September 2009 - Casa Emma was lovely and peaceful. The terrace outside is great with sun all day long.

I would recommend Casa Emma to anyone as it was the perfect break and we would rebook again.

Travel tips

  • Get the internal bus right up to outside the apartment as the steps all 200 of them are a killer from the main bus stop.

July 2009 - Casa Emma is exactly as advertised. It is a wonderful villa situated at the top of Positano overlooking the sea.

Staying at Casa Emma requires lots of walking and a basic understanding of the bus routes, which weren't too bad once you got the hang of it.

The owner, Mr. Domenico went well above and beyond the call of duty several times to help us; he even rushed us to the airport at 5 in the morning when our driver didn't show!

The villa is well constructed and maintained, the owner is a very good man, and Positano is one of the most beautiful places on earth...

Travel tips

  • Learn what buses you need to get around. From the stop by the Delikatessen you need the Montepertuso/Nocelle bus and from the stop outside of the villa you need the Interno Positano bus.
  • Make use of the small corner stores and bars, they are a great place to see some local night life!

May 2009 - We enjoyed Casa Emma very much! The location was perfect for us since we don't want to be in the center of everything. It was nice to have locals living near you.

Casa Emma was clean and light. It was a great surprise to have flowers in the bathroom and fruits in the kitchen table when we arrived.

The owner was very friendly. Too bad the weather was cold and we couldn't enjoy the terrace us much as we would have wanted.

Thank you Summer In Italy! We're very pleased with your service. We had the information in good time, you answered questions quickly. You seemed like a reliable place to book a casa. We can't think of anything to improve.

Travel tips

  • We really enjoyed hiking on the mountain. There are two marked footpaths leaving to the mountains very close to the casa. You can buy maps from the shop near the main church.

September 2008 - Casa Emma was great.

It's less expensive that other villas because it's a long walk down to and up from the downtown/beach area. We didn't mind as we are young, and the exercise made us feel better about the copious amounts of food we ate over there, but it is a workout walking back up the stairs.

The terrace is fantastic, the place is in great condition, and overall we really enjoyed our stay.

May 2008 - We loved Casa Emma. The owner and his daughter were very helpful. We appreciated being picked up at the nearby intersection by the owner so we did not have to carry our luggage up the stairs while looking for the property. The owner's daughter spoke English and showed us where everything was, and was able to answer our questions about the area and our checkout.

Casa Emma is very nice. It consists of the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, with a very nice outdoor balcony. There is a washing machine in the bathroom and a large drying rack for doing laundry. The kitchen has a stove top and a microwave oven.

There is a fruit and vegetable market and butcher nearby, although we had to ask about the location of the butcher. A mini market is also located fairly close, although it requires a trip down an additional set of stairs from the fruit stand. The post office and a nice cafe are close by. There is a nearby restaurant, but we did not eat there. There is a small church about 2 minutes from Casa Emma down the stairs.

We highly recommend Casa Emma!

We found SummerInItaly.com around spring-summer 2007 after an article in the travel section of one of our newspapers, The Washington Post, detailed a stay in Praiano where the writer had searched numerous similar websites and had decided on this one. After checking those other sites, we also decided on Summer In Italy.

The reservation system was very easy to use. Also, we had to contact Summer In Italy a couple times before our stay and received prompt responses.

We will definitely look to Summer In Italy for any future trips to Italy.

Travel tips

  • The voucher provides the information to contact the owner when you are on your way in. We called when we arrived at the train station in Sorrento before we got on the SITA bus. We spoke to the owner's daughter who speaks English. The voucher instructs you to ask the driver to drop you at a nearby intersection, so if you are coming by bus, do that. The owner will pick you up and drive you to Casa Emma.
  • Casa Emma is located up near the top of the town, so be prepared for the walks down to the center. It can be tough at first, but after a few trips it is not so bad.

October 2006 - We were very pleased with Casa Emma.

The kitchen had all of the utensils that we could have needed and the owners put great detail into providing things for us.

The terrace was outstanding and we enjoyed spending time out there.

It was a very charming place and we hated to leave it.

We loved having a lemon tree and made good use of the fruit.

We were very pleased with all of our arrangements and would recommend you to our friends.

Travel tips

  • Visit the restaurant "Costantino" a few hundred yards away. It was the best food we had.
  • The Montepertuso bus will take you to the lower bus stop, near the beach.

September 2006 - It was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed being there.

It takes a few days before you figured out how to use the bus and this is really necessary.

Be prepared to walk a lot. Ask the owner what time the bus arrives. A very good restaurant is Donna Rosa at Nocelle, all right and not that expensive is Constantino, just 100 meters from Casa Emma.

At Positano we loved to come at the restaurant Buca di Bacco and make sure you catch the last bus to Montepertuso at 23.20h.

Day trips we made of course to Amalfi and from there to Ravello where you have to buy some ceramics.

A day trip to Capri makes your visit to the Amalfi Coast complete.

To explore the Amalfi Coast use boat and Sita bus because a ride in such a bus is unforgettable.

Everything was as expected. Thanks!

August 2006 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Emma! Everything was perfect. We arrived and were greeted by smiling faces and had a parking spot waiting for us. The bottle of Limoncello, and fresh lemons was a nice surprise.

