Ideal stay in Positano!

September 2023 - Would choose this place every time!

If you are arriving here via land (bus, taxi, private transfer), this location is beyond convenient - it's right off the main coastal road and not far from a bus station. If you're arriving via ferry, you will have to climb about 10 minutes of steps (or hire a porter to bring your bags up).

The grocery store next door was nice to have and has good hours. They have a little deli in the back and even some basics like shampoo, bug spray, soap, etc. The workers in there are friendly and helpful. So much to do nearby!

Check in was smooth. Margherita [the caretaker] met us there and showed where things were and how to use everything. She gave us tips on how to get around. She is the sweetest! it really felt like you were staying with family.

AC worked well and so did the washer (theres a drying rack). Shower is a little short because of the curved ceiling, but wasn't a problem for me (5'8" 172 cm) - I'd imagine if you were 6'3"/190 cm + you might have to duck a little. Bed was comfortable.

Thank you for a great stay. We would love to stay again when we return to Positano. We had no issues and wish we could have stayed longer!

A compact apartment with a big x-factor atmosphere

July 2023 - The villa was a gem and greatly enhanced our Positano experience. There were lovely touches provided by the welcoming Margherita [the owner] and the overwhelming feeling was special. A compact apartment with a big x-factor atmosphere. Would return in a heartbeat.

We found the Summer In Italy experience exceptional. From information to transfer bookings, it all worked a treat. We would give the whole process and our week stay a 10 with a star.

Travel tips

  • The shop next door is a bonus. We wanted for nothing.
  • The villa is in the perfect position. Sure, a healthy walk back from the beach and the action, but take the road instead of the final flights of stairs and time evaporates. Or you can bus it. But we walked all the time.
  • The view, the ambience, Positano… Love at every turn.

November 2022 - Great location, in Positano this apt looks west so sunlight is on the opposite hillside in the morning and the balcony gets afternoon sun.

The market literally 6 steps away was fantastic, which is very friendly family run business.

Margherita was very friendly and explained everything well.

It included some kitchen staples and beach towels.

Great place to stay

October 2022 - A great place to stay. Very clean and convenient. Amazing view from the balcony.

The host was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Would definitely stay there again if we returned to Positano.

Summer In Italy service and communication pre-trip was excellent. Always felt comfortable we had a resource to count on.

Travel tips

  • The buses were very convenient whether going into town or going to Amalfi.
  • Two favourite restaurants were da Restaurant Da Vincenzo and Restaurant Mediterraneo.
  • We enjoyed taking the ferry to Amalfi. Limited on trips as my wife had a broken ankle suffered pre-trip.

Well equipped apartment in a perfect location

October 2022 - We had a great time in Positano and our stay at Villa Sebastiana A. The location is perfect by being off the busy areas but still at waking distance to downtown and surroundings. The apartment is well equipped, bed is comfortable, and the view from the balcony is beautiful.

We were welcomed by Margherita, who was very friendly and thorough in explaining the amenities, as well as offering recommendations for things to do.

We highly recommend Villa Sebastiana A for your stay in Positano!

May 2022 - This apartment was amazing. The views out of the door in the living room are stunning! The place is clean, nicely furnished, and charming. There's even A/C upstairs and downstairs, and a clothes washer that aren't mentioned in the listing.

There's also a grocery store right next door for any wine, snacks or groceries you might need. It's also relatively close to the beach. You're not right there, but also, you're only about 5 my minutes away. You might want to think about getting a porter for your luggage uphill, though.

Would love to stay there again

May 2022 - Wonderful! The view was spectacular, the bus stopped right outside the door, 2 toilets, a kitchen with everything we needed including a dishwasher, a bed, a couch. Would love to stay there again. We enjoyed breakfast and supper on the balcony overlooking beautiful Positano.

The owner spoke excellent English and was very helpful.

The process of booking was smooth. I wanted to stay in Positano and enjoy a view and this property provided that.

