Amazing view!

October 2018 - Amazing view! The furnishings are rustic, kitchen very well equipped (we cooked several meals here), washing machine was very handy, along with the drying rack and clothespins, but did I mention the VIEW? Book this place NOW!

Host was sweet, punctual, and very helpful. Great host Anna!!!

I would use Summer In Italy any time I could! Their info was spot - on and done in a humorous way. Great company!

Travel tips

  • Do not be put off by the vertical situation of Casa Gabi upon arrival. You are in the middle of Positano, high up on the hill. Casa Gabi is located on both the SITA bus and the Interno Positano bus lines. So go to the little local shop (the yellow one, go left as you leave Casa Gabi) and buy either bus ticket there (and the bus stop is there too).
  • This shop has friendly family owners. Go to the back and get some meats and cheeses!
  • There are public steps down to the main piazza right next to the shop, or you can grab the bus.
  • Splurge meal: we totally enjoyed Adamo ed Eva in the Eden Roc Hotel, which is walkable from Casa Gabi. Made same day reservations on The Fork.
  • At night, look out the "back door" of Casa Gabi and see the tiny lit up church!

Great location with phenomenal views!

October 2018 - Great location with phenomenal views! We will definitely stay again!!

Pretty much what you would expect overall. I did not expect an elaborate inside - let’s be honest, we chose this place for the views, and they did not disappoint. It was great! Expect A LOT of walking, we knew what to expect so nothing really caught us off guard.

Travel tips

  • We went down to Positano every day.
  • If you enjoy free Wi-Fi, the Paradise Lounge Bar provides that.
  • Collina bakery was our favorite morning spot for cappuccinos and a quick breakfast.
  • We found that the pizza was the best. I am Italian and my family has amazing pasta recipes so I wasn’t as impressed with the pastas. But if you get a chance try literally all of the pizza places. We did that and it did not disappoint.

Very comfortable, clean and functional and offers an authentic feel of a local residence

September 2018 - We enjoyed our stay at Casa Gabi. The description of the property was accurate. Overall the house is very comfortable, clean and functional and offers an authentic feel of a local residence. The views from the house are wonderful!

We loved the tile floors. The bed was comfortable (typical Italian - more firm than average USA mattresses) and we slept well. We could hear vehicle traffic and voices of walkers on the road, but this was not unpleasant. We could also hears waves breaking on the shore far below! The washing machine was very useful, and the fold-up drying rack worked perfectly. The bathroom and kitchen were small but they served their purposes.

The owners met us for check-in and were very friendly and helpful, and everything was clear. Thank you for your hospitality during our stay at Casa Gabi.

The reservation process was easy and clear and there was good communication with Summer In Italy. We are very happy with our experience.

Travel tips

  • Transportation between Casa Gabi and Piazza dei Mulini: the Positano Interno bus (EUR 1.30 per trip, buy tickets at the Tabacchi shop right by the main bus stop near Piazza Mulini) will take you up from town to a stop (just past the Laboratorio Artistico wood shop) near Casa Gabi, then you walk 200 feet up the road to the steps that go up to the house.
  • There is a mini mart about 300 yards down the road from Casa Gabi.
  • Right next to the mini mart there is a stairway that leads down into town, and this is the easiest route to town. We also took these stairs up from town on several occasions.
  • We had two wonderful meals at Restaurant Da Costantino - highly recommended.
  • For the fit vacationer, there is a beautiful loop hike that starts on the “Via Grado” to Monte Pertuso, and links up with paths/stairs to Caserma Forestale, Santa Maria del Castello and from there back to Positano on a descending stone path. The beginning of “Via Grado” is right across the road from the mini mart mentioned previously.
  • We recommend a day trip to Amalfi. The "Amalfi Lemon Experience" tour was excellent, very informative, fun, friendly and tasty.
  • We also recommend going up to Ravello from Amalfi for the beautiful gardens.
  • We had a wonderful lunch at Ristorante Raffaele which is part of the Hotel Parsifel in Ravello. Dining is on a terrace with a stupendous view down to Minori and Maiori.

June 2018 - Incredible views from the terrace and balcony. The house is spacious and bright. Walking distance to everywhere (with a lot of stairs of course).

All in all, the stay in Casa Gabi exceeded our expectations.

The owner Anna is very friendly and flexible. Our stay in Casa Gabi was excellent.

Your service has been excellent before and during the trip!

Travel tips

  • There are mini-markets and bus stop in the neighborhood.
  • We liked the walking paths both uphill and downhill.
  • If you are not afraid of stairs, you can walk to downtown and beach.
  • La Zagara is a very good restaurant/snack bar.

