Excellent
September 2013 - We loved our stay at Villa Silvestre B. It was more than expected.
My wife would go out in the morning or midday and pick some figs or grapes or zucchini for our meals. The view was breathtaking from our patio and each bedroom.
Mr. Franco [the owner] was a charming man and very helpful. Occasionally he would bring us some fresh produce he had just picked.
Only issue was parking, which requires a small car in order to make a U turn to leave. Road is narrow and parking is tight.
Overall experience was excellent. Would highly recommend and possibly return again in future.
Travel tips
- Sant'Agata is a small town with plenty to offer. Butchers, grocers, fishmongers and produce vendors for all your needs, even a supermarket. Plus many restaurants for locals and visitors. A small little pizza shop with only two small tables, sold superb bread and offered a great cannelloni.
- The restaurant Fattoria Terranova near the villa was outstanding. Both the food and extraordinary atmosphere.
- A 15-minute drive took you to a small but beautiful little beach at the Marina del Cantone., with attached "snack bars" serving wine, calamari, prawns and varied pasta. Beer also on tap or bottled.
- Sorrento is a 20 min. drive and Positano only 30 min. away. Can't beat the location.

Very good
August 2013 - Lovely tranquil villa. Mr Franco, the owner, comes to meet you in St. Agata when you arrive to show you the way up to the villa which was great, it is not hard to find when you know where it is.
The apartment is part of a several accommodations and, although not advertised in the villa description, we had the use of the pool in a nearby complex. The nearby restaurant offers breakfast for 5 euro each and evening set menu for 20 euro each, lovely food but too much of it!
The view from the balcony is fabulous and we were grateful the balcony provided shade in the afternoon/evening to escape the heat in August. For sun lovers the gardens are large so always a sun spot to sit in.
The nearby town, St. Agata is a 5 minute car ride away and very pleasant with several small and inexpensive restaurants and coffee shops and plenty of little shops stocking all you need to self cater for your stay in the villa. There is a little shop a 2 minute walk from the villa in Torca.
I am glad we stayed here away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento. Be warned though driving in the region is hard work as they are all nutters on the roads.
This was the first time I had used Summer in Italy to book a holiday. The website was easy to use and Summer in Italy staff were helpful when booking our stay and when we had queries. The info emailed with the booking documents was very useful.
“Please note that availability of the pool mentioned in the review is not guaranteed. The pool is not being advertised as it is not managed by the owners, so please don't count on using it -- if it happens, take it as a bonus. If you do need a pool for your holidays please consider a villa that advertises having one! :-)„
Travel tips
- Don't pack loads as there is a washing machine and airer to dry stuff on.
- Use the smaller pizzerias in S.t Agata as they are lovely.
- Don't rely on the tourist info centres to provide local info as they only have bus timetables.
- The kitchen has a 4 ring hob but no main oven, only a little microwave grill oven so plan meals accordingly.

Fantastic
June 2013 - A great place. Your service was as good as it can be, thank you to all of you.
Travel tips
- The smaller car you have the better because of the small and tight curved roads.
- The nearby restaurant is excellent, and there are more good ones in the centre of Sant'Agata.

Fantastic
September 2012 - We enjoyed Villa Silvestre very much. Our host and his family made us very welcome. It was a beautiful spot and the presence of the adjacent excellent restaurant was the icing on the cake.
Advance information was useful and well presented.
Travel tips
- The cottage is a bit remote. It is walkable to Sant'Agata but a (very small) car is useful. The driving in the area was always interesting.

April 2012 - We enjoyed your stay very much. In fact Villa Silvestre B is a Summer House, and less for spring and autumn. That's because the living room is rather small an poor (only a eating-table and a kind of bed-sofa). If you want to stay together in the evening after dinner and it's to cool outside, you simply have to sit around the table, no kind of lounge.
The the terrace has a good view to the see and there's a nice little garden to sit in. But beware that the terrace is orientated towards south-east... there's a nice morning sun, but absolutely no evening sun. So if temperatures in spring or autumn are still fresh in the evening, there's no dinner possible outside. but you can take wonderful breakfasts in the morning sun...
The surrounding in end of April was really nice: No other tourists, just Italian people who live there. In Torca, 5 minutes to walk, there is a little shop where you can buy almost everything, especially fresh bread in the morning.
Travel tips
- There are several stunning hikes in this area, many of them you can start from the Villa itself. Highlight: Termini-Punta Campanella-Termini.
- Very nice Restaurant in Conca dei Sogni near Marina del Cantone.

