October 2011 - We loved the villa.
Bedroom suites and kitchen excellent, little things like an ice machine appreciated.
Most magnificent views of whole coastline from bedrooms and outdoor eating terrace.
Excellent position, bus stops for local and Sita buses virtually out front door. Excellent swimming beach close by.
Very happy with Summer In Italy. Always prompt to reply to emails, extremely friendly and every request re information no matter how small was met. Very helpful and patient as we worked our way through to finally settling on Villa Freda A.
Travel tips
- Owner very nice and helpful.
- Deli will deliver 1st big shop to your villa free - you have to walk up about 100 steps to get there so you appreciate this!
- Hire a boat from the nearby beach to take you to Capri for the day.
- Do the walk of The Gods from Amalfi to Positano, start early before it gets too hot.

July 2011 - A fabulous villa with breathtaking views and plenty of space for a large group to comfortably stay together, without getting in each other's way. We would definitely come back.
Our host Antonio was very helpful in getting us settled into the villa and offered great local tips to make the most of our trip.
Thank you for the high quality of property you advertise. When booking accommodation over the internet you are not sure what you will find. We were very pleased. The staff at summer in Italy are professional and always answered any enquiries with a prompt response. We were very impressed with your services, and also that of the transfer company you recommended to take us to and from our accommodation. All round a very pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to use your company again, or to recommend to friends. Well done.
Travel tips
- The villa is about 1 km from the main town of Praiano, which is an easy and enjoyable walk.
- There is a little shop two doors down where you can buy drinks and minor household items. Straight up the hill across from the villa is a wonderful deli/supermarket via enchanting laneways and staircases, and delivery of goods is possible. In the main town is Angela's supermarket, and while Angela works the counter, her husband Salvatore will deliver your goods to you on his vespa.
- The Africana nightclub (100 metres down from the villa) has just reopened after four years, and while it was only re-opening on the night we left, a quick peek inside confirmed what a must-do this place is for next time.
- Bar Mare down at Praiano beach cooks up the freshest seafood, and be sure to try the lemon delicious - a speciality of the region.
- The highlight of our trip from our accommodation was the "walk of the Gods" which leaves directly across the road from the villa. Depending on your fitness level allow between 2 - 4 hours, arriving in Nocelle (at the top of Positano) and having lunch at Santa Croce (an amazing restaurant looking down over Positano, with great food and service), and then catch the bus back to Positano and then onto Praiano which stops about 100 m from the villa.
- Great location for exploring all surrounding towns either by car or bus.

May 2011 - We are 4 couples from Australia, who love walking. Villa Freda A was a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast. The large rooms and great view from each bedroom suite were quite luxurious.
We used the kitchen every night except 2, and were very happy cooking meals with food bought from Tutto per Tutti supermarket, where everyone was very patient with us! The table in the dining room was great for long dinners and board games.
Very close to the bus stop.
Antonio [the owner] was very helpful, especially with picking us up and settling us in.
Travel tips
- Being from Australia, we are not too fussy, however, even for us the beds were a bit hard. This was easily fixed by putting one of the many extra blankets underneath the bottom sheet.
- Close to the bus stop. you can get bus tickets from the tobacco shop just above the villa.
- The supermarket in Praiano is a great place for necessities. Praiano is definitely one of the best places to base yourself on Amalfi Coast - away from the majority of tourists.

April 2011 - It was a wonderful house for a family reunion; large enough to accommodate our family and still have space to get away and have some quiet time.
Praiano is a special place and Antonio [the owner] went out of his way to help us explore the area and have a delightful time. We really felt we got to know what life is like in his village. He helped with ideas, shopping, boat rides along the coast, restaurants, and even arranged a chef to come to the house to prepare a dinner and teach us some about Italian cooking. His advise was spot on.
All of us said this was one of our most memorable trips.
Travel tips
- A car is not really necessary because of public transport and the difficulty in finding parking.

September 2010 - This villa was fantastic! It exceeded our expectations in every way. We rented both villa A & B so it was perfect for our large group of 16. Each couple had their own bedroom suites or bedroom with bath. Everyone did their own thing during the day like go to the the beach, Positano, Amalfi or Ravello. We then would all meet-usually in the large kitchen in Freda A to see what was cooking, grab a glass of wine and head out the large patio doors onto the terrace.
The view was fabulous! There are large lemons growing over head which we picked to make fresh lemonade!
We prepared a lot of our own meals at the villa. The kitchen was more than adequate. There is a couple of grocery stores in Praiano. We went to Tutto per Tutti, picked out what we would need then they would deliver them to the villa. Antonio -- the villa owner - took the guys who did all the cooking to get fresh fish, lobster, mussels, etc... when we needed. There is also a butcher in town to get meat. Needless to say we ate like royalty! The grocery prices were very comparable to what we would pay in Wisconsin. The price of wine was very reasonable! We would also go to the Tabacchi outlet located next door and pick up wine, limoncello, soda and bus tickets. Very handy!
Everyone in our group had a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back!
Travel tips
- For us the transportation was the hardest thing to grasp. Once you get that down it's a piece of cake!
- Antonio [the owner] has all the information in his information booklet for guests at the villa. You can purchase bus tickets right next door at the Tabacchi -- marked with a capital T.
- Get your walking legs in shape. There are a lot of steps to get anywhere in the area. This not a good place for anyone who is out of shape!! I think there are at least 200 steps straight up to the grocery store!
- I do not recommend renting a car here -- very dangerous!
- Bring a flashlight for walking around at night.
- Bring an umbrella and rain coat just in case.
Unfortunately, Villa Freda A can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
