Good

October 2013 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Giardinetto. The location is very good -- not in the middle of all the tourist attractions, but close enough to get in and out; grocery across the street; local restaurants within walking, as well as public transportation.

The gentleman caring for the apartment was lovely. We would return to this apartment when we return to Positano.

Travel tips

  • Bring your walking shoes and spirit of adventure! What a lovely area!

Very good

June 2013 - Perfect for a great location, friendly owner Salvatore, and friendly neighbourhood. Great grocery shop, a bar and a restaurant a butcher and fish shop nearby. Far enough away from the busy shops and beach area that you get a bit of a local feel. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

After eating out for every meal for the previous 2 weeks we enjoyed being able to prepare our own breakfast and after eating out for lunch each day it was sometimes nice to have the option to cook a light evening meal of local fresh seafood or great Italian sausages. After dinner it was a nice stroll to the local bar for a drink, gelati or a coffee where we started to become regulars.

We felt very welcome right from the start as Salvatore's was delightful and very helpful and made our stay in Positano.

Thank you for assisting us in obtaining a great place to stay in Positano. Your staff were always very quick to reply and provide assistance.

Travel tips

  • The local shop just down the steps from the villa has a great supply of food and the husband and wife are very helpful and friendly.
  • The family that run Bar Internazionale at the top of the hill have great coffee, pastry, ice cream and cold beer and is a great meeting point for the local bus and the coastal SITA buses. Next door to the bar is a lovely restaurant and on the other side another great grocery store. Around the corner in the direction of Sorrento there is a great butcher shop and a bit further up the road a fish shop.
  • The view from the balcony is worthwhile taking the time to just sit and have a drink or a meal.
  • If there is something you need that is not in the villa just ask.

October 2012 - Great location, being at 'the top' of Positano town area you get a great view of the ocean as well as the beautiful town itself.

If you don't like stairs you can always walk down the road or there are 2 bus stops in close proximity that can take you into the lower part of town very easily (one bus stop is about 20 steps down, and the other near Bar Internazionale is about 60 steps up). There are several mini-markets close by as well.

The villa is small, but it's clean, comfortable and has a lovely terrace/garden area that is perfect for sitting and enjoying the view.

Travel tips

  • Definitely do a day trip to Pompeii. You can easily get the SITA (I think it was less than 4 Euro) bus to Sorrento then the train to Pompeii Scavi (less than 2 Euro from memory). Just make sure you check the schedules in advance so you're not waiting around too long.

September 2012 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Giardinetto. The owners were really very friendly, helpful and always available for advice.

Summer in Italy was very helpful and always available to us.

Travel tips

  • We would recommend going to Trattoria La Tagliata in Positano... it is situated very high and has a great view. It is family owned/run with no set menu... they just bring you dish, after dish, after dish of excellent, tasty food. They have a shuttle that can pick you up and bring you back if you ask.
  • We would also recommend a ferry trip to Capri... well worth seeing!

September 2012 - Casa Giardinetto is run by a lovely family who made themselves very accessible to us.

The casa is very small, so plan all activities elsewhere. We didn't cook in, but that was available. The outdoor terrace although quite small has a lovely view.

September 2011 - Perfect choice for us. Used the apt as a place to relax while taking day trips to various locations surrounding Positano: Capri, Pompei, Amalfi, Ravello. The location of Casa Giardinetto allows for easy access down to the center of Positano and up to the various bus routes. If walking is not your thing, the bus stop 25 steps from the front door works well for all travel.

Liked the fact the owners live above the apt. They were very helpful in navigating around both town and the apt.

I've rented several apartments/homes and Summer in Italy made this a very easy, comfortable, and hassle free experience. I could not have asked for more feedback and help from Luca and the folks at Summer in Italy. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • We lived out on the terrace!
  • Grocery store just across the street - perfect!
  • As a point of reference, the apartment is located across the street from the Villa Franca annex (super nice hotel). Be sure and ask the hotel about using their internet and pool. Small fee for both, but worth it - and right at your door step.
  • Self serve laundry facilities just around the corner, heading down hill.

July 2011 - Casa Giardinetto is very well located with a lovely garden and views over the bay.

We found the location near the top of the village very convenient as we could walk down to everything and take the bus back up as well as being close to the Sorrento/Amalfi bus stop.

Our host, Mr Salvatore couldn't be nicer, was quick to accommodate our request for beach towels and his advice on the mini market across the street was very helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Giardinetto and wouldn't hesitate to return.

We were very happy with the service we received from Summer in Italy.

Travel tips

  • Casa Giardinetto is close to both the local and Sorrento/Amalfi bus stops, has a mini market across the street and is a short walk to a bar and a couple of restaurants.
  • The beach is an enjoyable walk down through the village with a bus ride back up.

July 2011 - We loved this small apartment. If people are looking for a great view with a great location with lovely hosts then this is the place for them. We had a great holiday!

