Fantastic

August 2013 - We had a very comfortable and enjoyable week at Casa Brea. The owners wee very friendly and made us feel at home. The apartment was tastefully decorated and very cool despite the hot summer weather outside. We were there in the middle of a hot summer and never needed to use the air-conditioning once.

The apartment was very quiet when all the glass doors were shut. The noise from the nearby Autostrada was evident but not annoying.

The view from the patio/garden overlooked the town of Chiavari, and Portofino could be seen if you looked to the west.

Overall, my wife and I would recommend Casa Brea to all our friends and relatives. We will certainly consider staying there again on our future trips to the region.

Travel tips

  • If you go there in the summer season, and you want to go to any of the beaches close by, we recommend you drive down to Chiavari and park the car at the railway station and then catch a bus to the beach of your choice. Parking anywhere near the beaches is next to impossible.
  • A day trip to Genoa by train is a must. Again, leave the car at Chiavari railway station and hop on the 40 minute train ride to Genoa.
  • A drive along the coast from Chiavari to Portofino is very enjoyable. This will take you through the towns of Rapallo and Santa Margherita. Stopping at one of these places for lunch or a gelato is very pleasant. There is no guarantee that you will be able to drive all the way to the village of Portofino. Once the carpark is full, the queue is long and hot. If you have never been to Portofino, the wait is worth it!

  • Restaurant Lord Nelson Pub in Chiavari is fantastic -- not cheap but excellent service and super food.

Unfortunately, Casa Brea can not be booked at this time.
