October 2014 - We absolutely loved Villa Jessica. It was such a great surprise that it looked just like the pictures on the website. It is why we picked the Villa the views are spectacular.

We had wine each night on the upper deck, read books and relaxed on the second level deck. We had breakfast each morning in the Villa and had two dinners in the Villa during the week.

The bathrooms were well equipped, and the bedrooms were large with a wonderful view as well.

The noise factor was a bit of a problem. A neighbor has a Jack Russel terrier that barked a lot and in the middle of the night. There was a cat that got into fights almost every night. That just made me laugh, but it did waken me. Our favorite noise was the rooster in the morning. Otherwise, we felt very private.

I love your newsletter. I started reading it after we signed up for Villa Jessica. Your "hints" about life in Italy were great.

All in all we had a wonderful experience.

Travel tips

  • The owner gave good suggestions for places to go and we did.
  • We loved going down by the water, watching all the activity, having a Bloody Mary or two. :-)
  • We traveled by bus around Positano or we walked or took a cab.

June 2014 - Villa Jessica was fantastic. Me and my wife had our best vacation ever in this beautiful house.

Large rooms and plenty of space. The terrace, garden and patio are incredible.

We have fallen in love with Positano...

Summer in Italy is like Christmas for a Child... so many houses and apartments... and very easy to deal with... you`ve made our future vacation plans very easy.

Travel tips

  • In Positano you should go out for dinner, there's good food everywhere and the wine... by local.

May 2014 - Beautifully maintained, and well-equipped, this was a perfect perch to relax at all hours and drink in the view of the sea.

Since it is 70 steps up from the road below (and 184 steps down from the one above), it is quieter than one might expect, and there are no autos rushing by your front door.

Laura [the caretaker] was the perfect hostess... attentive, but respectful of our desire for privacy.

Our experience was seamless with Summer in Italy. We would definitely use your company again for future trips... next time we are planning a couple weeks in the northern Lakes region.

Travel tips

  • We hired a driver to take us from our Naples hotel to Positano, and didn't have a car for the week.
  • Day trips to Mount Vesuvius / Herculaneum and Amalfi / Ravello were arranged with the same driver, and were excellent. It was also a great way to practice our Italian!
  • As with much of the Amalfi Coast, strong legs help with the many steep climbs.
  • We had help from Laura's son and manager up and down to the road with our luggage on arrival and departure, but other than that you are on your own!
  • Excellent restaurant advice from Laura. We never had a bad meal in town.
  • Best overall dinner experience was at Restaurant Next2.

August 2013 - Villa Jessica was great and we really enjoyed it.

We went in the summer and we had to pay extra because we went over the electric usage to run the air conditioners.

Villa Jessica was an excellent choice for us and we would stay there again! Summer in Italy was great and returned all my emails promptly, which was nice since I didn't have my cell phone working to make overseas calls. I was very impressed with Summer in Italy and have already recommended them to friends.

Travel tips

July 2013 - We loved staying in Villa jessica. The views from the terrace are spectacular. You cannot ask for better.

All of the rooms were very spacious, beds were comfortable, the AC worked well and the kitchen nicely equipped.

The owner and her family were most welcoming and kindly helped us with our luggage up the stairs which was most appreciated. They sincerely want you to like their home and have a nice stay. They are helpful when you arrive and go over details of how things in the home operate. Much appreciated.

There are about 70 steep stairs from the street to the villa door and there is no handrail. It sounds worse than it actually is and at night there is lighting on the stairs if you get home after sunset. We chose to walk the street rather than catch the bus because it allowed us to better enjoy the views. The street is more of a grade than a steep hill and by the second day you will be used to it.

We would not hesitate to recommend the villa.

Travel tips

  • Take an Amalfi coast grotto tour with L'Uomo e il Mare. They have a booth on the beach and you need to book ahead. Swimming in the water, going into the caves between Positano and Amalfi and the gorgeous coastline from a small boat should not be missed.
  • We used a driver, Marco Puglia, Sorrentocardriver.com, for a day tour to Amalfi, Pontone, Ravello and Conca dei Marini. He is an excellent driver, good English, safe and punctual. Highly recommend taking a driver for a day. We used him several other times to visit family in the Naples area and can highly recommend him. Do not miss seeing Ravello. It was our favorite place on the coast. Breathtaking views. Exquisite ceramics. Charming.
  • We liked every restaurant where we ate but Il Fornillo was our favorite. Good espresso at the bar on Piazza dei Mulini. Great pastries made fresh every morning at Bar International by the SITA bus. Very reasonable wines and great fresh ricotta at the Latteria down the hill.

June 2013 - Villa Jessica is just beautiful. Great location near local restaurants and markets that really makes you feel like a true Italian. The view from all the terraces is absolutely spectacular. This home is beautifully appointed with everything you need.

Our family had an unforgettable week in Positano. I would strongly recommend staying at Villa Jessica to enjoy everything Positano has to offer.

Summer in Italy staff is professional in every way!! They are easy to work with and prompt with return emails and phone calls.