Travel tips

  • Take the bus from the beach each day!!
  • From the pier there is a free little boat that will take you 5 mins around the bay to a little beach called Arienzo Beach. It leaves every 15 mins or so. The beach is cheaper and nicer than the main beach -- do it on your first day and you'll do it often.

October 2010 - Sitting in the garden enjoying the view with a glass of wine at Casa Giardinetto is very close to heaven.

The apartment itself has a lovely ambiance and the location closer to the top of the old town than the bottom makes for easy transfers to and from the bus (for day trips to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, rides along the Amalfi coast etc) and gives you easy access to the best (and cheapest) fruit, veg and alimentari. It also means that you get a good work out if you use the stairs down to the beach (and up again) - which we did at least twice every day and loved it. But there is a town bus stop close by if you want to be lazier going back up.

The landlord is a lovely man and very, very helpful.

We were on the road for 3 months altogether in a range of apartments and this one was a joy and a lovely end to our Grand tour.

I liked the wide range of apartments listed with sufficient detail so that I could choose one that suited my needs. The booking process was easy, you were very responsive (I needed to pay early because we were on a long trip and you gave me advice on the best route to get to Positano from Naples) and booking through you was the best experience I had (we were on the road for 3 months and used a range of agents and direct bookings). Thanks.

Travel tips

  • Good if you want to tour the local area by bus, and/or get some exercise on the stairs, and/or sit and watch the light change from the garden terrace with a glass of wine.

August 2010 - We absolutely loved our stay!! The garden area was wonderful and made our honeymoon so special. Beautiful sea view and just the coziest place with comfortable bed as a bonus.

Highly recommend this place for a couple looking for a romantic retreat.

It was a true pleasure to do business with you. Excellent communication.

July 2010 - Just a few steps up or down took us to little local market shops, restaurants, more magnificent views and more steps! and the famous Bar Internazionale from where we could find a bus to anywhere on the Amalfi Coast.

Live like a Positanese and enjoy what, for us, was the highlight of a 9 week European trip.

We were made to feel very welcome by Casa Giardinetto's owner and our beautiful little garden was a bonus for enjoying a glass of wine and literally 'breathing in the view'.

Positano and Casa Giardinetto provided my husband and I with 7 days of joy.

I found Summer In Italy and the staff extremely efficient and informative. I couldn't fault their communication. I only wish I could start all over again.

Travel tips

  • A visit to Ravello with its magnificent walks, classical music and Villas is a must.
  • Equally important is a short trip by boat from the main jetty to Restaurant da Adolfo on Laurito Beach and finish your day with drinks at the Bar Internazionale (or start your day having breakfast there also).
  • The Internet Cafe on the beach in Positano is wonderful with the friendliest, most helpful owner.
  • Don't go to Positano with preconceptions - just enjoy the magic of every turn in the road or change of direction on the steps.

June 2010 - It was really great. At first it seemed it would be far from things, but it was a short walk to everything you would want to see in Positano. In the middle of it as a matter of fact. A supermarket just across the street -- really important because there are not too many and you will enjoy that. The stairs to the beach were easy to find and there were 2 or 3 different ways to go. Very good location with the bus stop just steps away, restaurants just around the corner.

I would rent this one again, even after walking all of Positano, I think this was the best location to get involved in the town and see it all.

Travel tips

  • If you won't want to get some exercise, 15 minutes down stairs and about 25 min back because it takes one or two 3 minute stops to catch your breath this may be tough. but, you can take the inter Positano bus, stops every 20 min or so for 1.25 Euros per trip. Drops you off at the beach and drops you back at your door step. Very easy to catch. I thought it was well worth the walk because it is close to everything you need. Supermarket just across the street, laundry around the corner. Restaurants (affordable, not like at the beach) just around the corner, bus stop, etc. I would rather stay here than one of the stays at the beach.

May 2010 - Really loved it but would choose location on other side of Positano as the climb back up every day and night was a bit tiring but it was a compact little apartment. The owners were very welcoming.

Really good service.

October 2009 - We loved this place! The apartment itself is rather small but comfortable. Enough place for 2 people.

Such little details as the fish pond or nice ceramic dishes make it very cozy.

The view from the garden is amazing! We thought it was so much more romantic to have dinner there than in any restaurant. You can buy any food to prepare in the nearby shops.

The apartment is a long walk down the steps from the beach, but the bus stop is just 3 minutes away. It's very convenient to explore the Amalfi coast with public transport from this place.

The owners live next door and they are very nice people.

I am very pleased with Summer in Italy. Luca was very attentive to our needs and provided us with useful information.

I would recommend you to all of my friends.

Thank you!

September 2009 - Casa Giardinetto was a lovely, homey place to stay! It was quite a hike from the beach, but that made for great views.

I stumbled across your website with a google search. Booking was easy and it was SO helpful to have people to talk to when I couldn't get a hold of the owner--and to help with language barriers. You guys are doing a great job!

