September 2010 - Villa Palmira looked exactly like the pictures on the website which are great.

The apartment was great but the cooking facilities were limited - only top of the stove burners - we missed having an oven or microwave or bbq.

We had one problem with a leaky shower and it was dealt with promptly.

The swimming pool was heavenly and, as it was September very quiet.

The little town of Acciaroli was very quaint and picturesque - restaurants were great.

We loved having our own little private patio with a table and chairs - we spent all our time out there.

I can't say enough good things about Summer in Italy.

The website is very people friendly and covers places from very affordable to luxurious.

Our info was so helpful - the directions easy to follow.

I have recommended you to everybody I describe our trip to.

Travel tips

  • We had neighbours at Palmira who were without a car and they complained a lot about the distance to everything. [Prospective renters please note: we at Summer In Italy do recommend having a car to stay at this location, as the villa is uphill from the village and the walk is not for everyone]
  • The little grocery store in town was great.
  • There is a nice sandy beach in town.
  • We spent a lot of time by the pool and driving short distances to little villages close by.

July 2010 - We had an excellent time at Villa Palmira! The views were spectacular. The gardens were meticulously maintained and the staff were very helpful.

The manager really didn't speak English (except for a few hotel words such as "check in", "check out" etc...). It was not a big problem, it is just good to know so that you can be prepared ahead of time with your English/Italian translator or dictionary!

We thought Summer in Italy did an excellent job, and really, how you described the place was very good.

Travel tips

  • For North American guests: be prepared for some harrowing driving. While the views from the coastal roads are breathtaking, the hairpin turns and streets beyond narrow faced you whenever you wanted to drive to any destination in the area.

September 2009 - Very enjoyable. It was quiet in September with only one or two other couples staying. It was a pity that the restaurant on site was closed. While understandable, it would have been useful to know this at the time of booking.

Kitchen was very rudimentary with only a hob, no oven, so self-catering ability is very limited.

The 'village' was closer and easier to get to than we imagined from the brochure. In fact Acciaroli is more than a village, we would describe it as a marina/resort with pretty good facilities mobile phone shop, Internet cafe, numerous high-end shops etc.

Unfortunately the opening dates of the on-site restaurant vary, and so we are unable to anticipate what they are going to be. We apologize for the inconvenience. Future guests are welcome to enquire with our staff, and we will be happy to check.

Travel tips

  • Acciaroli is a good 3 hrs drive from Naples Airport.
  • Boccaccio is by far the best restaurant in Acciaroli and does great take-out pizzas too.
  • The ferries stop going in mid-September.
  • Make sure you visit Castellabate - very atmospheric, hill-top village.

June 2009 - Villa Palmira E is in ground floor of a stylish house and there is also a lovely pool area and tables by the pool where you can enjoy delicious dinners created by Sergio the chef.

The owner Mr Catello and his family are very nice and helpful and we had a really relaxing holiday in Acciaroli.