Travel tips

October 2021 - Margherita greeted us at the door. She was friendly, sweet, kind, and very informative. She gave us great recommendations and shared her home grown props from her darling garden!

The place was comfortable and cozy with an amazing view! Surroundings areas are quiet. There's a small grocery store literally next door which makes it very convenient.

The one downside for us was the upstairs bathroom. The ceiling slopes inward forcing one to duck when using the facilities making it a bit challenging since we're both on the taller side. Otherwise, everything else was great!

10/10!!! The apartment is AMAZING

July 2021 - 10/10!!! We spent a wonderful week in Positano. Luca and his mother Margherita helped us check in and showed us everything.

The apartment is AMAZING. It's not too far from the beach and center, the stairs aren't as bad as in other parts of Positano, there's a store right next to it where we bought breakfast and dinner and we were even lucky enough to use the little garden below the apartment because the one below us was free. Fresh tomatoes and lemons for days!

Margherita was the nicest person ever and we absolutely loved this place. Of course, the view was the highlight. Unbelievable!

LOVED this apartment. The view from the balcony was even better than the photos

October 2019 - My husband and I stayed here for 8 days and LOVED this apartment. The view from the balcony was even better than the photos, just unbelievably beautiful at all times of the day.

We spent more than one night eating dinner on the balcony (when we saw the photos we didn't think it would be big enough for 2 people to sit out there comfortably, but it's actually much bigger than it seems in the photos!). Definitely recommend!

All good!

Communication before/during our stay was quick and perfect.

Travel tips

  • The location is amazing, the stairs to go to the main area of Positano/the beach are literally right outside the door to the right, and if you don't feel like walking stairs coming back, the road right out front is a much gentler slope and has GORGEOUS views on the way up/down!!!
  • There is a cute grocery shop right next door, which came in so handy for breakfasts/dinners in using the kitchen! (Also carries a good wine selection!)

Phenomenal location in Positano

September 2019 - The location of this place is phenomenal! Not only is the view amazing (tucked right into the upper hillside), but it was next door to the little grocery store and next to the stairs down to the shops, restaurants and beach. Of course you can walk down the street but the stairs are more direct (and a great workout!).

Mrs Margherita [the caretaker] met us upon arrival. She walked us around the small but cozy two floor apartment. Ground floor is the kitchen, sofa, powder room and little balcony. The second floor has a chair, tv, wardrobe, bed and full bathroom. The bathroom is tucked along the side with a curved ceiling. I’m 5’7 and I fit nicely but over that and you might have to lean here and there when showering. My husband is 5’10 and he was fine with it.The bed is comfortable enough and the cute little windows upstairs allows you to peer out onto Positano.

The weather was nice enough (end of September) that we slept with the windows open and only turned on the A/C when returning back from the warm days walking.

Ms Margherita sets you up with printouts of all the ferry and bus times and answered all of our questions.

We would definitely stay here again! Also to note, leading up to the stay the Summer in Italy team was very helpful and great with communication. Thank you to Mrs. Margherita and the Summer in Italy team for having us!

My favorite place

September 2019 - The apartment is as pictured and the balcony is the best feature! We spent a lot of time enjoying breakfast, aperitifs, and the night sky out there with an amazing Positano view.

This was one of my favorite stays of our vacation through Italy, and I wish we could go back!

Travel tips

  • A grocery store is right outside the front door and they have wonderful meats, cheeses, fresh produce and other items you might need.
  • We decided to walk through the streets and climb the stairs from the ferry to get to the apartment and we definitely broke a sweat while hauling our carry-on luggage up. It is difficult, and we did it because we did not understand the bus/taxi/roads system at the time.

Clean with a spectacular view of Positano

August 2019 - This place is clean, beautiful and has spectacular views of Positano and the beach.

Beware if you are arriving by ferry its tricky to get your luggage up the steep stairs to the house. Get a porter or figure out the taxi/ bus system.

