July 2011 - Appartamento Luigi was absolutely amazing. The staff was wonderful, the view was incredible and the location is unbeatable.

Travel tips

  • If you have to get from the Eurorail station to the hotel, I suggest paying the extra $ for a taxi because the Sita bus was not a nice way to arrive at the villa.

September 2010 - Absolutely enjoyable. Just lovely. Fantastic location and view. Very peaceful.

(For a bit of flavor...we were lucky enough to see the moonlight every night on the sea. We watched as the fishermen quietly fished in the bay, silently dropping their nets and pulling in the fish).

Enjoyed the property and apartment very much. Torn between staying at the apartment/property or leaving to explore the surrounding towns.

However, without a car, we felt a bit isolated and it was a long walk into town. Buses helped but were unreliable at times.

Floors could use a good cleaning and old flooring should be sealed.

Very impressed by your overall service and responsiveness. Would highly recommend Summer In Italy to others.

Thanks to all.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to walk or take a bus wherever you go. Must stay vigilant to know where to get off the bus.
  • All taxis are 20 euros minimum no matter what the distance.

August 2010 - Appartamento Luigi is a magical place, one in which you can just sit and enjoy life as it's meant to be enjoyed or take part in the wonderful accommodations that the villa offers. Picture swimming in the sea or in a salt-water pool just a few steps from your villa!

Domenico and Piero are just gracious hosts, willing to recommend restaurants, activities and whatever else it is you need.

Look no further, Appartamento Luigi is simply magnificent.

Travel tips

  • Be ready for the steps - not too crazy, but you'll get your exercise
  • Just relax and enjoy
  • Great restaurants very near
  • Car service (amalficar.it) available to help get you anywhere you want to go.

June 2010 - We enjoyed our stay at Appartamento Luigi immensely. The villa is spacious and the view is spectacular. We spent hours on the balcony enjoying the sunrise and sunset and everything in between.

The villa was perfect for four adults although the kitchen is a bit small and under equipped but we managed all the same.

Travel tips

  • We found Minori and Maiori far less touristy than Amalfi.
  • The trip up the mountain to Ravello is well worth it -- amazing views and unique village.

July 2009 - The view, gardens and pool were amazing.

It was very hot when we visited and we found the air-conditioning great.

Great service, thank you.

Travel tips

  • The best way to visit nearby towns Amalfi, Ravello and Minori is by bus. Visit beautiful Positano and Capri by bus to Amalfi and then ferry. The buses are efficient and air-conditioned. Towns are within walking distance but I wouldn't advise this.
  • Avoid driving as much as possible as the roads are very narrow and parking impossible.
  • Ask for a timetable and buy some bus tickets in advance.
  • We visited with our two young boys (6 and 4 years old). They loved the pool etc. but I wouldn't recommend this property for young children as the garden walls are very low with big drops to the sea, it was nerve racking!

May 2009 - The villa is a hideaway captivatingly beautiful in its setting. Appartamento Luigi was spacious, but could be improved with more comfortable bedding, and entertainment facilities such as a radio or iPod dock.

The villa is impeccably kept however, and the views are outstanding.

Dominic was a complete delight and really made the holiday for us all.

Our agreed suggestion for improvement would be for there to be information readily available at the villa for all guests on local information such as bus and ferry times and distances etc to areas of interest.

Overall though, a holiday we will always remember as magical.

Travel tips

  • Ravello: ask Dominic the name of the villa we visited there.
  • The restaurant owned by Luigi's uncle -- divine!
  • Get the smallest car possible. We ended up swapping an Alfa Romeo medium sized for a Fiat 500. You'll understand why when you get there!

May 2009 - Extraordinary location. Truly breathtaking.

Staff really friendly and helpful.

Great service. Thanks for everything.

Travel tips

  • Try to go slightly off season because the traffic jams on the coast road are almost as extraordinary as the scenery!

July 2008 - The villa and the complex was spectacular! It surpassed all expectations and it was truly a joy to stay there.

The staff was friendly and attentive and the location was superb.

We were extremely satisfied and would recommend a stay there to anyone!

I booked with you because of the large choice of villas to choose from and the easy process for booking that you have in place.

Travel tips

  • Definitely rent a boat because it is the best way to see the Amalfi Coast. Boats can be rented easily in Amalfi at the marina.

