August 2011 - Beautiful, quiet location in the heart of rural Italy. The apartment was very well equipped with everything we needed and the owners were extremely helpful. The outside is much more attractive than it appears in the photos with plenty of space to relax and dine.

Travel tips

  • If you are planning to use public transport as we did then allow for some steep walks up from the nearest shopping in Massa Lubrense (you can't just pop out for a pint of milk!). Otherwise everywhere is available using public transport.
  • We did a fantastic boat trip to Capri from the harbour below Massa Lubrense (ask at the tourist office).
  • Also good to do the the trip to the Amalfi coast one way by bus and return by boat to Sorrento.

September 2006 - The accommodation was exactly what we wanted and perfectly matched the description on the web site.

The family that owned the property were very helpful and friendly, they gave detailed suggestion of excursions and the local public transport.

The property was very quiet and had amazing views over the sea to Capri.

I would recommend Villino della Nonna to anyone.

Summer in Italy offered the type of accommodation I required at a reasonable price. The booking and payment was very easy and everything was just as advertised. I would certainly use Summer in Italy again.

June 2004 - The family who own Villino della Nonna are extremely helpful and friendly, while respecting the privacy of guests.

It is a fabulous place to stay with children - away from the noise of town, but with plenty space to play, and close enough to a range of sights and attractions. Loved being only a short walk away from the village so we could get a taste of what Italian village life is really like.

Being surrounded by lemon and olive trees, nestled on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean was an absolute pleasure - sometimes it was great just to spend the day at home, lying on the Terrace in the shade, sipping a cold drink.

Thanks once again for a great break and base for my children and myself while we were in Italy.

Summer In Italy offers a fantastic service, and much appreciated. I have already recommended your service to others, and will certainly use you again for my next trip to Italy. Ciao!

January 2004 - Villino Della Nonna is meticuously clean and very comfortable. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. We particularly enjoyed their own Limoncello!

Driving around the area is very dificult. Narrow roads and stressful driving. Access to and from the villa requires assistance. It is necessary to leave your car and either go by foot or use the regular and efficient bus service to explore the region.

Take car walking to and from Massa on the narrow lane as the occasional car will pass very close to you. At one stage we were almost run over by a very apologetic who did not see us. You cannot get off the road because of the walls either side.

Antonio and Giovanni [the owner's sons] speak English and will help you plan your walks and advise on the bus system. Very friendly and helpful.

The Summer In Italy website is excellent. Our booking was handled quickly and efficiently. The information on the property and Italy in general was comprehensive. Well done!!

November 2002 - We had a grand time at Villino Della Nonna.  Maria [the owner] and her two boys were a delight.  They are taking electronical engineering in Napoli and I am a retired electronics engineer.  I would say the following to anyone interested.

This is a delightful apartment, in the country but most convenient to seeing the sites of the area (Amalfi coast, Capri, Naples, Pompeii, and Sorrento).  We rented a car in Rome and wished we hadn't as the public transportation (bus, train and boat) is so economical, is faster and convenient without the hassle of driving on the congested roads.

The family has prepared a large, clean, modern and charming space for guests and is very helpful in providing information.  There is some awareness of the family in that noises of their activities can be heard.  We loved the country feeling and would open the door and windows wide but doing so at night let the mosquitoes in.  With no screens it is something to watch.  The only other caution is that there is some hilly walking along a lighted, narrow (single car width) lane, to get to and from the Sorrento bus line and to and from the nice little town of Massalubrense. Since restaurants do not open until after 7 pm, we found it convenient to come back to the villino from our days travels and then walk to Massa for la cena.

A highlight was having breakfast on the patio with the birds, flowers, citrus and olive trees and a view of the surrounding hills and Capri.  If you enjoy the country and a country stroll, we would highly recommend this spot.

Unfortunately, Villino della Nonna can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
