Excellent

October 2005 - I wish I was still in Positano/Montepertuso. It was so quiet and relaxing there.

My review, in short, of Villa Grazia and it's owner, Antonio, along with Positano and Montepertuso in general, is that they are all fantastic! I don't know where to start, it was so great!

Antonio was very easy to talk to when I first called on the phone and he was very responsive whenever I called for advice or extra blankets, during our stay. It was easy to arrange to meet him at the Starburst Tabacchi, right where the Sita Bus from Sorrento dropped us off in Positano. From there, he drove us with our luggage up to Montepertuso, where the apartment is located. The apartment is up a long, steep stairway from the closest parking spot. There is no road up to the apartment from there. You have to walk up the stairs. So be prepared to lose a few pounds during your stay. But here's an example of how accommodating Antonio was: I was travelling with an accordion, which, in its case, weighed 68 pounds (31 kilograms). Antonio insisted on carrying it from the car up the 150 stairs to the apartment for me. And, when I departed, 3 weeks later, he sent his son-in-law to carry it back down.

The apartment, itself, is very clean and nicely appointed. The kitchen had all the utensils and pots and pans you could ever need. The sink was modern and clean. The refridgerator was large. The appliances were very modern and efficient. The lighting was great. There was also a heater, though we never used it.

The bedroom was very nicely decorated - very comfortable for 2 people. The bed was firm. There was plenty of closet and shelf space, lots of bedding and towels.

The terrace and the view - the apartment's best features - have to be seen to be believed. Our first night there, from our vantage point high above Positano, we watched the yellowing half-moon set into the Mediterranean above the twinkling lights of the sleepy seaside town. As I said, words can't describe the beauty.

Also the surroundings around the apartment were fantastic. Since I played my accordion, there, I got to know the neighbors fairly well. Everyday as they walked by, or worked in the olive trees, they requested and thanked me for, "la bella musica!"

Montepertuso, itself, is fantastic. The merchants are all very nice. There are three restaurants in Montepertuso. They all looked excellent. The one we liked the best was La Tagliata, a place, slightly above Montepertuso on the road to Nocelle. It has an open air grill and the food is delicious. The people who run the place are also very friendly and fun-loving.

Montepertuso is also a great place to hike from - and to, if you're hearty. The views are some of the most striking in the world. And it's so quiet with the sounds of a small, hillside town - chickens clucking, people talking, church bells ringing, people getting married, married couples talking, and arguing, sporting events, dogs barking, motor scooters scooting, the toot-toot of the bus coming up the hill, the gay sounds and distant surf of bustling Positano below, and the pure quiet - that, even though I had my CD player and headphones along with me, I never put them on.

Also, the bus service from Positano is very good The drivers are extremely friendly welcoming, and patient. And even the passengers always seem to be in a good mood!

What more can I say? I know I'll be back again, at my earliest opportunity.
