaurants and shops were right outside the apartment - yet it was still very quiet and private.
The apartment was fully stocked with supplies so you didn't have to go to the store to buy little things like soap, plastic wrap, spices, cleaning products, etc. Plus, there was an abundant of linens and towels.
The owner was always accessible and very willing to help us.
We have a big family and this was the apartment that everyone hung out at since it was so close to everything and had enough space to accommodate the family for every meal. The actual apartment is much more spacious and cleaner than what appears in the online photos.
Some guests of the wedding opted for apartments with better views. However, I believe the location of this apartment made this place more desirable than most.

September 2005 - I would recommend Casa Gennaro for anyone visiting lovely Positano. The apartment was spacious, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were huge. The kitchen was very well equiped as well. The terrace was beautiful. The view of the water was great and we got a kick out of hanging our laundry out on the terrace, as if we were residents of Positano. Wishful thinking!
We were 6 people total, but Casa Gennaro had more than enough room to let each of us do our own thing. The living room was cozy and inviting. But, for me, the terrace was the best! That is where I spent most of my time when not being out and about.

September 2005 - The location of Casa Gennaro is excellent - just a couple of minutes from the beach, yet also near the main pedestrian streets with their shops and restaurants. It's easy to find small grocery shops, walk to the buses and walking paths, walk to the ferries and so on; whereas some of the houses in Positano are really very demanding (from time and energy) to walk to.
It is a very roomy house, the best aspect being the huge terrace.
The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming.
It has the feeling of staying in a lived-in and loved home rather than a holiday house.

September 2005 - Casa Gennaro was a very well sited house and spacious and airy. It was great to have such a well equipped kitchen (washing machine, iron etc) and a couple of living areas. Lara, the owner, had perfect English and was very helpful and approachable.

June 2005 - The location was ideal as it was quiet and yet only a short walk to the beach and local amenities. We found the Casa Gennaro well-equipped and comfortable, particularly the beds, and the balcony is perfect for 'people-watching'.
Lara [the owner] was an excellent host, discreet but always available to help us any of our queries or problems. We would certainly recommend Casa Gennaro to all our family and friends.
We would also recommend the taxi driver who took us to Naples Airport. Claudio Lucibello was very punctual and polite. He had a clean, tidy car and was an excellent, safe driver.
You have a very friendly and professional service and we were extremely impressed with the whole experience. We would like to thank you for helping us after we had problems with our flight and couldn't arrive until the day after we had arranged.

October 2003 - We have just returned from a wonderful stay in Positano, staying at Casa Gennaro.
The accommodation well exceeded our expectations, infact my 9 year old son reckons his bed on holiday is more comfortable than his bed at home!

September 2003 - Our time at Casa Gennaro was incredible. It started with the wonderful welcome we received upon arrival.
As soon as we arrived to the villa we noticed wonderful flowers in every room. From the moment you enter the villa, you can feel the warmth and care of the people who put it all together.
Throughout our stay we had constant contact with the owners who helped us with all kinds of questions we had, such as recommending points of interest and places to eat, arranging for the transportation etc...
We also enjoyed the day trips with Salvatore and Gennaro around the Amalfi coast.
We would recommend the stay in Casa Gennaro to anyone who would like to visit and get a flavor of the paradise of Positano. We are looking forward to coming back to Positano in the future, and if and when we do, Casa Gennaro will be our first choice of stay.
