November 2008 - We had a wonderful stay in Villa Valeriana. The view is absolutely magnificent and the owner, Lorenzo, was so helpful. He went out of his way to help make our stay enjoyable.

The Villa is very comfortable and extremely clean. It was well supplied with amenities. It was a delight staying there.

It helps if you are in good physical condition and like to hike as it is a walk to get anywhere. We recommend a car, which we did not have. The information Summer In Italy supplied for the Villa was very good. We just didn't realize how difficult it would be to get around without a car. Our fault, you warned us. The view won.

Travel tips

  • We should have had a car and we were advised of that, but didn't pay attention. Walking to Marina della Lobra is enjoyable if you are in good condition. The walk up to the road was too strenuous for us, but keep in mind we were 4 senior couples.
  • Tony, the grocery store owner, in Marina della Lobra was also very helpful.
  • We took a boat from Marina della Lobra to Capri with a very enjoyable captain, Evon, "The Prince of Capri".
  • The restaurants in Marina della Lobra served delicious pasta and fresh fish. We especially enjoyed Restaurant Da Michele.
  • The owner of the Villa, Lorenzo, went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable.

July 2008 - We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Valeriana.

The villa was immaculate and tastefully decorated. The view of the sunset was spectacular.

The only negative was the lack of parking for our car (a 9-passenger van).

Everything went so smoothly! Other than parking issues at our villa, we had NO problems and loved every minute of our trip. Thank you!! I was nervous using an Internet site to book the villa and was so pleased that it worked out so well. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Sorry to hear about the parking troubles for a 9-passenger van! Indeed, the area is best suited to small cars. To future guests: if you plan to hire a large car or a van please do be in touch with us before you do to make sure that it will be OK. We know a lot about the area and can help you make your plans! ;-)

Travel tips

  • Definitely walk into the marina daily to Tony's market for the freshest bread and cheese that you have ever had in your life! Also, have Tony recommend Antonio's boat for a day trip to Capri: my children thought it one of the best days of their lives!

October 2007 - We loved it. Having four identical bedrooms was perfect - no one got better accommodations than the other.

The house was spotless.

Lorenzo [the caretaker] was great and very engaging.

There are 60 steps down the house and nearly 70 going to the beach. It isn't a place for anyone with a disability.

We'd go back in a heartbeat.

We booked with you because it was recommended by my travel agent.

Travel tips

  • You do need a car or a car/driver.
  • Get a cell phone because there isn't one at the villa (in case of emergency especially).
  • Buy soap for the washing machine and for the bathrooms.
  • Buy a Euro 5 ticket for the bus before you leave Sorrento.

July 2007 - We enjoyed Villa Valeriana very much.

It was great to be able to walk to lots of amenities and the shop and restaurant owners were helpful and considerate.

Travel tips

  • Make sure the car you rent is tiny as driving and parking are tight!
  • The restaurants in the port of Massa Lubrense are all good and it's just a short walk along the ocean.
  • Trips to Sorrento and Positano are a must, beware the afternoon lull in Sorrento when the shops close up.
  • Capri is great for swimming on the other side of the island by the coves, for this you need to go to the port in Positano to rent a boat with skipper for the day. Well worth the price, and the skipper picked us up and dropped us off in Massa Lubrense.

Unfortunately, Villa Valeriana can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
