Very nicely situated

August 2017 - Casa Antioco is very nicely situated. The house was clean upon arrival and everything seemed to be in working order. There are very few amenities in this house so be prepared to buy laundry detergent and basic cooking items like salt, olive oil, etc. The air conditioning works well and there are some extra blankets and pillows provided.

Summer In Italy was great and we will recommend to our friends. Very good at responding to inquiries quickly.

Travel tips

  • Restaurant Da Vincenzo was our favorite restaurant.
  • All the shops carry the basics but the shops on the opposite side of town from the house seems to have a wider selection.
  • If you have to purchase beach towels do it from a shop on the main road.
  • Fornillo Beach is easier, cheaper and less crowded than Spiaggia Grande.
  • The main road although busy with traffic is easier to navigate than the stairs although less direct.
  • Without a map of the town you can find your way around but if you are visiting for the first time it can be confusing.

A really lovely view

June 2017 - Although the location involves some significant stairs, Casa Antioco is quite nice and away from the beaten track, with a really lovely view over the water and down the coast. The terrace is especially big and nice. With a little more attention to the details both inside and out, this place could really be fantastic on all counts. Even as is, I would stay here again.

Fabrizio [the caretaker] is super friendly, gracious and helpful.

So ideal for a relaxing stay in Positano

June 2017 - Casa Antioco is so ideal for a relaxing stay in Positano. It is in a perfect location close to shops, restaurants, and beaches. The highlight of the property is the amazing terrace that provides the most incredible view of the sea. One member of our group even slept on the terrace each night! We will definitely refer this property to friends!!!!

The property manager was very gracious and informed us about everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.

Summer In Italy was so easy to book through. They communicated well and we felt completely informed to arrive to and depart from our property. And overall great experience!!

The view was outstanding!

May 2016 - Loved the location, the view was outstanding. Brought our binoculars and watched everything all day. Great kitchen with basic supplies. The washer was our savior. Loved the bedrooms and the bathrooms too. Celebrated the wife's 60th birthday in style.

The housekeeper was great welcoming us in.

We loved the location and lack of booking difficulty.

Travel tips

  • Only 257 steps up from the center so enough to reach without sweating.
  • DON'T DRIVE. The SITA bus and ferries worked great.
  • Bring binoculars.
  • Go to Fornillo Beach, more scenic.
  • Take a personal boat ride (10-12 people) to Capri, worth the money.
  • Take the ferry for a day trip to Amalfi since the SITA bus is slow and packed.
  • Enjoy the view and cook in.
  • Montepertuso and its hole in the wall is a must but get good local directions up the right steps.

So nice!

May 2016 - Casa Antioco was so nice, the patio is breathtaking.

It was our first time in Positano, and the location couldn't be more perfect. Minutes to restaurants, cafes, market, beach, and shops. We did not need a car our entire stay.

We will definitely be back.

Travel tips

  • Visit the wine and cheese shop just past Café Positano.
  • Il Capitano and Da Vincenzo were amazing restaurants!

Very good

August 2015 - I have very mixed feelings about Casa Antioco. First of all some things are really great. I am third time in Positano and can say absolutely the location of Casa Antioco can not be better. Everything is close by, and not too difficult to reach - not too many steps to climb. Second great thing is the view from the terrace - fantastic! Another great thing is AC - cold! Important in August! Now about the house and the terrace. Terrace is really big, but first impression shabby and dirty with mixed nice pieces of furniture and some really horribly old and rusty. House is big also but cold and unwelcoming. Only one room is nice - the master bedroom with master bathroom. On the other hand the house has absolutely everything you need. Another thing I did not like there is not a person who you can contact during your stay - you have to do it though the agency, which I found a little inconvenient. I don't think I will choose this house again but I definitely can recommend it to other guests for its location, beautiful view and everything provided for a reasonably comfortable stay.

Love Summer In Italy! Thank you for everything you did for me! I booked with them several times and every experience has been absolutely fantastic! Professional, reliable, helpful, fast to respond to any questions. They even arrange my tickets for Ravello's "All'alba concert", which was not easy. They basically made my dream vacation to come true. Can not thank them enough.

September 2014 - We loved our stay at Casa Antioco.

We lived on the expansive outdoor, covered terrace. The views were stunning!! The master bathroom with jetted tub also offered the same stunning view.

The location is over 250 steps from the beach, which was daunting at first, but became enjoyable as the week went on, and we slowly sauntered back home at the end of the day to the incredible terrace.

Summer in Italy is AMAZING! The service, comprehensive information and assistance made our trip perfect. Thank you so much. We have already told several friends to check out your website.