Margherita, the owner, was delightful and it was a pleasure to meet her she helped us order a taxi service and explained the bus system to us which was really helpful and made our stay in Positano pleasant. She also brought us fresh lemons from her garden which was a delicious touch. We ended up making fresh lemonade and it was delicious :)

Overall we had a relaxing time here. Enjoy!

July 2019 - A really lovely apartment that had a nice feel about it. Amazing view from the balcony and we enjoyed eating breakfast our there every morning.

Great location, took about 10 mins to walk down to main beach of Positano but a lot of stair back up but lots of little shops to look at on the way. The supermarket next store was so handy and the owner was very friendly and made us an antipasto for our stay.

Air condition both up and downstairs which was great and also loved having a washing machine and dishwasher.

Margherita [the caretaker] was very helpful when we arrived and accommodating for our request for early check in. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone visiting Positano!

Perfect for us for our honeymoon!

June 2019 - Villa Sebastiana was perfect for us for our honeymoon! We stayed for five nights in June. We enjoyed wine and snacks on the terrace almost every night it’s one of the best views we found.

We are young but not super active so after walking up from the beach the stairs were a little much for us so we took the slightly longer route on the road almost every time. It was not bad though and we got to enjoy the views and walk off all the pasta.

Having the grocery store directly next door was HUGE. We got some wine and fresh sandwiches for lunch a few days and fresh croissants each morning. There is a busy stop right outside which is very nice. The AC units were key as well, there was one upstairs and downstairs.

The owners were so helpful too! We also love Margherita [the caretaker] who greeted us. She gave us some tips and ideas in what to do.

Overall we loved the space especially for the price and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Travel tips

  • We caught the bus right outside to Amalfi then took another one up to Ravello which is not to be missed!
  • Restaurant La Tagliata was also gorgeous and they have a free shuttle that picked us up right at the bus stop.

Affordable Positano

May 2019 - Our stay at Villa Sebastiana was great.

It's a good size for 2 people and right next to the city bus stop so very convenient. It is on a busy street, but the windows are on the other side. Although it's nothing fancy, it is a fine place to stay for a few days and a lot more affordable then the hotels in Positano. The management was very responsive with all communication.

Excellent base to enjoy Positano and the local area

May 2017 - Villa Sebastiana A was an excellent base to enjoy Positano and the local area. It was very convenient for the Sita bus which stops by the door and a mini supermarket which was next door. The steps down into Positano were also next to the front door. The view was stunning out of the little balcony which was just big enough for two people to sit out on.

The kitchen was well equipped and the owner had kindly left us a starter pack of food to get going with and some useful condiments eg. oil, salt, pepper, herbs and spices. The bed was very comfortable and generally the apartment was perfect for two for a short stay. Although the apartment is on the road, when you have the door shut you cannot hear it as the walls are quite thick. If you have the french windows open you can hear the road on the other side of the valley as the road winds around the slopes but it isn't too bad and you will get there where ever you stay.

Good accommodation for the right price.

Travel tips

  • Shop next door with local wine out of barrel - good, local sheep's cheese - good.
  • Sita bus goes to Sorrento in one direction and Amalfi in the other.
  • Good fish restaurants on the front.
  • Capri is possible to visit from Positano which is a good day out. Book the night before to assure a ticket.
  • We also managed to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum in a day - very interesting. Took the bus to Sorrento and then the train to Pompeii and Herculaneum. It is about 2 hours door to door.

Travel tips

  • We were let down by the shuttle bus that we hired to get us back to the airport on our last day and in hindsight, we regretted booking it. By the end of the week we were comfortable with the buses and trains and we would have made our way back to Naples via this route. If you do need a taxi back, book early in your stay. We found it difficult to secure one on our day of departure and we would have missed our flight if it hadn't been for the help of the people at the mini-market who called four taxi firms on our behalf to get us transport.

Very good

April 2014 - We certainly enjoyed Villa Sebastiana A.

It is excellently located for you to enjoy Positano and use as a central base for exploring the Amalfi Coast generally.