Travel tips

  • Take a walk up the stairs to Bar Internazionale for the best cappuccino, pastry and panini.
  • There is a market and a butcher shop right on the same street where you can get everything you need to make a great dinner.
  • The local restaurant down 2 sets of stairs (Saraceno d'oro) has delicious food at a reasonable price.
  • The local bus (Positano interno) has stops near Villa Jessica that comes in handy when you want to avoid a climb from the center of town.
  • There is a free boat ride that takes passengers to and from both beaches (Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo).
  • It's easier to take the ferry over to Amalfi (about 25 minutes), no need to worry about parking.

June 2013 - Villa Jessica was a real jewel. The people and the location and the views were perfection. Would go back in a minute when I save up the money.

Certainly was superior to any hotel if you enjoy doing what you want when you want to. Also, less expensive.

You were very prompt and thorough during the entire process. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • The best pizza in all of Positano and Capri is down the hill from the villa at Saraceno d'Oro.

June 2013 - It was much more than we had anticipated. Everything was just as it was shown in all the pictures. The villa was beautiful and very large. The outdoor space and the views from the terraces were amazing. We found it hard to believe that we were surrounded by such beauty. The villa was very orderly and clean.

We were made to feel right at home by the owners Laura and Gaetano when we met them.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The first morning we all slept late since the shudders kept the light out and it was so quiet.

We were very happy with your site. You were attentive and helpful at all times and on many levels.Thank you!!!

Travel tips

June 2013 - Great location. The outdoor patios and views were wonderful. The owners were very helpful. They met us on arrival to help us to transfer our luggage to the house and familiarize us with the area. I would highly recommend this villa for a vacation in Positano.

We found it easy to book and the travel information provided very helpful. We found the home to be as described on the web site. We had no negative surprises.

Travel tips

  • There are many steps in Positano. We found it better to use the local "internal Positano" bus service to travel up from the beach, stores and restaurants than use the stairs when going up. Although our children, age 27, 24 and 19 did not mind the stairs, at age 60 and 53 my wife and I preferred the local bus which was easy to obtain.

April 2013 - We absolutely enjoyed Villa Jessica!

The location is perfect, much more active than Praiano and not as crazy as Amalfi. There was construction going on during the day, but we were out for most of it either hiking the Path of the Gods or touring Pompeii, Capri, and Ravello. The views from the terrace both day and night were exquisite. We all slept soundly and were ready for another day of tackling the steps and stairs!

Summer In Italy had the best villas, were very easy to work with, were informative and responsive and very clear in your instructions. We would definitely use you again.

We regret any annoyance from the nearby construction. In densely populated area, where "real people" live, it might happen from time to time that a neighbor performs some renovations, it would be silly to say that this can't happen. Most of the times there is no advance notice, of course. In this cases, we work with the property owners and with the builders to minimize the noise, particularly early in the morning. In small communities which thrive on tourism, there is always a great degree of reciprocal respect and understanding. When minimizing the noise is not possible, we support our guests by helping them relocate to a different home. To tell the truth, this has happened in no more than a handful of cases over the last decade -- however we are sure you appreciate knowing that you will have our total support and assistance in such an unfortunate situation.

Travel tips

  • The homemade wine (vino rosso) at the grocery store near the bus stop is very good table wine, 4 EU per 2 litres.
  • The restaurant at the bus stop was also very good (we were too tired to go anywhere else, but delighted).
  • We loved the meal at La Tagliata's in Montepertuso. The restaurant comes and picks you up. There's no menu
  • from the prosecco starter to the limoncello finisher, you just eat what they serve you... go easy, there are many courses! Then they bring you back... a wonderful evening, and it's reasonable too.
  • Buses are easy to figure out.
  • The highlight of our trip was hiking the Sentiero Degli Dei (Path of the Gods). It was spectacular!

October 2012 - We loved Villa Jessica from the moment Laura welcomed us and showed us around her villa. It's cleanliness, special touches, spaciousness, views, facilities, and proximity to town all combine to make it one of the best!!

Thought that your site, service and information has been really professional, informative and helpful -- great to get immediate feedback and tips on how to get to accommodation as that is what concerns tourists as they move from one place to another. I would also highly recommend Rainbow Limousines for transfers -- they were well organised, prompt, professional in conduct and dress and very friendly and accommodating.

Travel tips

  • Give yourself at least a day just to hang out in Villa Jessica and enjoy the view from the terrace -- best way to unwind and appreciate all it has to offer.

October 2012 - We really enjoyed this beautiful villa. Liked being in a neighbourhood rather than a touristy area.

The 70 steps from the road were challenging but we managed and it was probably good for us given the wonderful food we ate while out for the day! Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was a dream in which to prepare and cook food. Given the comfort and quality of most furnishings, the living room could stand an update (2 small chairs better suited for children than adult men). We used dining chairs instead.

Overall a delightful experience.

Summer in Italy was recommended to us and we would definitely use you again and recommend to others. What we saw and booked was exactly what we received - very refreshing.

