June 2014 - We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Leopoldo A.

The town is peaceful and very beautiful and the apartment had lovely views and convenient for walking into the village. The grounds in the surroundings are very pretty and the swimming pool was great too!

Summer In Italy service was excellent. When we had a little problem with the key to our apartment being broken, you all responded quickly. Thanks so much. We found you on the internet.

Travel tips

  • Montisi is a quiet village, we were the only tourists there.
  • There are 4 or 5 different places to eat which range from expensive/awesome to cheap and cheerful.
  • There is one small shop to buy food but they often didn't have milk.
  • They all prefer cash over credit cards and there is an ATM.

August 2011 - Nicely self contained apartment in a nicely self contained hilltop town. A complete charm offensive.

July 2011 - Loved staying there and would definintely recommend it for others. A beautiful setting, marvelous views from our private patio and a very nice garden area with swimming pool. The bedrooms are large with private bathrooms.

Highly recommend for families and couples.

One could not ask for a more gracious host than Alberto. Very friendly and helpful, making us feel at home in his lovely Villa. Everything was perfect!

This was our second time booking through Summer in Italy. Why? Because all the arrangements were perfect, the villas as advertised, and a problem-free transaction, just as it should be. Keep up the good work!

Travel tips

  • Beautiful central location for touring of hilltop towns of Tuscany. Montisi is a wonderful place. The people there are friendly and very helpful. The town has a small market, bakery and coffee shop where everyone gathers for a morning coffee. A Coop in nearby Sinalunga provides all your other shopping needs.
  • Roberto's, across the street from Villa Leopoldo, is a must for dinner or lunch. The owner/chef is really into the slow cooking movement with great recipes. Be sure to make a reservation, leave your cell phone at home and arrive with a smile -- otherwise you won't be seated.

August 2010 - Beautiful location and wonderful owner, very helpful in local sites and practical help. Even managed to get us wireless Internet for a reasonable cost. The apartment and facilities are as described. Very peaceful and relaxing.

No negatives to this location and apartment. We were lucky in that the other 2 apartments were empty during our stay, so the facilities and pool were at our disposal.

Summer in Italy provided an excellent web site and easy, efficient and transparent booking process. Very responsive to any questions even on the weekend of arrival.

Travel tips

  • We ate at two great restaurant's in the village. Restaurant da Roberto has excellent local food and wines. Roberto is very personable and provided excellent wine pairings as well as helped in visiting unique vineyards in Montalcino (Brunello's). The other restaurant was Restaurant La Romita, no menu or wine list to see but just sit back and enjoy the 4-5 course meal as it appears from the kitchen. Each course was unique to the area, using organic locally sourced produce of the season. Different meals for "The man, the wife and the daughters." All courses were enjoyed by all four of us.
  • Shopping for major supplies can be done at the new Super Coop in Sinalunga, about 10-15 minutes away on a scenic drive. The local baker, and grocery store provide the basics.
  • Excellent location for visiting Montalcino, Montepulciano as well as Chianti and numerous other wonderful medieval hill towns.

July 2009 - Absolutely perfect for a relaxing time in Tuscany. Great location, and great facilities.

Friendly, helpful (but not intrusive) owner on site.

Montisi is a charming and unspoilt village, with bar and delicatessen.

Booking through SummerInItaly was a joy: everything was as advertised and Luca was very helpful.

We would go back in heartbeat!!

We plan to use you again, and would definitely recommend your services to anyone!

Travel tips

  • Just one word of warning, our experience with the restaurant opposite Villa Leopoldo (Da Roberto) was very disappointing: lots of pretension, but very poor quality. However, there are excellent restaurants in the nearby villages of San Giovanni d'Asso and, especially Trequanda (Ristorante Conte Matto).

August 2008 - A simple yet charming apartment in a beautiful old building with everything we needed.

Montisi is a superb location to explore southern Tuscany, the village small yet providing all basics - bar, shop, taverna etc.

The owners were quick to respond to our requests and accommodation in every way - also giving us a guided tour of the estate, its important preserved salons and explaining its history.

This is a super apartment for two couples, with its terrace, quiet garden and pool providing both sunny and shaded areas to suit the mood.

Additional services can be arranged on site on arrival ie: pool towels can be provided f.o.c., washing and ironing is available for a fee.

Travel tips

  • If arriving on a Saturday, remember to stock up on the way - the little village shop is ok for extras but not a main shopping expedition. The best nearest supermarket was the co-op in Torinieri, but the co-op in Pienza was also adequate and Pienza itself is lovely.
  • Try and book a balloon flight before you go with ballooningintuscany.com despite the early start its a wonderful way to see the area, the launch site is just below the village and Robert & Liz are great hosts.
  • If visiting in August try and join in with the village "Contrada" events and dinner to see and feel a real bit of local life.

Unfortunately, Villa Leopoldo A can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
