August 2009 - Lovely place, very friendly and helpful owners, provided a welcome pack and wine tasting evening and helped to organise our activities.

Convenient for Siena, which is lovely, and Florence.

Nice pool.

Travel tips

  • Nice pizza cafe 4 km away in woods.
  • Take advantage of free guided tour of Siena, organised by owners.

July 2008 - We loved it. Casa Fatina offered a spectacularly beautiful base from which to explore this area of Tuscany.

The hamlet environs are exquisite - it is a bit like living in a National Trust property here in the UK.

The pool is large and with great views all round and being somewhat set apart from the accommodation, offered an extra measure of safety.

The centro storico of the nearby town of Colle Val d'Elsa is one of the loveliest (if lesser known) in the area and had all the facilities one could wish for. Children will enjoy the lift to the new town. Siena is also within easy reach.

Paola [the owner] was very welcoming and warm. She is doing a great job with these apartments.

Very good service - I appreciated being able to ring when our plane was delayed and did not have the local details to hand. very efficient and solicitous throughout. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • If visiting Siena, follow the signs for parking at the Fortezza which offers an easy route into the city.
  • Be sure to visit Monteriggioni which is only a short distance away and also Casole d'Elsa which is very pretty.
  • The restaurant in Scorgiano (within walking distance) is very good and modestly priced.
  • For groceries, there is a large COOP in Colle with good parking and a playpark nearby for children.