The actual apartment is stunning, there is no living room... but you don't need one as you'll spend all of your time on the terrace.

The walk to town is not to be understated and is quite tough... but the bus system is very good... and once understood makes the trip that much easier.

Your service and speed when we needed something was very much appreciated.

We were very happy with our stay.

July 2006 - We both really enjoyed our stay at Casa Emma and loved the apartment, it was really clean, modern and comfortable, especially with the bedroom being air conditioned.

As warned the apartment was a way away from Positano town centre and the beach but it gave us a chance to explore and once we worked out where to go it only took us 20 mins down to the beach but we used to come home via the roads to save our legs!

I think your website is really good and I've been recommending it to people.

July 2006 - Casa Emma was a wonderful one bedroom apartment that is very clean and modern.

The terrace was great. Also, the owners who live right next door are very helpful and friendly.

Casa Emma is perfect for those who are looking to have exercise built into their vacation - it's a 30 minute StairMaster workout from the center of Positano to the apartment. We absolutely loved the walk - it's a charming tour through the area with beautiful views along the way.

There is a supermarket and butcher nearby. Air conditioning was definitely a plus.

We would recommend Casa Emma highly.

Summer in Italy was great - I would definitely recommend your service to anyone vacationing in Italy. It was a pleasure booking everything online and you are very quick to respond. Thank you!

June 2006 - Enjoyed our stay, a long walk to the beach but where isn't at Positano (helped work off all the great food)!

Great sun deck and view - lovely for early evening drinks before dinner.

June 2006 - Even though Casa Emma is a LONG way from the sea in Positano, it is a fantastic place to stay. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful and really did everything to make our holiday run smoothly including giving us a lift back to Sorrento on our flight day.

We found walking down the steps and up by the zig zag road or getting the bus back was the best thing.

The terrace was lovely, great view and very private and the apartment had everything necessary and was very clean.

The location itself was on a sharp bend in the road and as lorries past they honked their horn which woke my partner up in the early hours, but didn't wake me so it depends how light a sleeper you are!

Thanks for such excellent organisation, the pictures and description were exactly like the apartment in real life. I have been recommending 'Summer in Italy' to everyone I meet!

May 2006 - We had a wonderful stay in Casa Emma. The property was immaculate and the owners very helpful and considerate above what we would have expected.

We knew before hand that Casa Emma was located near the top of Positano so there would be lots of walking if one wanted to which we did - but the buses ran frequently and the owners provided current schedules which were easy to follow.

We found getting around back and forth from Sorrento easy and the buses ran frequently.

Casa Emma has air conditioning which we had to use for two nights and were very grateful for - otherwise it would have been difficult to sleep.

This property was excellent value for the rental fee.

We found our experience with Summer in Italy very positive. The directions and guidance provided were very clear and helpful.

October 2005 - We enjoyed staying at Casa Emma. It was superbly clean and tidy and the views, from every room, excellent.

It's a good walk down the steps to the beach but plan on taking the bus back up. Actually we would take the bus as far as the shops, buy our supplies and then walk the rest of the way up via the little church.

Highly recommended. And there's a good restaurant just a few hundred metres up the road.

August 2005 - Casa Emma was nice and sparkly clean, with beautiful view from the terrace, but far from the center of town.

Be prepared to walk LOTS and LOTS of steps, or figure out the bus schedule.

Good value for the money!

July 2005 - This was our 3rd time to Positano. We really had a great time at Casa Emma - just what we were looking for - we didn't mind it not being near the town as we enjoyed the walking.

The terrace was the best part and we loved sitting out there and we were pleased the bedroom had aircon.

The owner was very nice and friendly. We thought Casa Emma was great value for money. Thanks very much.

I think you have a good selection of apartments and it was easy to book with you on-line and you were very helpful when I e-mailed with any queries.

June 2005 - Overall we really enjoyed staying at Casa Emma. It is comfortable and very well fitted out with modern furnishings, and has a terrific, large terrace with views out to sea and nearby Praiano.

The apartment is a fair way from the centre of town, but the bus services (once you work them out) are pretty good.

May 2005 - Casa Emma is a lovely, lovely place!

We had everything we needed - a loaded kitchen, tourism info, hairdryer, etc. The owners even put out a fruit bowl of lemons and a vase of fresh calla lillies!

A brand new apartment with a huge flower-filled terrace, it really exceeded our expectations.

Located at the top of Positano, there's an excellant restaurant a short walk away and the bus stop is right outside the door!

I would definately reccommend Casa Emma!

May 2005 - Casa Emma is definitely above average, and in its price bracket, excellent. It is a little way out of town so the position lets it down if you would prefer to be closer to the centre, and it is small, but the facilities are sparkling new and the apartment is very light and airy.

Being on a road it was a little noisy at times, but not too bad, and that made it very convenient to get into and out of with baggage.

I would happily recommend Casa Emma to anyone!

We found your web site by chance, from an internet Google search.

You run a very efficient and helpful service, and it was a pleasure to deal with you. Thanks very much, and keep it up!

Unfortunately, Casa Emma can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
