June 2011 - We loved it! Truly felt at home. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate breakfast on the terrace each morning and had a few wonderful dinners on the patio also (dinner items were purchased at Delikatessen in town -- yummy!).

The terrace is a delight with a lemon tree and orange tree. We enjoyed the fruit from both. The view from the terrace is magnificent overlooking the Mediterranean!! It surpasses the picture on the web! We also had the benefit of a full moon and a total lunar eclipse the week were there. Amazing!

When at the villa all our time was spent on the terrace unless we were sleeping. Bedroom has wonderful view of terrace and sea beyond.

Staying at the villa we felt somewhat like "locals" rather than tourists. This is the experience we were looking for.

We would very happily stay at Villino delle Orchidee again.

I just happened upon your website when looking for a rental in Positano. You were very easy and pleasant to work with. I greatly appreciated you holding our reservation until I could transfer the funds to you. The information you gave us was very thorough and insured our trip went very smoothly. Would use you again when we travel to Italy! Thank you!

Travel tips

  • Our favorites: in town: Bar Mulino Verde, The Delikatessen, the beach (water is warm and crystal clear in June). Hiking the Path Of The Gods.
  • Don't bother going to Capri for a side trip.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes -- lots of stairs and uphill walks.
  • Walking home each night from town was delightful. Seeing the town lit up below, music from the piano bar wafting up the mountainside -- like being in a wonderful dream.

October 2010 - The villa itself is spacious and lovely. It's a great villa, but is let down by a number of things such as: windows were dirty - surely the 80 euro cleaning charge, which other villas did not have, should cover this. Dirty windows means the view was not as great as it could have been.; No washing machine; No knives to prepare dinner with; Old and mismatched glasses, cups and cutlery.

For the price, we were a bit disappointed with the above.

Thank you so much for reporting this! It gives me a chance to share two pieces of advice which might be useful to travelers looking to rent a private home. The first piece of advice, very important, is to check the property description to see if the property you are considering does have the amenities you require. Villino delle Orchidee is not marked has having a washing machine, which means that you will not find it on the premises. The second piece of advice is to take advantage of our assistance... I'll explain: as you probably know, these properties are privately owned by genuine locals who, with a few exceptions, are not professionally trained in the accommodation industry: they do it with their heart and common sense, and with our advice and support. While usually everything is as one would expect, from time to time some details could be improved upon, and owners really want everything to be perfect, they just need to be told. As I have the bad habit of going on vacation from time to time myself, I know that when you arrive at a place you don't want to deal with sorting out the details, and so my advice is: let us do it. All you need to do is to pop into any Internet point, and drop us an email with a list of things that would enhance your stay; be sure to tell us that it is ok for the owners to enter the house while you are out enjoying your time, and let us take care of it and follow up. It really is that easy, and we truly want you to have the best of times!

September 2010 - We really enjoyed our stay here, the villa was clean and tidy, and the owner Pasquale was very helpful with advice.

Travel tips

  • Great place to be, if you don't mind steps using the pathways are often a better way of getting around than waiting on buses/taxis or walking along the road. You can pick up maps of the walkways from the tourist office near the bottom of via Santa Caterina

July 2010 - It was ok but not more. We have rented way better houses with much better location in Positano for lower price. We where also charged 80 EUR extra for cleaning which is extremely expensive, normally when we rent in Positano the price is 30 EUR. The terrace was also quite bad, it was told to be 30 square meters but there where only like 5 square meters that could be used because the rest was trees and a lot of dirt without plants.

Thanks for the travel advice, and the friendly service. This was just right for us.

May 2008 - We spent a wonderful, relaxing and adventure-filled week at Villino delle Orchidee. The apartment was clean and spacious, the supply of clean linens greatly appreciated and the breath-taking view beyond description.

The location was perfect: moments from the bus that regularly delivers you to and from the beach/centre of town (saves a lot of stairs), close to a great store that has everything from fresh produce to bottles of wine, in a quiet neighborhood conducive to peace & relaxation after a busy day.

Signor Primo [the owner] was gracious and more than helpful. His help with travel arrangements was most appreciated.

My husband and I are already planning a return visit - but this time we would like to stay two weeks!

Would definitely recommend Summer in Italy. Love your easy on-line booking. All questions posed were answered.