If you wish to eat in, the little shop next door has all the ingredients you require including a good selection of wines and the family that runs it are delightfully helpful people.

The SITA bus stop is outside the front door for inter village travel along the entire Coast.

The centre of Positano, with the ocean beyond, is your balcony view and all this is only a short walk via the stairs or a little more along the scenic road.

We didn't catch the internal bus once preferring the exercise as an offset to the good food and wine whether from the local restaurants or that which we prepared in the villa itself.

The facilities of the villa were ideal for the two of us and it was excellently presented and Margherita could not be more helpful.

We stayed in Sebastiana A and had access to the terrace of Sebastiana B with Margherita's [the caretaker] permission. Both are very nice villas and ideal for two senior people like ourselves, or a younger couple with small children using the fold out lounge.

Obviously the accommodation is compact as it often is in Europe but the small bathroom and toilet with diminished headroom were manageable. Very large people might have difficulty.

We came across Summer in Italy while researching our trip on the Internet. Summer in Italy provided us with a very professional service and gave us excellent information to help us plan our trip. The speed of response to any matter was exemplary and much appreciated. We have already mentioned you to our friends who are planning a trip to Italy and will do the same in the future if the opportunity arises.

Travel tips

  • The views along the entire Amalfi Coast are stunning and Positano itself is no exception. We walked all over it to get its many different perspectives and see all of its interesting features.
  • Restaurant Da Bruno and Bar Mulino Verde were two favourites.
  • We took day trips on the buses and trains and list Pompei and Ravello as standouts but there is much to see and do in Amalfi and Sorrento as well.
  • We visited the Paper Museum and Cathedral in Amalfi and had lunch in the main square in Sorrento before walking to the fishing village just outside the medieval town wall. And a good taverna is never far away.

Fantastic

September 2013 - We loved it! It was simple, clean and had everything you would need for your stay.

We were welcomed with home made cakes, limoncello, fruit and salami by the owner and most of the basics for cooking and washing were provided.

The bedroom was a really good size - light and bright.

We would rate it 5 stars for location and for the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner.

We thought the company were easy to deal with and found your instructions to the property really helpful. We would certainly recommend Summer in Italy and the Villa to others and hope to return as soon as possible!

Travel tips

  • There is a really good food shop next door to the apartment and the staff all speak excellent English.
  • The walk to the shops/beach is only about 5 minutes (about 10 coming back up) and if you keep to the road the gradient is very gentle and you are rewarded with fantastic views.
  • A really good day out is a trip on the Blue Line boat with Captain Peppe to Capri - one of our many highlights!

Good

September 2013 - We enjoyed our stay at the Villa Sebastiana A because we could self cater and yet were only a 5 minute walk down steps to the bustle of Positano and its restaurants and a 10 minute walk back up. There is a bus stop outside the door, and a grocery shop where we could buy anything.

We are SO impressed with Summer in Italy, Luca, with your efficiency and how easy you were to deal with. Thank you!

Travel tips

  • We caught the bus to visit Sorrento and Amalfi which was super easy with the stop outside the door and tickets available from the shop next door.
  • We enjoyed early morning walks up to Montepertuso and Nocelle, about 2000 steps to each. It's easily done if you take it slowly!
  • We loved the Bar Internazionale at the top of the hill and the walk down to the beach from there.

August 2013 - We had an amazing holiday. Organising a place to stay with Summer in Italy was hassle-free and they gave very detailed information so it was easy to find the place.

When we arrived, Margherita [the caretaker] was waiting for us at the bus stop. She showed us through the apartment and had even left baking and fresh vegetables for us!

The view from the deck was incredible so we spent many a night drinking vinos on the balcony.

Positano was beautiful and a great location for seeing the Amalfi and Sorrento Coast.

An amazing trip and a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommended!

Travel tips

  • SITA buses were great.
  • Pompeii - WOW, make sure you get a tour guide.
  • Day trip to Capri - jumping off the boat to swim amongst the grotto was a highlight.
  • Sorrento - best place to buy leather.
  • Positano - now one of my favourite places in Italy, amazing restaurants!