Travel tips

  • We really enjoyed the food and service at Restaurant Da Vincenzo, just up the steps, on the road.
  • We took a boat to Amalfi and a bus up to Ravello for a stunning lunch at Restaurant Villa Maria.
  • Chez Black disappointed with its service.
  • If you have any amount of luggage, call for a porter to meet you! We really struggled with our suitcases.

Fantastic

July 2014 - The things that make Casa Antioco really special are both outside - the terrace and the view.

We spent virtually all our waking hours on the terrace - admiring the view, eating, reading, sun-bathing, playing cards and enjoying the view some more. The sofa and armchairs are new and very comfortable - ideal for an afternoon snooze. The loggia covers two thirds of the terrace so there is always shade. Sun worshippers can top up their tan in the other third until the sun dips behind the hills in the late afternoon. The two bathrooms are very nicely done with lovely tiles and good equipment and the main bedroom is comfortable. We used the second bedroom for storage so can't comment on the beds. The apartment is simply furnished and would benefit from a few home touches - paintings etc - but we spent so little time inside it really didn't matter.

The location is perfect for an uninterrupted view of the sea with no road noise. As is clear in the description, there are a lot of steps, but we didn't find this a problem (we are mid-50s and reasonably fit). The first 30, from the apartment to the main pathway, are the toughest as they are steep and of varying height.

Will we stay there again? Without doubt. It's perfect for the Positano experience.

Excellent service from Summer In Italy, from first contact onwards. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Book Positano porters to carry your luggage if you don't fancy lugging cases up and down steps.
  • Fornillo Beach is quieter than the main beach and great for an early morning swim and coffee.
  • All the cafes there have free Internet access.
  • If you enjoy an energetic start to your day, walk up to the road and then take a lot (around 400) steps down to the beach. Come back the 'easy' way, along the coast path and up a mere 230 steps.

June 2014 - My family of 5, all adults, loved Casa Antioco.

The place is clean, spacious and you cannot beat the view! It surpassed our expectations and if we were to go again, I would not hesitate to rent it again.

We read other comments prior to choosing Casa Antioco and yes, the stairs can be challenging, but we embraced it and it was actually part of the fun.

The place was wonderful and we want to say thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us.

My sister in law recommended using you and we were pleased with Summer In Italy! Thank you for your awesome help!

Travel tips

  • You do not need a car.
  • Have your luggage delivered to your property.
  • Day trip to Capri on chartered boat shared by 15 guests
  • Careful as you may not get to see the Blue Grotto if it is crowded and other guests are not interested in waiting...

September 2013 - Loved the location and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend Casa Antioco and very happy to go back.

Great to have washing machine and outdoor cooking area, beach towels and spare linen etc. Very homely atmosphere and so wonderful to be able to have breakfast and dinner on the very large balcony overlooking the sea and extraordinary views.

Great service, would not hesitate in recommending to use Summer in Italy again and recommend to others. Couldn't have been more helpful. Summer in Italy was recommended by a friend of a friend who was also very happy with the service.

Travel tips

  • Great for 2 couples.
  • Beware that one bathroom didnt really have a shower only bath/spa and hand held shower but was okay if you don't mind sharing the other showere or sitting in the bath with a hand held shower.
  • Be aware that it is not a hotel, it is homely but with all the facilities you need for a great relaxing holiday.
  • Ask for extra garbage bags and be clear on what you need to to do with what and when.
  • Make use of the local porters to take your cases down the 150 steps to the villa.
  • Enjoy and soak up the local atmosphere.

August 2013 - We loved Casa Antioco, it was just what we were hoping for. Private for a town location, with a beautiful view and space for outdoor cooking.

Though there are a lot of steps to the town centre/beach this means no cars so our(older) kids could wander off safely to get ice cream.

Summer in Italy were very helpful and attentive. You answered all my questions promptly, and booking was easy. Would definitely book with you again and probably will!

Travel tips

  • Grocers shop up the steps and down the road, 5 mins were really helpful and do fantastic take away meals too.
  • Favourite beach was Arienzo beach, 10 euros for a water taxi return for 5 of us.

Very good

June 2013 - Casa Antioco has an exceptionally large and beautiful terrace, which is where we spent all of our waking time when we weren't at the beach or touring the area.

The kitchen was well stocked and set up so we could prepare a few simple meals. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and the apartment was very clean when we arrived.

We had a very positive experience with Summer In Italy throughout the entire transaction. The website was easy to search for properties based on location and desired amenities. Any time we had a question, it was completely answered clearly and right away. I appreciated the personalized service and attention to detail that the company seems to make an effort to provide.

