August 2011 - We enjoyed it, you definitely need to be in shape. The location is a nice but a little far from the center. Francesca the caretaker was very nice. It was a pleasure dealing with her.

I would definitely consider staying there again if in Capri.

Travel tips

  • I would advise them to use the luggage service or to pack light as the location is at least a 20 min walk from Capri center.

June 2011 - I just spent the most incredible vacation in Capri, Italy at Casa Francesca. There are only good things to say about the house and the caretaker AND her family. I lived in the house, not just visited it. By doing this, one actually feels as if you are a true Italian.

The vacation was the most relaxing one I have ever had in my life. Although it is away from the piazza, one seeking true relaxation and the true feel of the island, one should stay here.

The house was clean and neat and had a lot of little extras that you might not expect out of a normal rental unit.

I would recommend this house to everyone.

Let me tell you about Summer In Italy: Luca and Andrea were absolutely fantastic. I was a bit nervous at first with booking with them as I wanted to pay cash for the entire trip and I had to transfer money into their account. I read all of the reviews and held my breath! It went off without a problem and from then on I was very comfortable speaking with them for all of my needs. They were more than willing to assist in any way and I actually feel as if I have a lasting "email" friendship with them. I would highly recommend Summer In Italy for their rental assistance. In fact I will use them for a future trip I am thinking of to go to Tuscany. Thank you Luca and Andrea, you are both wonderful.

Travel tips

  • The house is out of the piazza area and up a series of hills. If you have a lot of luggage, make sure you have a porter take them to the house for you.
  • For lunches and snacks I would absolutely recommend Bar Due Calipsi (which is on the way to the center).
  • La Savardina Restaurant is just around the corner and the food is incredible.
  • My favorite nighttime restaurant was Sollievo which is outside the center AND don't forget Lo Sfizio which caters to the locals.
  • Villa Jovis is just up the hill from the house and Villa Fersen is just around the corner (short walk).
  • Arco Naturale is a beautiful sight.
  • Spend time on the island. NOT just a two night stay. One cannot see everything there is to see on this small island.

September 2010 - I thoroughly enjoyed Casa Francesca. It was tastefully furnished, had a great view, and was away from the hustle and bustle of Capri town.

Also, the caretaker, Francesca, was extremely helpful.

The only reason I would rate the location "above average" rather than "excellent" is because it is a long, uphill walk to get here. I am in my 40s and did not mind the hiking at all, but my companion was 80 years old, and it was more difficult for him. I suppose he did not realize that he would have had to do a lot of walking.

Casa Francesca is a wonderful vacation home. I will be back again!

Travel tips

  • Just be aware that Capri is quite mountainous, so that you must be prepared to walk uphill for about 20 minutes to get to Casa Francesca. If you are fit, this should not be a problem, however.