September 2012 - Villa Sebastiana was wonderful. My wife and I went for our honeymoon, and couldn't ask for a better place to stay. What we enjoyed most about the apartment was the view!! Just breathtaking, although the balcony was small, it was all we needed for two people to sit and have a glass a wine and take in the town of Positano.

Another thing we really enjoyed was having the grocery mart right next door, to get all our needs. As well the bus stop was right outside of the apartment as well.

Margherita, the owner, is such a kind soul and was ready to help with are every need. She supplied linens, towels, basic cooking essentials, olive oil, spices, balsamic. And a hairdryer. Speaks English well too. She was so pleasant and really enjoyed dealing with her.

Travel tips

  • Lots and lots of stairs I think my wife and I counted 360 on the way down to the beach, it's a very tiring walk up [local bus available, will take you to your doorstep] but think of all the pasta you will burn off in the process going up and down.

September 2012 - My husband and I just loved Villa Sebastiana A.

The view from the balcony was breathtaking both day and night. We sat on our balcony every night and took it all in. The apartment is exactly as it is represented on the website. Everything is very clean and appears to be very new. The kitchen had many items such as olive oil, coffee, sugar etc. for us to use, and Mrs. Margherita [the caretaker] even had homemade marmalade in the refrigerator.

The bed was very comfortable and there were drawers and shelves for us to unpack our clothes. We were there in the middle of September, and slept with the windows open every night, and never had a problem with mosquitoes. Not sure if this is usual or not, but it was nice.

There is a drying rack on the balcony that came in very handy for drying clothes when we did some wash.

Upon our arrival at the Naples airport we had a problem concerning our ATM card, and Summer In Italy was very understanding and helpful. We especially want to thank them for being there for us during a stressful time. (Luckily we did get the problem taken care of several days later.)

Mrs. Margherita met us at the bus stop, and took us into the apartment. She was very friendly and helpful, taking time to explain everything about the apartment and even offering helpful tips on places to visit, and getting around Positano. We would definitely recommend this apartment and Summer in Italy to anyone who asks. A big thank you to Mrs. Margherita and Summer in Italy!

Travel tips

  • The steps to get down to the middle of town (Piazza dei Mulini), and eventually the beach are right next to the apartment. There are alot of steps (231 to be exact), but if you don't want to walk these you can take the Interno Positano Bus which has a stop right next to the apartment. is bus will take you up and down from Piazza dei Mulini. You can buy tickets on the bus for 1.50 euros each, or buy them at the Tabacchi next to Bar Mulini for 1.10 euros each.
  • There is an alimentari (small grocery store) right next to the apartment, where someone speaks very good English, and they have just about anything you need, including SITA bus tickets, and they are very friendly and helpful. They even let us sample many different cheeses, telling us about each one, so we could buy items for a small picnic.
  • A nice little afternoon trip is taking one of the Interno Positano buses (marked Montepertuso/Nocelle) up to Montepertuso and eating at the restaurant Il Ritrovo. We had the best meal up there. They even provided complimentary appetizers, and then cookies after our meal. Afterwards we took the hike (it's actually very well formed steps) back down to Positano. The steps actually come out right by Villa Sebastiana A. There are 1200 steps, but it is pretty easy going, and only took us about 1/2 hr. and we stopped for photo opportunities along the way.
  • Make sure to go to La Zagara in the evening. During the day it sells the best pastries, but at night around 9:30 there is live music and was a delightful way to spend an evening.
  • Take some time and take the walkway over the rocks to Fornillo Beach and have a nice supper, or eat lunch at one of the 4 different beach bars. The walkway is located by the kiosks on Spiaggia Grande Beach where they sell all the boat tour tickets.
  • We traveled by SITA bus or boat for easy day trips to Paestum, Amalfi and Ravello, Pompeii, Capri and Sorrento. But make sure to leave time to just leisurely explore Positano, it's definitely worth it.