The view from Casa Gabi is surreal!

May 2018 - The view from Casa Gabi is surreal! We instantly knew that we had lucked out and determined that the best view would always be back at "home".

We spent several meals on the terrace because of this and found it really hard to force ourselves to go anywhere else! Highly recommend this rental! Such an incredible value for the space and the view!

Great booking experience and excellent communication. Thank you so much!!

Travel tips

  • The mini markets nearby are wonderful and very accommodating! It was nice to be able to prepare some meals at the rental with the provisions found at these stores!
  • Closing the shutter doors on the other side of the french doors really helped block out light and sound on the nights that we needed good sleep.
  • Having the washer was a big help and we were surprised to find that they had Wi-Fi available too.

Didn't want to leave!

May 2018 - Our time here was amazing and we didn't want to leave! One of the best views I've ever experienced, just far enough from the town for peace and quiet and plenty of space for two people. We will definitely look to book Casa Gabi again if we are lucky enough to visit Positano again!

Very welcoming hosts, provided us with all the information needed to have a great time.

We loved our stay here

October 2017 - We loved our stay here. The view is spectacular and the location can't be beat.

The owner of the house was amazing and the single nicest person we met on a two week trip in Europe. The owner and her husband personally helped us get from the bus stop (the wrong one mind you) as well as our bags to the rental using just a scooter. It was pretty impressive. You were wonderful!

Summer In Italy is very responsive and was very helpful in giving us the information we needed to know ahead of time about not only the rental but overall lifestyle and things to expect about Positano as a whole.

Travel tips

  • Highly recommend Restaurant La Tagliata for a nice dinner. I would recommend going before the sun sets so you can take advantage of the lovely view. They provide a bus to come get you from the closest bus stop to your location as otherwise getting there would be a bit tricky.

The views are incredible

September 2017 - Casa Gabi is the perfect rental for two in Positano. The views are incredible and definitely worth the walk from the center of town. The house is also very close to a few lovely grocery stores and the bus stop.

I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a perfect spot away from the noise of the city center.

Our host, Anna, was lovely.

Very nice

May 2017 - Casa Gabi is a very nice, large-scale house with a terrace and two little balconies and a very beautiful view of Positano and the sea. Five-minute-walk to the bus stop, grocery stores and the stairs to get downtown. A car is not needed.

Very kindly and lovely owner. We felt very fine in Casa Gabi and would like to return. Mille grazie, cara Signora Anna.

Very good support from Summer In Italy! Thank you very much.

Travel tips

  • You can reach all the beautiful villages of the area by bus - Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento, etc.
  • Some beautiful hikes/trails start or end from/in Positano.

We can only highly recommend this house

May 2017 - We (my wife and I) are quite experienced with holiday apartments since every year we make this kind of holiday twice (almost always in Italy). All in all we had never experienced something nicer than Casa Gabi in Positano, so far.

The magic of the Amalfi Coast, from Sorrento to the Gulf of Salerno, is always a catch, even if you have visited this coast several times, with its small but mundane places. Positano is the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. Unlike for example Amalfi, Positano still remains authentic. The old town, around the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, has many small artisan shops and chic boutiques. Positano is known for its own fashion style.

The 'summit' is Casa Gabi though. The terrace and balconies offer an incomparable view, from the top, to the whole place. You sit, as in a huge amphitheater, up in the middle in the best place. From there you look down to the church, the beach and the old town, but also all around the villas of Positano, which seem to adhere to the rocks like swallows. The balconies seem to float above the valley. All in all, this memorable experience will have you overlook the modest furnishing of the house. We can only highly recommend this house. Arrivederci Positano!

The hosts meet you like only in Italy they do, with a refreshing and natural friendliness. They are very helpful but leave you completely in peace.

Travel tips

  • You can completely forget your own car and parking in Positano. The distant car park costs between 25 and 40 Euro per day, depending on the size of the cars.
  • The bus stops very close to Casa Gabi.
  • There are several 'Alimentari', which offer wonderful fruit, vegetables and almost everything for daily use.
  • As for buses, for only 1.80 Euro you can go around the entire Amalfi Coast, from Sorrento to Salerno. An unforgettable experience that should not be missed. It is best to find a place at the front of the driver's seat. Who has weak nerves should first take a sedative!

Really lovely house

June 2016 - Casa Gabi is a really lovely house with an amazing view of Positano and of the sea. Although it is a bit noisy because it is located close to the road we still felt very comfortable there and had a good sleep.