September 2007 - We thoroughly enjoyed the Appartamento Luigi and would return again.

The view was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. Especially Domenico who served breakfast. He had lots of wonderful stories.

They are a few steps to get to the sea and the pool but well worth the walk. Good exercise each day.

We would definitely use your website again for booking villas and recommend you to our friends.

Travel tips

  • The steps would not be easy for small children but if you want to stay at a beautiful villa, I would totally recommend Appartamento Luigi.

September 2007 - My mother and I spent a most magical, unforgettable week at Appartamento Luigi. We were both crying when we drove away. We didn't want to leave.

The location and most importantly the staff of Piero, Domenico and Raffaella (among others) were unforgettable.

We have rented through a number of other companies before and found Summer in Italy to be absolute perfection to work with. We will be back!!

Travel tips

  • Buy Julian Tippett's Sorrento-Amalfi car tours and Walks Guide Book (Sunflower Publishing) and enjoy exploring the area through hikes. Gorgeous.
  • By all means have Piero [the caretaker] arrange a private boat tour for you. We had one for 5 hours and it was unforgettable.

August 2007 - We had a fabulous time and enjoyed every minute of our stay at Apartment Luigi. The grounds and the views are absolutely breathtaking! The location was very convenient for visiting the nearby towns and it was always nice after a morning of sightseeing to come back and swim in the pool or kayak in the sea! Domenico and the rest of the staff were very helpful and always pleasant. We also enjoyed meeting some of the other families from around the world that were staying there.

The apartment itself was very comfortable for our family of five. After spending 2 weeks in the very crowded town of Positano, it was a nice change to come to the peaceful serenity that the villa offered. Our children (ages 8, 6, and 4) enjoyed exploring all the varied spaces within the villa (they especially enjoyed their daily visits to "the lemon garden" to collect all of the fallen lemons for lemonade!)

You did a great job coordinating everything for us!

Travel tips

  • It took me a week to find the staircases up to Ravello which cover the hillside. But, for those people who LOVE exercise... I had some wonderful runs on old stone steps, between terraced olive gardens, overlooking the beautiful sea. What a memorable workout... 1,200 steps!
  • Our favorite restaurant was the Pizzeria by the water in Atrani. Also, the Church in Atrani is not to be missed (instead of risking your life by walking on the road, you can access it from the main Piazza... just follow the steps up, between houses).
  • Ravello and Amalfi are towns not to be missed!
  • We thought it was helpful to have a car and an added bonus that the villa had parking, but you can get by with public transportation.

July 2007 - Fantastic time in a great location with very helpful and sweet staff.

Could not have asked for more and the web site does not do the place justice. it is more beautiful than the pictures.

We will return one day!

Travel tips

  • A few stairs but having the kitchen was great to make lunch and then go out for great meals in Ravello and Minori.

June 2007 - We absolutely loved our stay at Appartamento Luigi. From the moment we arrived, we felt immediately relaxed.

Being able to swim in the pool or jump in the sea from the landing deck was a great advantage, particularly with 2 young children to entertain... they loved it.

Piero and Domenico were wonderful managers, particularly Domenico's stories over breakfast, a very funny man.

We spent 3 weeks in Italy prior to this, and by far this was our highlight... a place all our guests are determined to go back to.

Summer in Italy were brilliant to book apartments with, very efficient and professional particularly as having to communicate from overseas. All details were very clear and the information regarding the apartment and how to get there was extremely helpful.

June 2007 - Appartamento Luigi was the perfect place for us to stay with our 8 month old baby - it was so peaceful with the most beautiful view.

The pool was absolutely divine.

The furniture is a bit odd (old fashioned) but we got used to the quirkiness of it and rather liked it over the course of the week.

Travel tips

  • The best part about the apartment was that we didn't feel as though we needed to go anywhere - once we'd bought food, it was the perfect place to just stop and relax.

October 2006 - The Villa was more beautiful than you web site showed. Our stay was wonderful.

The views from our apartment were breathtaking as were the surroundings. The pool was great and also being able to swim in the ocean was definitely a joy.

The staff at the villa, especially Domenico, was very pleasant and helpful with general information, calling a taxi, and helping us rent a boat to cruise the coast.