Travel tips

  • We used Positano Limo Service for transportation to and from Naples - Lucio was easy to communicate with and both of the drivers we had were very nice. Upon arrival, the driver dropped us off near Caffé Positano and from there the apartment was only about 50 steps down. We were travelling with our two children and we each had one small suitcase which we could easily manage on our own so if you don't have large bags, you likely don't need to hire a porter service to get your luggage to the apartment.
  • When we arrived the apartment was still being cleaned so we enjoyed a nice lunch at Ristorante Da Vincenzo which was a wonderful and relaxing start to a fantastic week in Positano.

Fantastic

May 2013 - The terrace and view were well worth climbing the steps for and are just as pictured. You can reach the apt from the beach via 170 steep steps or about 270 less steep steps from the road. If you exercise regularly, you shouldn't have a problem with the steps. (We are in our early 50's)

The apartment was well appointed with 2 good hair dryers, robes, iron and modern appliances. It also had basics like soap, cleaning stuff for kitchen, olive oil, etc.

I was very satisfied with the booking process and had no problems. Any questions were answered quickly & staff was very helpful. We would certainly book again and recommend to others.

Travel tips

  • For shortcut up to the road, go left from the apt, then take the first set of steps on the right (no sign). It leads to Da Vincenzo (best meals we had) and other restaurants. Past the restaurants to the right is a small grocery. Make sure you try the eggs, buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, tomatoes. At bottom, Delikatessen and meat shop next door had the best panini.
  • Take the local bus to Nocelle to begin Walk of Gods path. Turn around at top of path to Praiano and walk back. Path to Praiano has little view and is down many steps.
  • Hike to Il Buco from square in Montepertuso: it was a steep, 20 minutes, but has a great view through the hole in the rock. Do lunch at La Tagliata for the view -- won't be the best food ever, but nice experience. Fill up on the starters and pasta, the grilled meats are mediocre at best.
  • Walking tour with Christine of Discover Positano is good orientation.
  • Make sure to use the porter service for your luggage, it's well worth the 8 euro/bag.
  • We used Positano Car Service when leaving for train in Naples with stop in Pompeii and were very happy with the service (about 240 euro for 4 hours).

May 2013 - We have not stayed in Positano before so cannot compare to other local. By our travels around the world, Casa Antioco 3 and 1/2 star with 5 star views, very clean and well presented.

Medium walking distance to the village, restaurants at your fingertips, wonderful small supermarket with alcoholic beverages, a short walk. Lovely host

Highly recommend and have done so to our travel agent.

Travel tips

  • The village is a healthy walk but we are not the fittest and did it easily.
  • Shops all the way back to the Villa, restaurants everywhere, highly recommend Café Positano.
  • Steps everywhere but that is Positano, 130 up and down to the main road. If you cannot climb/descend steps be very careful where you book.
  • Casa Antioco, would do it again anytime, loved the room/bathroom with the bath! Standing in the bath with the handheld shower, windows open to the sea, fantastic!
  • The huge outdoor patio is great, we felt very spoilt when we saw some others around us.

October 2012 - It is the classic Positano experience. Casa Antioco is simple but clean, tidy and well presented. The balcony is huge and is what the place is all about - sitting, dining, relaxing and enjoying the view. The view is brilliant.

It is well located close to restaurants and is very close to the action. Beware the stairs - there are 241 stairs up from the beach and 35 down. You do get use to them but the road is easier, if not longer.

The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Travel tips

  • If you arrive by ferry, make sure you know where you are going before you drag your luggage with you.
  • Of an evening we tended to head up stairs to the restaurants above the villa, they are closer and it is easier to get home.
  • Limoncello and the balcony go well together of an evening.

September 2012 - Our stay in Positano was magical due in part to the amazing view from the terrace of Casa Antioco. We lived on the terrace which was absolutely perfect! The villa is high enough to get beautiful views but low enough to feel like you are almost on the sea. Also traffic noise was not an issue as it can be at some other locations.

Kitchen was a galley concept but opened into living room so felt larger.

Bedrooms were large for European standards but minimalist in furnishings.

Villa owner was very helpful.

The people at Summer In Italy made our trip! We were in a bit of a bind after our first place fell thru (not booked with Summer in Italy). The Summer In Italy team was quick to find several places from which to choose. We received advice on modes of transportation that all proved to be "spot on" for our needs. Next trip to Italy will be booked thru Summer in Italy!