The hosts are also very nice and friendly.

Travel tips

  • There is no Internet Wi-Fi in the apartment but don't worry, you will find it in almost every bar and restaurant in Positano and also at the beach.

It is exquisite!

June 2016 - If you have never been to Positano nor Italy then finding Casa Gabi could be quite adventurous. But after you get there, you will not want to leave.

The house has, in my opinion, the perfect view of Positano. The balcony gives you a view of the entire town, left to right, east to west! I took the local bus on several occasions and walked more stairs than I think most visitors do and everywhere I went there are beautiful vistas of Positano, but non matched the one from out balcony. The kitchen and bathroom are small, but for as many times as I've traveled to the old country, I'm used to this and never, ever have a problem with it. My wife and I have already said, having seen views from all over Positano, when we go back (and we will), we are going to make travel arrangements to make sure and stay at Casa Gabi. It is exquisite!

You will read in other reviews that there are stairs, everywhere. That's just Positano. It's a cliffside fishing village that's turned into a vacation hotspot over the years, for both foreigners and Italians alike.

Our hostess Anna was wonderful. We arrived earlier than expected and she was more than gracious to go out of her way to meet us a couple of hours early to let us in to Casa Gabi. She gave us a complete rundown of how things worked and places to go and how to get there.

You guys did great and kept us well informed and provided all the information we needed to get ready for Positano. Cinque stelle!

Travel tips

  • I would tell future guests staying at Casa Gabi to heed one piece of advice. You ready? Here goes... Pay the extra money for air conditioning if you have a problem with noise. Yes, noise. We stayed in early June and the weather was amazing. We slept with all the doors and windows open all night. It felt amazing, but my wife got bit by mosquitos, that's normal for Positano. The reason I recommend the air conditioning is because early morning, when the workers in town are doing their thing, you can hear everything. From the electric skill saws, the roosters and the early morning cars/scooters, you can hear them. You are in a canyon and echos are to be expected. I've saw signs around town advising not to scream from the balconies, as I would expect visitors might want to do, because your voice will most definitely be heard. So if you want to close the door to your personal balcony, close the door to the living room, and turn on the a/c, then I'm sure you'd block out much of the noise. As for us, it was welcomed. I assumed that's what all Positanesi awake listening to and I believe it to be part of the experience.

Views are incredible

May 2016 - Views are incredible. Higher up in Positano, right in the center of town, looking down directly on beach, church and town. Two balconies and a terrace put views front and center throughout the home. Even the bathroom had a nice view! Really incredible!

Very friendly owner, thank you Ms. Anna!

Well done! Thanks!

Fantastic

October 2014 - We lived Casa Gabi, it was PERFETTA!!! I would return there every year if I could and I would also recommend to friends.

The location was perfect and the views... They were beyond what we expected, beyond breathtaking. Casa Gabi is in a windy road where the buses pass but that's pretty much everywhere in Positano which I loved.

I will always use Summer In Italy for my travels! The response was so quick and informative and professional. I have recommended to all my friends who travel. Five plus plus stars for service!!

Travel tips

  • There is some traffic noise but not enough and too late to keep you up so don't believe the noise is too much. You are in a small town that echoes don't expect to have silence as if you are in the middle of nowhere.
  • There's a grocer within walking distance and the steps to center of town.
  • Our advice to those who have the courage - rent a scooter for the week. We went everywhere in town on our scooter including Amalfi and Sorrento.

September 2014 - We really enjoyed Positano and Casa Gabi was a good place to stay.

There were a lot of stairs and the road outside was quite noisy. The kitchen could have been better equipped.

Summer In Italy was very good and helpful.

Travel tips

  • The apartment is quite far away from the port and beach so be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing stairs.
  • There is a good little mini-market half way down.
  • The local wine which is served at restaurants is delicious and not expensive.

Excellent

June 2014 - I had a magnificent 3 week stay at Casa Gabi.

Everything was perfect for me - the unit, the view, and, of course, the owner Anna.

Everything in the unit functioned perfectly and Anna was fabulous - from her welcome when I arrived to her sweet goodbye (and from her parents also) when I left.

I cannot wait to return!!!

Plus, everyone at Summer in Italy was super helpful and a pleasure to work with! Thank you for being so patient and helpful with me. You helped me select the right unit for my stay!!!

Travel tips

  • Bring binoculars. From Casa Gabi, you have the most spectacular view over all of Positano and the sea.
  • You will want to sit on the balcony and just enjoy it all.

Unfortunately, Casa Gabi can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