September 2011 - The villa is extremely difficult to find or reach by car - and so remote that a car is essential. It is also impossible to turn a car around when other residents park, so to get out you are forced to reverse 200 m up a steep and narrow track. If you are lucky enough to avoid scraping the car, clutch burn is unavoidable. Suggest additional insurance.
Travel tips
- If you risk it, get your insurance excess as low as possible. It cost me eur 1,000.
- If you do go, Marina del Cantone is fabulous.

October 2010 - The villa was beautiful.
The location was awful, so very far off the main area and frightening curvy alleyways for roads. The parking area was so small it took us 15 minutes to turn the car around since there was so little space.
The people were wonderful and the villa was beautiful, we loved the view and Sant'Agata. Only one other complaint is that there wasn't a comfy living area to sit - just a daybed with no back pillows. Americans like to relax in comfy chairs or sofas. We had to relax in bed when we were tired during the afternoon. But we are 77 and 68 years old. So maybe we are just more fussy.
We truly loved our stay overall.
Travel tips
- You must be young and adventurous to drive there and maneuver you automobile in such a small area.

September 2010 - We enjoyed Villa Silvestre B, with it's peace and quiet. We enjoyed relaxing on the terrace with the view.
The walk into Torca was interesting and the village charming. The restaurant was in walking distance and the staff there was very accommodating.
Mr. Franco [the owner] was very nice and even though he didn't speak much English, we were able to communicate with him.
Although we took a chance by booking with Summer in Italy, we were very happy with the accommodations. The only unexpected thing was that the road signs were difficult for us to follow. It took a while to figure out that the road signs were blue and the hotel signs were white. Valentina was wonderful when we got lost on the way in and was able to guide us over the phone to the meeting place to meet Mr. Franco so he could lead us to the villa. Thank you, Valentina!! We would recommend Summer in Italy to anyone traveling to Italy.
Travel tips
- The staff at the restaurant Terranova were excellent to us and gave us directions, made arrangements for a driver for several day trips.

May 2010 - Our stay at Villa Silvestre B was wonderful. Beautiful view of the sea and village below.
Only downside was the slight difficulty (time involved) of getting there from the main sights of the area. Other than that, our stay was perfect.
Thanks for everything you did to make our stay easy and enjoyable. All of your hard work involved in making sure each customer is satisfied really paid off. I will definitely recommend you to friends and family traveling to Italy.

May 2008 - We all enjoyed our stay there very much, Mr.Franco [the owner] was helpful and a lovely man.
With 4 adults there, at times was a little cramped, not much seating indoors apart from the dining table, luckily for us the weather was wonderful so much time was spent on the terrace which was a very relaxing and lovely spot with amazing views.
It would have been nice to have a little bigger oven as we tended to have all our meals in house and try and cook with local ingredients bought in town, which is something we all wanted to do as a couple of us come from hospitality backgrounds. Aside from those points we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, a truly beautiful spot.
Your web site was a huge help, lots of info. The villa mentioned was what we wanted, away from the main centres and in with the locals. I think maybe it would help to say that you do really need a car, anybody with children would definitely need one, as the walks were great for us, but for little ones a bit of an effort. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we hope one day we will be able to utilise your site again as a return trip to Italy one day would be fabulous. Thank you again.
“Yes, absolutely! We score Villa Silvestre as "car needed": in our opinion you definitely need a car to stay at this place.„
Travel tips
- A car is highly recommended, we didn't have one and found at times the walk a little tiring especially with shopping to carry back.
- Public transport was very good once you are in town, as the us services run well and it is quite easy to get around once you know the routine.
- Nearby shops are very adequate, lots of lovely local delights.
- If you like walking many walks can be done, the area is very lovely with so many breathtaking views, and just to live amongst the local life is a bonus, no traffic.
Unfortunately, Villa Silvestre B can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