Travel tips

  • It's great to adventure up and down the stairs at least once - but after that, take the bus. It runs every 30 minutes and you catch it just steps away. Save your energy (and your legs)to explore all the great places on the Amalfi coast!
  • The boat excursions are quite reasonable and absolutely unforgettable.

May 2007 - We loved our stay at Villino delle Orchidee.

The location was perfect for what we had hoped it would be.

We didn't use the kitchen facilities much, mostly just for coffee and tea in the mornings. The shower in the bathroom didn't have the pressure and water flow we are used to but it was still adequate! Loved the terrace!

Very easy to book, great instructions to get there. Would book again with Summer in Italy, and in Positano, and at Villino delle Orchidee if ever get the chance again!

Alas, we know, lucky you! Among the many woes that afflict Italy, one of the seven most industrialized countries, there is a chronic lack of water: for us Italians is just normal -- and when we go abroad it often seems to us that we are showering under a waterfall!

Travel tips

  • Great restaraunt just below the villa (Cafe Positano).

October 2006 - The Villino delle Orchidee was perfect for a real vacation. Particularly because the location in Positano, which is the most beautiful village in the area, providing us everything we wished with no need to drive anywhere: hiking, sailing, swimming, relaxing, and good food.

Also the spectacular view from the garden was very relaxing.

I have found the information in the website to be very informative and accurate. We got exactly what we expected.

August 2006 - We had a wonderful holiday.

Signor Primo [the owner] was very welcoming and helpful.

We enjoyed the spectacular view and the welcome shade of the orange and lemon trees.

Plentiful supply of fresh linen.

The apartment was always cool and comfortable even when the temperatures were high.

We were very pleased with your company. It was our first time with you and it probably won't be the last. Excellent communication. We wanted the security of booking with a company rather just an individual and we got that.

June 2006 - We spent two delightful weeks in Positano, and the Villino delle Orchidee was a great part of our good times.

Its location is perfect--close but not in the middle of things; the neighborhood is great, and the owner is a model of thoughtfulness. By way of example, we arrived at 8:00 pm, and found that the owner, Signore Pasquale, had asked Signore Franco, who runs the little market stay open an extra 15 minutes so that we could walk up and buy the next morning's provisions.

The Villino is a wonderful place to stay in a fabulously beautiful little town.

May 2006 - We loved it. Our stay was the highlight of our month in Italy. The terrace and doors that slide open to allow breezes in, and the garden. Beautiful and relaxing!

Signore Pasquale [the owner] was helpful and friendly. The neighborhood was perfect. We enjoyed the nearby restaurants and the small beach below, rather than the more touristic shops and larger beach of the main town.

Bar Internazionale was a favorite place to hang out and watch the Giro d'Italia bike race. The owner was very kind to us.

Summer in Italy was easy to use, and directions were perfect. We will recommend it.

October 2005 - Villino delle Orchidee was just what we wanted. We really enjoyed our stay in Italy and will return. We rented a scooter for 2 days and went off the beaten track and around the coast --- terrifyingly beautiful!!

We arrived in Positatano exhausted. It took us a full day to recharge the batteries. I hated the steps on that first day, but after that I loved the walks.

The villino was near a great little shop --- lots of lovely cheeses and meats. The nearby International bar was enjoyable in the evenings.

The bus service around Positano was excellent and just a minute up or down from the villino.

We liked to sit in the little garden with our local wine enjoying the view and relaxing.

We could not believe the amount of vegetation in the little garden.

July 2005 - Villino is a charming little corner of paradise whith an exceptionally beautiful view.

The garden and the veranda are so peacefully quiet, that it's nearly a shock to venture to the beach or the pedestrian zone.

Kitchen and bathroom are satisfactory.

Our landlord was perfect: efficient, helpful and friendly without being obtrusive.

June 2005 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villino delle Orchidee! The owner, Primo, was very helpful and everything was ready upon our arrival. This included parking arrangements for our rental car which was very conveniently located.

The Villino was more spacious than expected and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the terrace and garden. Although small, it was very charming with lemon trees and an herb garden.

Clean linens and towels were provided on a regular basis or when needed.

We certainly would recommend Villino Delle Orchidee for anyone planning a vacation in the Positano area.

From the time we viewed your site and booked the Villino to the time we left, everything went very smoothly.

Thank you for making our vacation a wonderful experience!

June 2005 - My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The place was beautiful.