May 2012 - We had a most wonderful stay at Villa Sebastiana. Nothing was too much trouble for Margherita, who was there to greet us when we arrived very late off the bus from Sorrento. She showed us around the apartment which was exceptionally clean. There was everything we should need in the way of basics, i.e. toiletries, toilet paper, coffee, tea, sugar sauces, bottled water and lemons in the fridge, even home made marmalade. It was most welcome.

All the modern conveniences such as dishwasher, washing machine, coffee percolator, microwave, etc, worked perfectly and were in excellent working order.

We couldn't have wished for a better apartment in Positano and would stay there again.

We were most impressed by the attention given by Summer In Italy to our booking and all the trouble you went to in finding us accommodation and then all the advice and in particular the way you gave directions so that we couldn't possibly get lost. We wish we had spent more time and were able to see some of the sights. Next time we will take your advice and stay longer and visit many places. Thank you we will advise our friends to do bookings through you in future.

Travel tips

  • In the store right next door to the apartment you will find absolutely everything you need for everyday living, groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, fresh bread and croissants each early morning with a cup of refreshing expresso and the staff were most helpful and spoke excellent English.
  • The bus from Sorrento stops right outside the door of the Villa. Ask the bus driver to let you off at Liparlati stop in Positano.
  • Allow quite a lot of time to get to Positano by bus as our plane didn't get in till 2.35 and as we had to wait for the next bus to Sorrento and then connect again with the Amalfi bus we didn't get in until nearly after 6.00 p.m. [as an alternative to the bus, a car with driver can be arranged ahead of time]

April 2012 - Villa Sebastiana A was a wonderful place to stay. The villa is very comfortable and clean and newly renovated.

Everything was supplied like a hotel, from soap and shampoo to washing powder, pasta and tea and coffee.

There is a great family deli next door who are very friendly, sell almost everything, and speak English. The steps down to town are good exercise or you can catch the bus just up the road. The buses are internal around Positano and others run to other towns, Sorrento, Amalfi etc.

The landlady is very helpful and friendly and gives you local information.

We stayed a week and could have stayed longer we would recommend Villa Sebastiana A to everyone.

All worked well and the instructions were excellent, the bus driver did know were to let us off! Thank you.

Travel tips

  • The shop next door is owned by a lovely Italian family and they sell most things, we got to know them well.
  • The bus stops just up the road and goes down to the town centre, while other buses go on to other towns.
  • Boats go to Capri from the beach and it is a beautiful trip.
  • We caught the bus to Nocelle and walked along the top of mountains and down to Praiano, beautiful views and not too difficult (Path of the Gods).

The decor and renovations are innovative, but practical, and the view is spectacular!

Your booking system is fantastic - easy, reliable and informative! Directions were great and extra info was helpful!

August 2011 - I loved my stay at Villa Sebastiana.

The landlady is delightful - met my bus, provided me with her home made marmalade for my breakfasts, and gave me numbers to call if anything should go wrong. The villa is exactly as pictured on the site, but very very homey and comfortable. She'd even added a washing machine just before I arrived, so I had everything I needed for a wonderful week!

I have already recommended you to lots of friends. You are very organized, and my experience was a delightful one. I would book with you again.

Travel tips

  • It is 300 steps down to the town and beach, but the walk is very picturesque. I found it very easy to negotiate the trips down and up each day. There is a bus, but I preferred to get my daily exercise. Bring your camera, you will have a wonderful time!
  • The family that runs the store next door is also fantastic - very helpful and friendly - they made me feel very welcome.
  • Make friends with the 'spiaggia guys' - they will give you discount if you come to the beach late in the day! And next time, I would book a beach chair for a week - you get a chair by the water, and it's a cheaper way to go!
  • Prices in the stores drop a little after the weekend tourists have gone, so wait til Monday to purchase your gifts!
  • Don't just eat in the main town area. If you walk along the main road from the church square back towards Sorrento, there are a number of great restaurants along the road where the waiters dodge traffic to bring you your meals, and the food is sublime!!
  • Take the day trips to Amalfi and Capri - the "metro" boat is fun and fast. See the locals make Lemoncello and paper in their shops!

