The Madonna of Loreto is the patron saint of aviators, so it's fitting that the Historical Museum of Aeronautics is placed in the town of Loreto.

It's the only one of its type in Italy, with more than 100 original pieces; in some cases, the only ones remaining. The museum covers the history of the Regia Aeronautica from its beginning in 1923 through to the present. There are uniforms, flight equipment, interpretive displays on the Air Force, WWII and the post-war period. Something special to see is the annual blessing of aviators on December 12.

Admission is free.