July 2009 - We were delighted with Casa Giardinetto, the terrace was a height of entertainment for us and such a pretty area to be sitting looking at the wonderful view.

We loved the location, perfect for public transport which was a must for us.

The owner was very helpful but not intrusive.

We would stay here again when in the area.

July 2009 - The apartment was small but a perfect fit for the two of us. It looked just like the photos.

There was no living room but the bedroom was large enough and the kitchen and bathroom were more than adequate, although one should note there is only a cooktop and no oven. The view was of the town down below and the sea beyond it. The only downfall to the view was the road right in front of our apartment.

The owners were wonderful. The attended to our needs, offered clean sheets and towels several times and went above and beyond bringing us homemade food and home grown veggies from the gardens on many occasions. They even offered to wash our laundry for us in their machine.

While initially we thought we were a bit further from the beach than we wanted to be (about 7-10 minutes on foot) we found the location to be ideally suited for travelling around the area. We were a very short walk to the SITA bus (the bus that takes you to other towns) and mere steps to the local Positano bus (which we tended to take back up to the apartment even though we walked down daily). As an added bonus the grocery stores and veggie stands were cheaper where we were than near the beach.

The owners tended to the beautiful patio garden that graced the outside of the apartment daily; (it even contains a cute little fish pond) but they were never intrusive.

All in all I would stay there again without hesitation.

May 2009 - The garden terrace, the view, the owners make this property the most perfect, relaxing & magical place for a holiday.

Perfect for a couple who love the idea of sitting on a balcony watching the sun set, with a view of the hills & the ocean surrounded by a beautiful garden.

Everything you need is provided in the villa & the owners are incredibly helpful & kind.

Would absolutely recommend this villa.

May 2009 - We loved the time we spent at Casa Giardinetto.

The owners made us feel more than welcome and assisted us with our small inquiries re the area.

The garden is certainly a most delightful area and quite private.

We were able to arrive at our destination with ease, due to the precise instructions. I found your site on the Internet and yes I would book with you again.

Travel tips

  • The village at the top of the steps is quite enchanting. Within a day we were made welcome by all the store owners and the produce at the fruit provider was great, the seafood shop and the butcher were fantastic.

October 2008 - Perfect for a couple and a good price. Outdoor space is a real bonus and great place to relax.

Not too many steps up to the apartment, and the owner was very good to help with the bags. His sister then arrived and offered us a drink - a very nice touch. They are very friendly people.

Bus stop outside apartment made travelling around Positano very easy.

Perfect service yet again.

Travel tips

  • If there's a bad restaurant in Positano, we didn't find it. We thought the food was exceptional in Villa Franca which is just across the road from the apartment.

September 2008 - What a vacation! Our host and his family were friendly and helpful, the villa was well taken care of, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. We loved Italy and Positano and will never forget it.

The view from the terrace was spectacular. We were surrounded by a variety of plants, shrubs and flowers; and the cool September mornings were just perfect for our daily ritual -- a cup of cappuccino and roll.

We found the short walk up to Bar Internazionale most convenient -- just a few minutes away were coffee/breakfast rolls, post office, wine and a small grocery shop, fresh produce a tiny but good little restaurant, and the local and SITA buses.

We counted 900 steps all the way to the beach level, and we took them down for the exercise a couple of times. But there were only 15 or so to the road below; and if you didn't mind taking the longer route, there were restaurants and shops enroute; and it was pleasant.

Our hats off to this wonderful family, their home and to Summer In Italy -- your one-stop-shop to a great vacation.

Travel tips

  • If you are not used to having the shower floor a continuation of the bathroom floor, you may want to manage how you suds up and rinse, unless you like floods.
  • The woman in the photo shop on the road below was quite helpful
  • she was much like about every shopkeeper and restaurant employee we met. What a wonderful town.

July 2008 - We enjoyed it a lot. It was a bit smaller than I had imagined, but had a really good feel to it.

Small outdoor terrace/lush garden overlooking the street was great.

The people who rent Casa Giardinetto are great... nice and friendly.

Casa Giardinetto is up near the top of this town. It's 756 steps down an intriguing system of stairways to get to the waterfront (and main shopping area.) One can also walk the winding road, which takes longer, but is less strenuous. There are several small groceries near Casa Giardinetto, and a bar, and a restaurant, etc.. A good location, all in all. Possible to take local bus directly from Casa Giardinetto to the seaside/downtown area. Costs 1.3 Euros (approx.)

Casa Giardinetto is extremely convenient to the main road out of town, and so is great when you're taking a bus to other towns, including Naples.

We are very pleased with the experience.

I think you have been great. Your communications are clear and prompt.

If you (or anyone you like) are ever in Patagonia, Arizona, USA, we'll buy you a beer.

Unfortunately, Casa Giardinetto can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