July 2011 - We enjoyed Villa Sebastiana A very very much!

Perfect location,on the main street right across from the internal bus and the Sita bus thus not smack in the middle of all the tourism of Positano (of course Positano is beautiful and very special)! You can take steps down into town or the red bus. No steps needed to enter the apartment. A fantastic "alimentari" (nice size grocery store) right next door and fruit and veggie place across, all belonging to the nicest and most helpful people you'll ever meet.

The apartment is lovely and very clean and is self-containing, air-conditioning in both rooms which can be used simultaneously.

The proprietor, Signora Margherita, is the best you'll ever find,in every way. A real pleasure and so helpful with everything. You can call her on the phone for any question or advice. Her English is excellent.(the grocery store family also speak a very good English).

Being at the apartment you feel so comfortable yet also you feel like you're in a piece of paradise. Great apartment, great people, great view, great Positano!

Whoever stays in Villa Sebastiana should know that they only need to bring their clothes and toothbrush/toothpaste with them. Signora Margherita has her apartment all set for you and I'm not even referring that she welcomed us with so much food, the best Limoncello ever (that she made herself) and changed our bedding and encouraged us to change towels etc. because there is plenty in the apartment.

Summer in Italy was terrific, Valeria always was more than ready to answer all questions and made me feel so good, nothing seemed to be a bother for her, on the contrary. She made me even more excited about the trip because she sounded so sweet and helpful. I came across the website by accident while e-mailing someone and was very happy to pursue because we really wanted to visit the Amalfi coast and you sounded very sincere.

Travel tips

  • Take time to use the internal red bus and visit the small villages/towns right near Positano.
  • Go in the evening to the bar/cafe very near the main piazza (the beginning and end of the internal bus line) from 22:00-2:00 to hear the best 2-men music combo!
  • Also visit the ceramic store, "Elisir di Positano" in town, really beautiful pieces and the widest range of ceramics, very different from the other ceramic stores. Wonderful help from the salesgirl Margherita.

June 2011 - We had an excellent time staying in Villa Sebastiana A! I'd recommend it to anyone who'd want to enjoy a nice quiet holiday.

The kitchen is well equipped, you'll find anything you might need.

The bedroom has a lot of space to store your luggage and there is enough closet space. The bed is queen size and very comfortable.

Also, extra towels and bed linen were available.

The service of Summer In Italy is excellent! All the information necessary is found in the voucher. I have been booking with SII for several years now and I have nothing but praise. I've recommended you to some of my friends and acquaintances.

Travel tips

  • There is a bus stop a few steps away from the villa. Bus tickets available at the shop next door! From here you can access the bus to various locations such as Sorrento, Praiano, Amalfi, Ravello.

October 2010 - We enjoyed out stay at Villa Sebastiana A very very much. We felt almost like part of the local community as we got to know the people in the shops nearby - who all spoke excellent English.

We are quite fit pensioners and enjoyed very much the walking and climbing we did. The villa was also in a great position to get the local bus which we used extensively. A small problem was that the bathroom ceiling slanted and we are both very tall...!!

You've been wonderful!!! We had a super time!!

Travel tips

September 2010 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Sebastiana A.

It is small, but perfect for one couple, and fittings are of a high standard. The weather was very warm, and we were delighted to have 2 air-conditioners (upstairs and down) which ensured that we were comfortably cool at all times.

The location right beside a grocery store is excellent when one likes to cook meals as we do.

In this regard however, the kitchen lacks some basic utensils such as an egg turner, kettle, bottle opener and cutting board.

The only drawback with the villa is the 231 steps down to the city centre, which become very tiring to climb to return to the villa [bus service is available when you don't feel like walking].

