September 2011 - We really liked Appartamento Enrietta A. The terrace and the view from the terrace are very beautiful. We used to eat breakfast on the terrace every morning.
The apartment itself is very nice and clean. One of the bedrooms is big, with nice furniture and a wonderful view. The other one is smaller and doesn't have much of a view. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bathroom is ok too, but we did have a problem with the hot water, since the boiler couldn't hold enough hot water for 4 people to shower one after the other.
The location is very central, but you do have to climb around 150 steps to get to the apartment.:)
Travel tips
- I do recommend trekking on Sentiero degli Dei and also renting a boat for a day.

August 2010 - It was great. The roof deck was fabulous, and the apartment was very comfortable.
Travel tips
- You have to be prepared to climb 152 steps from the street to get to the apartment. This would definitely be a problem for people who are old or not in great health, or families with very young children. It is also a challenge getting luggage in and out of the apartment.

August 2010 - We enjoyed our stay. The apartment was fine and service was fine. The terrace was fantastic.
Our only problem was the public staircase down to the street. Dog owners in Amalfi do not clean up for their pets.
Thank you for a good web site.

July 2009 - The apartment was clean and in very good shape when we arrived. All appliances worked well, but we would have liked the refrigerator to be a little colder. There are a lot of steps to reach the apartment; no problem for us, but it is not suited for people who have difficulties with walking.
We made a few meals in the kitchen. It worked well, but some more light could be nice.
The roof terrace was fantastic - it alone is worth the price! We used it a lot, and enjoyed it especially when the temperature rose. It was always a little breeze, the possibility of some shade, and the fantastic view.
Both bedrooms were fine, and had more than enough space. The master bedroom had the extra bonus of a fantastic view. We used the air-conditioning the last three nights in both bedrooms, it worked fine and gave us a good sleep.
The location in the middle of the city is very good, and made us feel part of the neighbourhood instead of being in some tourist resort.
Overall, the apartment gave a very good impression, and we fell it is well worth the price.
You have been very informative ever since our booking, and we felt that we were taken care of by a serious company. The few requests we have had have been answered promptly. The takeover of our apartment and the payment of deposit and cleaning was done very informally in our case, with no receipts. We decided to trust that this was OK, and it turned out to work well.
We can recommend your company to our friends without hesitation.
Travel tips
- We used the supermarket just off the main street across the garage of Hotel Amalfi. They had a good choice and relatively modest prices in a city that was otherwise very expensive.
- We travelled to Amalfi without the use of a car, and recommend this strongly. Amalfi and the coast is not a nice place to drive a rental car if you are looking for a nice and stressless holiday! We arrived by plane in Rome Fiumicino airport, used the airport train to Roma Termini, and then an express train to Salerno. The last part of the journey was by the local Sita bus from Salerno to Amalfi. This worked well, but allow enough time for transfers! The express train was just on time, but the others were not. Relatively expensive
- EUR 60 for return tickets Rome - Salerno per person, ordered on the Internet.
- We took a day-trip to Pompeii, and recommend this if you have not been there before. There are several offers for such trips, most of them full day trips with a walk on the Vesuvius as well. We found a shorter trip which left Amalfi at 8:00 and returned before 15:00, EUR 34 per person including guide (very good one). Lunch and entrance to Pompeii is extra. We bought this trip in a small shop that rents boats and apartments. It is situated in the main street just a few doors to the right when you enter the main street after having descended all the stairs from the apartment.
- We also visited Capri during our stay, several companies sell boat tickets at the quay near the Sita bus stop.

