June 2010 - We had a great stay at Villa Gemma. It is a short walk from the town and the beach.
The villa was clean and tidy and was stocked with everything you would need on a self-catering holiday.
I would highly recommend staying at Villa Gemma and we will definitely be returning. thanks to Summer in Italy for everything.
Keep it up, we had a fabulous holiday and I have recommend you to all of our friends.
Travel tips
- They have everything you would need so don't pack your travel iron as even an ironing board and iron are provided as well as a hairdryer. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and eating.

June 2009 - Our time at Villa Gemma was absolute magic. The views from our balcony are absolutely superb and we spent many evenings sipping wine and soaking in the spectacular views of Positano. Not too far from the beach/village (about 10 minute walk). Great accommodation for families. Lovely and clean. Loved it!
Service and communication from team at Summer in Italy is the best I have ever come across. Very informative and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone, as an excellent booking agent. Thank you Luca and Andrea. Our holiday in Positano was everything we dreamed about.

June 2009 - We had a fantastic time.
There were no hassles whatsoever and the view from the balcony is spectacular.
Just a short walk down to the shops and beach.
Travel tips
- Bus stops just down the street but there is no car parking space - then again no one has a parking space in Positano. If you bring a car, you will have to pay for parking in one of the garages nearby (cost could be as much as 30 euro/day). Be prepared to negotiate though as we got it for 18 euros/day.
- There is a good supermarket down town as well as a small butcher and an ATM which handles foreign cards. There are a multitude of great restaurants.
- The main bedroom with it's king-size bed is palatial but the second bedroom is small and the third pokey.
- If you're used to moderately hot water from the taps then be careful because the water from the hot water tap is near boiling. If you have smaller kids, make sure that you help them get the shower working so they don't burn themselves.
- Don't run any water or use the washing machine when someone's in the shower as the water pressure is not great [aaah... that's Italy!].
- The manager, Paolo, was very helpful.
- The highlights for us were our trip to Ravello and the ferry trip from Positano to Salerno which was the best 10 euro we spent.

September 2008 - It was excellent for our needs.
Close to the busy part of Positano but far enough to be quiet.
Six of us stayed comfortably.
Travel tips
- Go to the piano bar near the delicatessen down the lane where Via Colombo and Viale Pasitea meet.
- Go with the flow and enjoy all that Positano has to offer.
- If you are purchasing food etc to eat in then go to the little store up the hill to the left from Villa Gemma. The lady owner and her mother are really friendly and nice people.

June 2008 - This was a very nice situation.
It was occupied by my 2 adult children and their friends. It was a perfect arrangement for them.
I will definitely return for future villa needs.
Travel tips
- If staying in Positano, looking for a nice affordable spot, I would highly recommend Villa Gemma. For 4 people, much better value than any hotel in town. Comparably located hotels rooms would cost considerably more.

May 2008 - Excellently placed close to the town centre.
The owner and concierge were extremely helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome.
The view from the balcony over the town and out to the bay is wonderful.
The apartment was very well equipped, with plenty of storage and hanging space.
There was a car parking garage only about 100 metres away (open 24/7) and charges were reasonable (24 Euro/day)
Great service. Picked you by chance from the Internet when surfing for accommodations in Positano and was extremely happy with the result. Thank you very much.
Travel tips
- Take the opportunity to hire a speedboat from the main beach. Costs are reasonable and you get a fantastic view of the coastline.
- Make time for a meal at the Saracen restaurant in Montepertuso (above Positano). They even collect and return you to Positano at no cost!
- Other excellent restaurants are the Buca Di Bacco (on the main beach) and Hotel Pupetto.

May 2008 - We loved our stay at Villa Gemma in Positano.
The view from the terrace to the town below was amazing. This was the highlight of the property.
You are just a short walk from numerous quaint shops, pastry/food shops and the beach.
Travel tips
- The drive to Villa Gemma in Positano was challenging. If you are driving there in a rental car, ensure that you get a vehicle with a GPS to program in your destination. It would have been very challenging to find (for first time visitor to Italy) without this. If this will be your first time driving in Italy, you will quickly realize how much more aggressively people drive than in North America. In town/city environments, parking is extremely tight and numerous scooter/Vespa riders come extremely close to your vehicle to get around you at high speed. Further, there wasn't parking included with this property. We had to store our car about 150 m down the road at a garage (Garage Mandara) for 20 euro/day. The road entering Positano has alot of switchbacks, since the beautiful town is built stepped into the mountainside.
- We took a great day trip to Pompeii - the ruined and partially buried Roman city near modern Naples. I think you could easily spend a few days exploring the huge site.