The only downfall was that it was 545 steps (we counted!) up and down to and from the beach. But after walking it a few times, it became a piece of cake.

We loved the place, the view, and and out caretaker.

The restaurants close by were amazing, especially Mediterraneo!

I highly recommend this place.

I think you guys are fantastic. The communication via e-mail was superb. I will recommend you to everyone.

September 2004 - We had very pleasurable time staying in Villino delle Orchidee. The rooms were larger than we expected, well furnished and maintained. The garden/terrace barely had enough space to put two chairs side by side (mainly because of the space taken up by the planting areas), but it was nonetheless a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the incredible view.

Several grocery shops within 100 meters made convenient to get whatever provisions that we needed, and the hotel just next door allowed us to use their internet.

The local bus (every half hour)made it easy to get down into town (a ten minute ride), if you didn't feel like walking down. The bus is recommended for returning from town, and runs until midnight.

We took a taxi (50 euros) from Sorrento directly to the Villino, so it was very easy to get there. However if coming by the SITA bus, it can be difficult to get to if you are bringing a few pieces of luggage [you might want to call the Positano Porters at +39 089 875310 for help with the luggage]. The walk is not so short from the Bar Internationale where the SITA bus would let you off, and it is steep, and involves several stairways. But it can be done, and once you are there, it's great.

The arrangements went off flawlessly. The owner was waiting for us when we arrived, and we both knew the terms of the agreement, so there was little to discuss. We never had to contact Summer In Italy, because all went well. That's as much as one can expect. We were very pleased.

July 2004 - Helpful owners live just upstairs. It will help if you speak any Italian, although the son speaks English. The woman picked fresh lemons for us right off the tree.

Parking is down the hill about a block or two at the Parcheggio Milano. Do not park in the street or you risk being towed.

Very convenient to some great restaurants, the bus stop, and a grocery store, as well as lavanderia [laundry shop].

Summer In Italy has been very helpful and thorough in providing general information.

July 2004 - Villino delle Orchidee was magical. It is spacious and the owners, Senior and Seniora Carlo are very welcoming. Their son Pasquale is also very helpful and speaks excellent English.

Of the Amalfi coast line that I saw, only Positano (where this villa is located) offers an authentic Italian experience coupled with a beach at the bottom of stairways which will go somewhere to burning up the 4 course dinners.

Waking up to the view from Villino delle Orchidee every morning was nothing short of spectacular.

You have an excellent website. Your correspondance prior to my arrival in Italy was very helpful. I'll certainly be looking to use your services again come time for another shot of Positano / Montepertuso / Ravello magic.

April 2004 - Villino delle Orchidee is wonderful! The view is fabulous, the landlord very helpful, the kitchen large, and you are staying in a building that was built in 900 A.D.

Grocery and butcher are just a few steps away, and the apartment is well located and quiet.

The landlord at Villino delle Orchidee was GREAT! We ran out of gas (bombola) the first night. I let his mother know and he made the trip over late that evening and changed the tanks out for us so that we could make coffee the next morning! Please let them know how much we appreciated this place.

This was a great experience, and my husband's favorite part of our trip! I would definitely use your services again. Thanks for making everything so easy!

October 2003 - We had a great stay at Villino delle Orchidee. The night we arrived, there was a national power outage that lasted well into the next day [during the night of September 28th a nation-wide black-out left Italy with no electricity for part of the following day]. It rained that day, and because of the great big windows and the gas stove, we were able to sit and read all day and cook our own dinner. Aside from the power outage, we had no problems with the plumbing or the electricity for the rest of the week.

The Villino is extremely clean and very comfortable. The little garden is indeed tiny--it's more like a little seating area than a garden per se, though it's surrounded by all sorts of vegetables and a couple of lemon trees. The apartment is bigger than it looks in the photos, and the garden is a bit smaller. It was plenty of room for two adults.

The location is excellent -- you can easily walk down to the beach or up to catch the bus to Sorrento and Amalfi. And the view from the big windows and "garden" is gorgeous.

The landlord was fine, stopped by a few times (they live upstairs) to ask if it was alright if his wife swept the garden area and watered the plants. The elder owner speaks no English, but his son, Primo, does, and he was very helpful when we arrived.

Thanks. I'd definitely use your services again. It was all very easy and hassle-free.

Unfortunately, Villino delle Orchidee can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