We enjoyed it all from breakfast on the terrace in the morning to watching the moon while sitting on our little balcony sipping wine.

Thank you for all your patience in helping us choose Luigi.

August 2006 - I would highly recommend Appartamento Luigi to all my friends. Great value for money and beautiful.

The furniture was charming it was spotless clean.

The villa is beautiful. I think it should be more clear how many steps there are to get to the pool or your apartment with no lifts so if you have heavy luggage you have to carry it down 100 steps.

Thank you for pointing out the fact that there are steps at the property -- it is indeed important to know upfront! One thing that we would like to add: if you need help with your baggage please do ask Piero and Domenico at the reception to give you a hand... they are likely to volunteer anyway, but if you need help please do ask them!

August 2006 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment Luigi. The views from the apartment and the terraces are spectacular and have to be seen to be believed.

The apartment was comfortable and furnished to fit in with the "castle" feel of the complex. The bathroom and kitchen are a little basic but clean and fully functional.

The staff were friendly and most helpful and we enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace every morning.

Pool was lovely and it was great to be able to jump straight into the sea for a swim as well.

Apartment was ideal for us and our 2 children age 11 and 13 but due to the many steps up the terraces would not be suitable for very young children and the elderly.

Location was excellent, with the beach only 15 minute walk away. Roads very narrow and parking was difficult at times we were glad we had a small car! Great location with loads of places to visit.

Summer In Italy were very efficient, definitely a company to recommend.

October 2005 - Our Whole family enjoyed our stay at Appartamento Luigi -- it was a perfect place for us, with two small children, to come "home" to from our day trips along the coast.

The kitchen was an added bonus that enabled us to have small meals with our children.

It was very quiet and relaxing for us there, and the we enjoyed all of the wonderful gardens, terraces and friendly staff.

We hope to be able to return someday and we plan to recommend any apartment on grounds to our friends.

July 2005 -

Apartment Luigi was far beyond our expectations! Exactly as promised on the website if not better.

We were warmly welcomed to “paradise” by Piero who runs the villa, and indeed it is paradise. The views on the website hardly do it justice, it was simply breathtaking. The apartment is on the top floor of one of the several buildings, which make up the villa, which appears to have been tastefully developed in the 50's or 60's from the remnants of a much older one from centuries ago. The apartment itself was beautiful with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea. It has a small balcony off the spacious dining room/living room area that is decorated with antiques and comfortable furniture. The saltwater pool is wonderful and is perched out above the sea with steps leading down to a small sea level terrace from which you can go swimming. Piero arranged for a private boat which came to the villa and we cruised the coastline for 3 or 4 hours @ 70 euro an hour which was one of the many highlights of our visit. We dined almost every evening in Ravello, which is not to be missed.

The entire transaction was handled remarkably well with frequent and courteous emails from the staff at “Summer in Italy”, which in my opinion, can be completely trusted. Everything went remarkably smoothly and completely as promised. This was a concern we had as we had never arranged such an exotic rental from a website we knew nothing of. But we are happy to report that we had a wonderful experience, as did the other renters whom we met at the villa. We shall certainly rent from them again!

We preferred to be outside the larger areas of Amalfi or Positano, which allowed us to escape from the frenzy of the tourist areas during the day to our own piece of heaven.

June 2005 - The appartment was fabulous.

Very comfortable inside and fabulous views outside.

The pool is nice and having access to swim in the sea was also appreciated by us.

There are loads of different areas where you can sit and lounge in the sun or shade.

Though the appartment sits beneath the main road it is amazingly quiet - we heard no road noise at all!

We had a car and hadn't appreciated how difficult parking can be, so having parking at the appartment was a real plus - as were the bus stops immediately outside!

Staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful.

Everything went smoothly for us and was as we were told, so the only advice is: keep up the good work!

July 2004 - Apartament Luigi is a charming experience, the terraces with flowers and statues surrounded by wonderful views are Amalfi coast at its best.

Everything is very well taken care of and the staff is exellent, Piero and Dominique were very friendly and helpful.

Apartment Luigi was also nice and comfortable for a family of four people, a very enjoyable week.

Make sure to visit Ravello and taste the delicacies of the Pasticceria De Riso in Minori.

Mmmmm... indeed don't miss the Pasticceria De Riso in Minori! They are located right on the main street and their cakes are phenomenal!