June 2007 - It was very nice to live in an apartment like many of the locals. We felt we got an authentic feel for Positano this way.
The high ceilings made it feel larger and gave it added charm.
As a family of 4, we felt at home immediately.
The bus stop was right nearby if we wanted to go out, and many restaurants were within walking distance.
The view from the balcony, however, is what we will treasure forever.
Travel tips
- Restaurants at the top of the town and even in the town above (Montepertuso)are less expensive and have magnificent views. Try Da Costantino in Montepertuso for pizza or a great meal and the best view, or Grottina Azzura at the top of Positano for no-nonsense homemade Italian food and great inexpensive house red wine they serve in a pitcher. Sit outside and you'll feel like a local in no time.

July 2006 - Our family of 6 enjoyed the location and neighborhood.
We found everything and as advertised and ready to use. The price was right, no luxury but the air conditioning was adequate.
This is a perfect place for 2 or 3 adults and children.
I would recommend it for travelers on a budget.

April 2006 - We loved staying in such a central location, and enjoyed our time at Villa Gemma.
Beautiful view and just a very short walk to the town centre, with the bus stopping right at the front of the Villa's.
Our arrival and departure was made very easy with the help of your wonderful staff, thank you.

October 2005 - It is great for a family - there are no rugs - but tiles - which are easy to clean with little ones.
The location is very convenient, and the view is beautiful.

August 2005 - We absolutely loved our staying at Villa Gemma!
Travelling a family of six with 2 children we were very happy with the choice of an apartment for our week in beautiful Positano.
The location was perfect and we enjoyed the terrace very much with a view which makes you never want to leave...

August 2005 - We enjoyed Villa Gemma and would stay there again.
We enjoyed many lunches under the awning on the terrace. The view is interesting because it pans on the left Positano, Praiano on the next cliff, the sea, and the main access road on the right. It is very nice in the afternoon in the shade.
The piano is a nice touch if you are musically inclined.
It's a litle tight for six unless you have small children, but we were a party of four and it handled us nicely.

July 2005 - We had a wonderful time staying at Villa Gemma.
We had the true Italian experience. Even the rooster crowing at 5:00 a.m. added to our experience.
The view from the terrace was breathtaking. The retractable awning made the terrace enjoyable at anytime of day.
The location was perfect. The various shops and the beach were in walking distance, and so were the restaurants located around Positano. The Positano bus stopped right outside our place.
The people residing in the complex were friendly and helpful.
Friends of mine are planning on booking this villa next summer.
Using Google I came across Summer In Italy. I took a chance and booked a trip. I'm so happy I did so. My family and I had a memorable experience. Villa Gemma was located in the perfect spot for us to truly appreciate the beauty of Positano. We'll remember it always.
Because of my experience, friends are planning to book with you for next summer.
If possible, I would suggest one thing - let people know that the phones will be a challenge. Public phones don't accept change, just cards. We learned this the hard way. Suggest people wait to purchase a phone card until they get to Italy. Our U.S.card didn't work and caused a lot of frustration. When we purchased a card from a tobacco shop, it worked perfectly.

September 2004 - Villa Gemma is ideally located in the lower part of the town and has a spectacular view of the town and the coastline.
After a week staying in the high part of Positano we were ready to relocate a bit nearer to the action and Villa Gemma provided all we needed and a bit more.
I have no hesitation in recommending this villa to anyone.
Summer In Italy saved us! At 9am on the morning that we had to check out of our first villa we had nowhere to go, by 10.30 you had found us Villa Gemma which was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you very much for all your help and assistance. I will definately recommend and use you company again.

August 2004 - Villa Gemma was perfect for our family group. After travelling the other towns on the Amalfi Coast, we all decided that Positano had the best balance of elements: ambiance, shops, beachfront, location in the area.
The villa was well-situated in the town. Above the hubbub of town, but near to parking and a manageable walk to town and the waterfront (and a short walk to the wonderful restaurant Da Vincenzo).
The position of the apartment both within the town and within the apartment complex made for a magnificent view. We thoroughly enjoyed our balcony, especially with the retractable awning offering shade.
The kitchen was well-equipped, and we appreciated the washing machine.
We had a wonderful week, a combination of beach time, hiking, travelling to Amalfi, Ravello, Atrani, and Capri, and just relaxing at the villa. The folks at Summer in Italy were quite helpful.
I checked out a number of sites for rental properties; Summer in Italy had a very easy to use site, with lots of helpful information and good visuals that ennabled me to see several properties which looked possible. (I was pleased that the pictures quite fairly represented what the apartment was like.) Villa Gemma emerged as the prime candidate among properties available at Summer in Italy, so I booked it. The whole process of dealing with Summer in Italy was very smooth. The written information was clear, detailed and helpful. I would use you again and will recommend you to friends. Keep on doing what you do so well.

May 2004 - Staying at the Villa Gemma was one of the highlights our our trip to Italy. The location was fantastic; just high enough from the beach so that we didn't have any crowd control problem, and close enough so that we could walk five minutes and be at the center of the town.
I would highly recommend this villa to anyone considering a stay in Positano.
You did an excellent job on your website. We really enjoyed using your service.
Unfortunately, Villa Gemma can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