Travel tips

  • Be in good shape for Positano and ready to get your cardio daily. You will be walking and climbing steps everywhere you go, but you must do so to enjoy the true local flavor of this part of Italy.
  • Loved local Restaurante il Capitano with its roof-top location and amazing panoramic views.
  • Take a day trips to Montepertuso high above Positano (a very short local bus trip via local bus), eat at Restaurante Scirocco -- best bolognese I've ever had
  • Go to Ravello via Sita bus to Amalfi town, eat at Villa Maria and taste Limoncello from Ravello's own limoncello factory. Return via boat to Positano. It will be a perfect day!

September 2012 - Great location, 5 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. Plain accommodation but would stay there again. Outdoor space was used everyday.

Travel tips

  • Don't be put off by the number of steps to reach the property. There wasn't as many as we expected and if you take them slowly one at a time they are no problem.
  • Easy location to walk to the harbour and board a ferry to Capri for the day.
  • We wouldn't bother with a rental car next time. Only used it once to visit Pompeii and we could have bought an excursion. Parking in Positano cost us 120 Euros and this was at a discount after the owner negotiated a deal for us which was appreciated.

September 2012 - I just loved it Casa Antioco. The owners are very obliging. The view magnificent. The villa is well equipped. I could stay for weeks on end if I could afford it.

The outdoor area is perfect and as a family of 5 adults we lived out here for a week.

Convenience stores fairly close and plenty of restaurants near by.

Summer in Italy website was one of the easiest I had to use during a 6 week trip around Europe. My booking was really about the properties that you had available but you had the best description, maps and photos so made it a lot easier. The booking process was very simple. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared for the 175 steps down from the street and 250 up from the beach/town. But don't let it stop you from staying here because the view made it worth it.
  • If you are not used to the heat then avoid peak summer.
  • Make sure you go to Restaurant La Tagliata, at the very top of Montepertuso - they will make sure you have a great night.
  • Hire a boat for a day and check out this coastline from Positano to Amalfi just beautiful.

August 2012 - We absolutely loved this villa. The location to the beach and up to the restaurants is perfect. There are a lot of steps but not unmanageable. The view is perfect.

There is a tiny grocery store seconds away.

We started in Rome, and toured for two days. We then came to Naples, and stayed at the water. It was beautiful but one day was enough. We took a taxi, 130 euro, to Positano, and that was a good idea. We took a direct rain ride from Rome, so we never needed a car. Took a taxi back to Rome and stopped at Pompeii on the way. Not worth it unless you dedicate a whole day to tour and get a tour guide. We weren't there long enough and weren't sure what we were looking at. We went back to Rome and finished sight seeing what we missed the first time. The Vatican Church is a must see. Go at 7.30 am and there are no lines!! Colosseum is also a must see.

Travel tips

  • The main beach costs 15 dollars per person to sit. If you go to the smaller beach it is 7.00 a person and the restaurants serve you on the beach.
  • There is a little boat with a red fish that takes you to another small beach. Worth the trip. The boat ride is free and the food is great.
  • Take the boat tour to Capri.
  • Take a cab to the start of the Path of the Gods and do the 2 1/2 hr walk. It is breathtaking.
  • Didn't love Amalfi, but Ravello is beautiful.
  • Husband and son rented scooters, and loved it, but be careful.
  • You don't eat until after 9, and the meal is an event.

August 2012 - Casa Antioco was the best holiday apartment we have stayed in.

The terrace was out of this world with fantastic views and beautiful outdoor furniture. There was no need to rush out as we could cook, eat, relax and sunbathe on the terrace. There was always something to watch as there were many boats coming and going on the sea below the terrace.

We were very impressed with all the information sent to us. Everything worked like clockwork from the time we landed in Naples. There is an airport bus to Sorrento which leaves from outside the departure lounge which we used which made our journey very smooth especially as it connects with the bus from Sorrento to Positano. We would definitely use Summer in Italy again if we wished to return to Italy another year. Thank you for your efficiency and professionalism, it gave us great confidence in your organisation.

Travel tips

  • People do need to be quite fit and agile as the apartment is reached down a number of steps from the only vehicle road in Positano. Porters are helpful to carry luggage. The beach and centre is also only reached via many steps.
  • There is a very good general store at the bottom of the steps and if stocking up with groceries they will carry them up to the apartment for you.
  • There are two or three decent restaurants near the beach although we mainly used the cooker on the terrace for our main meals.
  • There is a wonderful fresh fish shop at the bottom of the steps.
  • There is a bus that goes along the coast road but we used water taxis - more expensive but a wonderful way to see the coastline.
  • A trip on the ferry to Capri is well worth taking as there is plenty to see and do on the island.
  • We didn't need to go far as Positano is an amazing experience in itself. There is a good tourist information office which can provide maps and bus timetables.