October 2003 - Our trip to Italy was wonderful! We were blown away at the beauty your country has to offer. We were also very impressed with the Italian people. Everywhere we traveled, we found the locals to be so helpful and kind. I have fallen in love with Italy and everything about the country. The people are so filled with emotion and life and it was a great opportunity for us to experience the Italian way of life. We enjoyed a 3 week trip which included Venice, Florence, Sienna, Pisa, Rome and the Amalfi coast.

The Apartment Luigi was our last week in Italy and was a perfect way to finish our trip. We were greeted by Dominic who was so nice and was very helpful with any questions that we had. All of the staff at the villa was great. The Apartment Luigi was more than we expected. It was large and very clean. The views from the terrace were spectacular and we enjoyed many beautiful sunrise and sunsets! The villa was in a great location and the property was very romantic with a maze of terraces and unbelievable views. We rented a car for the week and it was perfect to drive to Ravello, Positano and Sorrento for day trips. Due to the fact that it was not the height of the travel season allowed us to enjoy the drive along the coast. I can imagine it may be very tough to fight the traffic in the middle of the summer.

I want to thank you very much for all of your help with the rental of the apartment Luigi. I was very impressed with your company and would recommend anyone considering staying in Italy to use your company. You were very helpful during our selection process and having never traveled to Italy, you were very helpful answering our many questions which resulted in a great experience during our stay. There were no surprises or disappointments. I can say that we made the correct choice going through Summer in Italy and the Apartment Luigi.

Thank you so much for all of your help. We loved our travel to Italy and we will forever have wonderful memories of this trip. I miss Italy so much and plan to return again. I will be sure to contact Summer in Italy when we plan our return trip!!

June 2003 - Where do we even begin? When we first booked this trip we were a bit nervous. Sure, we saw plenty of pictures of Appartamento Luigi (Villa Scapariello) but sometimes pictures online don't tell the whole story. In this case, that expression was correct. It was more than we could have hoped for!

It was lovely to escape the busy cities that surround it but still be a short walk, bus ride, or car away from where ever you wanted to go. Piero (ran the property) & Nadia were amazing and extremely helpful. We never had to go outside of the villa to hire a car or boat. The women who work there are delightful and very sweet.

We ate breakfast overlooking the water under lemon trees every morning. It made our honeymoon the most memorable experience! Thanks so much! I'm sure you will hear from us soon!

April 2003 - Everything was fine, the weather and food was good. I enjoyed driving on the roads and trying to catch the locals on their scooters. Minori was a very friendly place (we did not like Amalfi) and we particularly enjoyed a walk we made from Atrani up to Ravello and then back down to Minori on the ancient footpaths that crisscross the coastal hills. We also had a brilliant drive from Appartamento Luigi to Bomerano and up into the mountains towards the end of the road at a little campsite called Little Paradise. The views down to Amalfi and Positano were fantastic. I can thoroughly recommend to you and all your guests a little book for car tours and walks called 'Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast' by Sunflower Landscapes ISBN 1-85691-148-9. A day trip to Capri, a whole day in Pompeii and Ercolano and two nights in Napoli completed a very busy and exhausting holiday.

The apartment was lovely, the setting even better and the statues and friezes add to the atmosphere of the place.

I would also like to mention that the staff, especially Dominic (I hope I have remembered his name correctly), were always very helpful and friendly.

October 2002 - It was a wonderful stay.  Charming rooms in a quaint turn-of-the-century villa that has many of the appointments and services of a modern 4 star hotel, great breakfasts on the patio, fabulous view, convenient to all the towns we wanted to see on the Amalfi coast, a sheltered pool, a convenient parking area, and excellent help from the staff - advice, directions, restaurant reservations, a late night raid on the kitchen for some tea.  We were even able to use the kitchen and dining room in our apartment to prepare a few meals for ourselves.  It all added up to a very memorable vacation.

We heartily recommend it.

October 2002 - Appartamento Luigi is a gem on the Amalfi coast. I would think there are few villas that are as charming and beautiful as this.

From gazing at the sea from your balcony to picking figs from their fig tree, the villa has much to be desired and is a perfect place for those who appreciate the history and style of Italia. It is like a gift waiting to be opened.

Unfortunately, Appartamento Luigi can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