We have nothing but praise for the owner of the villa, Mrs. Margherita, who made every effort to welcome us and satisfy any of our requests.

Travel tips

  • The SITA bus driver refused to take note of the instructions provided by "Summer in Italy" regarding stopping at the Liparlati stop. Instead, he insisted we get off at the Positano stop approximately 1 km before Liparlati, and we were forced to take a taxi the remaining distance - at a cost of 15 Euro.
  • My wife and I were extremely disappointed by the rude attitude of the bus drivers on both bus lines - Curreri and Sita. The Curreri driver watched a soap opera on a small video screen mounted on the windscreen while he drove to Sorrento, a practice which all passengers found very disturbing.

August 2010 - First, I never give anything the top rating as that would imply there is no room for improvement and let's face it there is always room for improvement. Even so, this was a most wonderful housing arrangement.

We felt no concerns whatsoever about security, the neighborhood was peaceful, and the view was remarkable.

It was fun to be on higher ground and the view overlooks the point at which cars can go no further, Piazza Dei Mulini. So much takes place at this, the bus stop, church, and the important point at which you can employ the use of the porters. There are two companies providing these services, but ask for Pasquale with Blu Porter and be sure to say his Americano/Mexican friends promote him.

The interior of the villa was the cleanest, most tidy and efficient use of space. Don't expect your American size rooms, although the bedroom was unusually large and unique in its upper level, open location. This was just fine for the 2 of us, but if you have more than 2 staying, remember there isn't much privacy between rooms. It was fun looking out the window at night to see the lights in the buildings all the way up the hill.

The kitchen is new and very clean so enjoy some meals "at home" and save a buck or two. Plus, if you pick up some of the precooked foods at the Delikatessen Positano (just at the top of the stairs from Piazza Dei Mulini before you head down to the beach) you'll get the best of both worlds - precooked Italian and home cooked meals.

However, you must head out to the Italian cuisines - be sure to check out Bruno's on Via C Colombo 157. It's just a walk DOWN the stairs to the main road, then left up the hill a short way. Beautiful view of the entire coastline!

Villa Sebastiana was wonderful overall and you can't beat the hospitality of Mrs. Margherita! She went out of her way to help us in coordinating with the taxi driver and was accommodating in every way to meet our time requirements. Thank You, again, Mrs. Margherita!

And, we arrived in Naples and hired a taxi to take us direct to Positano. We highly recommend Marciano Autonino Scialone "Junior" and really enjoyed driver Giulio ([email protected] or www.scialone.com). It is worth the taxi ride after a long flight. The other option is to jump off the plain & catch a train to Sorrento, then a bus or boat to Positano. Or you could boat from Naples, but it's a long trip after the long flight, plus you have to drag your bags to the shore.

I should also mention how convenient the grocery store is just next door, but there is also a wonderful couple operating the grocery just down the steps from the main church down by the beach. Giovanni & Daniela are truly the most hospitable and helpful couple, going out of their way to get you what you need. Stop in & say you've heard about them from the Am/Mx couple.

To Mrs. Margherita and anyone wishing to stay at Villa Sebastiana, I highly recommend it!

Summer in Italy is one of the most efficient online services I've ever used. I have repeatedly used them and will come back. The people who correspond with me via email are the most pleasant, understanding and knowledgeable people. Did I say polite? This is truly a wonderful service.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared to walk and explore in Positano. Every walk presents some discovery whether its local life or places to shop.
  • If you must have a lounge chair at the beach be prepared to pay. But if you can sit on the ash beach, just buy a towel (about 7 Euros) and maybe an umbrella to drill into the sand (less than 20 Euros). What you spend once for these items will save you 3 times that on the lounge/umbrella. Suit your wallet.
  • The beach is busy beginning after April and through September and it begins to cool in late Sept.
  • If you want to spend a day at the beach, pack a lunch - the walk back to the Villa gets easier each day, but why waste the time when you could pack & eat on the beach.
  • You will have a wonderful time in Positano - full of surprises and wedding nearly every day!