September 2008 - A charming apartment in a central location with helpful and attentive owners.
It was refreshing to see some accurate property descriptions for a change and Summer in Italy are to be commended for this.
The views from the living room and master bedroom are fantastic and the roof terrace is a lovely spot for breakfast.
Very good communications throughout booking process. I must admit that having not heard of you before I was a little apprehensive that things might not run smoothly but would have no hesitation in using you again.
Travel tips
- Amalfi is a pretty busy town but there are a multitude of walking options nearby where you can walk for hours without seeing another tourist and enjoy spectacular scenery.
- Like Stuart Campbell I would recommend the Sunflower Walking Guide to the area which is a truly fantastic publication. You should be able to pick it up on Amazon, probably the best money you will spend!!!! [read about the book here: Walking and Hiking in Amalfi, Sorrento and Capri]

October 2007 - Enrietta A is an excellent apartment. Spotlessly clean.
We would have appreciated an iron and washing machine instructions!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The warmth and friendliness of Carmela [the caretaker] and all the staff made us determined to return.
We were extremely pleased with Summer In Italy. Descriptions and photographs were accurate. Thank you for a wonderful holiday experience.
“A small piece of advice that is always valid: no matter how big or small a thing you might need -- ask! Owners and caretakers are always happy to help if they can.„
Travel tips
- Favourite restaurant: Restaurant Marcello.
- Recommend buying the Sunflower book on walks in the area. Excellent local transport.

January 2007 - The view is magnificent, the apartment is very classy with fine art and furniture. The town of Amalfi feels very genuine, quiet and the people is nice. especially when you travel with children as we did.
The only negative side is the steps (180 to be exact) leading to the apartment.
Another thing on the plus-side is that the owner can help you with parking the car in a garage, right beneath the apartment.
Travel tips
- Just be prepared to climb the steps.

October 2006 - Appartamento Enrietta was fantastic! Carmela, our hostess, spoke wonderful English, and tolerated my horrible Italian with good humor. Our journey from Naples took longer than expected, but with several phone calls along the way to update on our late arrival we were accommodated fully by her associates.
The apartment itself is beautiful -- seems to have been recently renovated with quality and good taste. Don't miss the hideaway bug screens in the windows; we did not discover them for several days.
Views are exquisite, both from widows and roof deck, beds are firm but very comfortable, kitchen is modern, clean and well stocked.
Travel tips
- Don't underestimate the stairs! Almost 200 steep steps to get to Appartamento Enrietta. Totally worth it, but if you don't like a bit of a workout to get home, this could become an issue. Great justification for that late night gelato, though!

September 2006 - Perfetto! Much more interesting than a hotel. It is a wonderful apartment which certainly lived up to the website description.
We will look back on our week there with great pleasure for many years.
I found your website because I particularly wanted an apartment in Amalfi, and there are surprisingly few available. The shot of the town and the coast from the terrace was the clincher.
You guys run a very professional operation. When everything is arranged by email like this, and you're dealing with people you don't know anything about, and also transferring money and credit card details, it's a little uncertain, but you came up with the goods, and we are grateful.
I was also impressed by the way in which you handled the arrangement, with excellent information packs and rapid email responses to queries.
Travel tips
- First of all, you will be bitten by mosquitoes so be prepared. I'm not saying that the place is infested --it's not -- but if you react like my wife you don't want one to be within a mile of you. Take the advice and get mosquito repellent.
- For local information, Amalfi is quite small and there is not much to do there. My advice is to do what we did: take lots of good books and spend most of your time de-stressing and sunning yourselves on the roof terrace. It's the best place on earth to be so make the most of it -- after all, you're paying for it!
- For the important things in life, there is a good enoteca just a couple of doors down to buy your wine.
- We ate out every night somewhere different and all the meals were excellent. I do not believe that you can get a bad meal in Italy -- they have too much pride in their cooking.
- Finally, do be prepared for the steps to climb up. I suggest you wait until you're in for that final glass of grappa.

July 2006 - We enjoyed the apartment very much.
There are 184 steps from the street to the apartment. It's great way to stay in shape on vacation.
Great location, great place. We are very happy with our choice.

June 2006 - We thought it was a lovely, clean, well presented traditional style Italian home, a perfect base for our family holiday.
A quiet retreat right in the heart of Amalfi Town with fantastic panoramic views in all directions from the roof terrace.
One comment we have relates to the roof terrace. Whilst our children aged 7 and 10 managed the steps to the roof terrace perfectly well with care - it may be worth noting that special care would be required for small children, the elderly or infirm, maneuvering the steps to the roof terrace which were quite steep.
Unfortunately, Appartamento Enrietta A can not be booked at this time.
We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
