May 2011 - We were there for a week. We enjoyed its perfect location, right in the heart of things (the old section of Sorrento, shops, restaurants, etc.), yet peaceful and quiet. A very short walk to the beautiful park on the cliff from where the view is grandiose.

We took the boat from Sorrento to Capri (all around the island boat tour well worth it for the extraordinary views), Amalfi (the Amalfi coast is also superb) and Ischia (took the bus all around the island this time, beautiful views).

Took the train to Pompeii for a day. Awesome.

We also took time in Sorrento itself and enjoyed every minute. We even sneaked in a half day at the "beach" at Marina Grande.

Travel tips

  • The kitchen is minimal, but well suited for eating breakfast and preparing a box lunch.
  • We found that Lanterna Due was a fine place to dine and the restaurant down the street (La Lanterna) also. Fish and sea food, wow.

  • Really nice and affordable restaurant just downstairs. Called Davide. They specialize in gelato, but also have some good "real food".
  • And nice old couple selling fruit and vegetables from their scooter just down the street at the entrance to "Villa Comunale".

August 2010 - I had an amazing stay at the Casa Alice E apartment. The location could not have been any better and the staff could not have possibly been any friendlier.

Wonderful experience. I would definitely stay here again.

Travel tips

  • The location is awesome!
  • Bathroom is a bit small, but the price and location more than make up for it.
  • It is right next to the best gelato place in all of Sorrento and about 100 meters from the cliff overlooking the bay of Naples.

April 2010 - Casa Alice E was in an excellent location and was very comfortable for 2 people. It was attractively furnished and very stylish.

The only problem was that the kitchen had very little equipment for self catering. There was no microwave or oven and no sharp knife. Nevertheless it was excellent value for money and the location was perfect -- it was in the middle of the main old city (narrow streets for pedestrians only) and only a few metres walk to a beautiful view over the Bay of Naples. We had a balcony overlooking the small bars,restaurants and shops.

This is our second booking with SummerinItaly and we have been very pleased with the ease of booking and the very helpful owners on both occasions. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • This is a perfect location to make you feel that you are part of Sorrento. Everything is close by and there are several places nearby where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables.
  • Trains and buses are within walking distance to take you to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii and Herculaneum etc.
  • There are many bars, restaurants close by.

November 2009 - It is brilliantly located in the old part of Sorrento, close to several good restaurants. The owners are extremely helpful and they are available most hours of the day.

We came across Summer in Italy by chance on the web but your helpfulness and constant feedback in the run-up to the holiday were reassuring and guaranteed an excellent holiday.

Travel tips

  • The Sorrento restaurant, just down the road from the apartment, is very good and the restaurant on the Via Marina Grande (about a 10 minute walk down the hill - ask directions) serves great, very cheap seafood and the wine (six euros a litre) is very drinkable.

September 2009 - It was a fairly small basic place but good value for the price.

The very very central location was excellent.

Car parking is an issue and can be expensive.

Summer In Italy has a very good service overall in terms of organisation and ease of arranging the booking over the Internet, with plenty of updates and information being e-mailed out.

Unfortunately, Casa Alice E can not be booked at this time.