Travel tips

  • Avoid La Tagliata restaurant. Restaurant Next2 was really special and walking distance.
  • We went out to Ravello (lovely) and Capri by boat (not to be missed)
  • If you want to spend time on the terrace in October, need to be out there early in the afternoon because the sun goes behind the mountain, making it cool.

Terrific location. Downtown is a long walk (for good exercise) or bus ride. One of the highlights of our trip throughout Italy.

You guys do a great job! Keep up the good work.

Travel tips

  • 70 steps up to property door are steep but can be done by anyone if you take it very slow and take multiple breaks. The stairs are the same for every property in Positano as far as we could see, so it's not any worse than other places.

August 2012 - We loved Villa Jessica... so much that we are already planning a return trip.

Laura and Gaetano [the owners] were incredibly gracious hosts. We felt as if we were guests in someone's home, rather than tenants of a rental property.

This was our 6th trip to Italy, with Positano always being our favourite. It was with this in mind that we wanted to spend a full week of our two-week vacation here. We couldn't have picked a better place to call home.

The temperatures were extremely high during our stay, so unfortunately, spending time enjoying the beautiful outside spaces during the day was impossible... but each and every evening we enjoyed our Prosecco, fresh cheese, and prosciutto before heading out to a late dinner.

The location is superb. We were happy not to be too close to the real touristy area. Walking into town was much welcomed exercise (worked off all of the pasta).

We wouldn't think about booking a villa without you. Your prompt and informative responses to our emails were very much appreciated.

Travel tips

  • We looked forward each morning to the climb up to the Bar Internazionale for fabulous coffee.
  • We avoided all of the restaurants down by the beach, as we much preferred Restaurant Saraceno D'Oro and Restaurant Mediterraneo, the local restaurants recommended by Laura [the owner] and owned by our neighbours. We did however dine at Restaurant La Tagliata, and it was not just a good meal, but a really nice overall experience. Laura made our arrangements for us.
  • The produce at 'Non Solo Frutta' is fantastic and the wine prices were incredible.
  • The meats and cheese at the shop across the street were also wonderful. You will pay almost twice as much the closer you get to the beach.
  • My best advice regarding travel to nearby towns is to arrange for private transportation if you are travelling in high season. It is well worth the extra expense. It was close to impossible to get on a bus returning from Amalfi at peak times.
  • We brought a small collapsible cooler with us and some zip-lock bags. We packed it with frozen water bottles and sandwiches to bring onto the beach. This also worked well when we travelled around by train.

July 2012 - I had very high expectations and Villa Jessica exceeded them all. The villa is amazing, the location perfect to experience the real Positano and the owners were fabulous. I was there for one month and it was not long enough!

You did a wonderful job! Thank you for your superb customer service.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared for steps. The good news is that you can eat pasta everyday and not gain too much weight!
  • The local grocery, butcher and wine store are convenient. One of the grocers will deliver... a big plus!
  • The nearby restaurants are wonderful and their owners fun and welcoming. Don't miss Mediterranean. Several restaurants in the the mountain villages will provide transportation and they are wonderful!

A great experience. Your web site is very easy to use and the follow up was excellent. We will definitely be using your services again on our next trip to Italy.

Travel tips

  • Although it's a hike to the main shopping area, the location allows you to get away from all the noise and commotion.
  • There are multiple ways to get to the beaches and the steps of Positano could be a challenge for some, the roadway walk is not at all difficult.
  • Restaurant Next2 was a fabulous dinner location within a 5 minute walk from the villa.

May 2012 - We absolutely LOVED everything about Villa Jessica. Our stay in May was with two of our adult children and it could not have been better.

Laura [the owner] is terrific and incredibly helpful.

The villa is outstanding in every way. Not only beautiful but comfortable and well appointed. We felt at home from the moment we arrived.

Positano is not to be missed. We particularly loved Villa Jessica because of it's location where we could be part of the town rather than a tourist; perfect! We went to the local markets and ate like kings. Positano is a wonderful location to get to many surrounding areas as well!

Travel tips

  • Get in shape for the steps! lol And don't worry about anything you eat :)
  • There is a great market to your right as you get to the top of the stairs on the right side of the street, and just beyond on the left side is Bar Internazionale, great for cafe and pastries.
  • To the left and across from the top of the stairs is a butcher that is also very very good (but took us a couple days to find because they weren't open when we were first there).
  • Just walk everywhere and you will find new things everyday... and get great exercise.
  • Take a bus to Meta to catch a train to Pompeii or a bus to Amalfi to another bus to Ravello.
  • Outside of this buy local cheese (wonderful with local honey - trust me on this) and meats and wine and just settle in on the lovely verandas of Villa Jessica.

April 2012 - My family (myself, husband and two daughters, aged 20 and 23) had a wonderful experience at Villa Jessica and Positano.

The villa was clean and up to date. We loved that there was WI-FI. The visitors book in the villa offered us lots of hints and suggestions. Laura, the owner, was helpful and sweet. We LOVED the on-site lemon tree! The terrace was our favorite spot of the day... so hard to leave.

We had a rental car and the parking was close and safe. I would highly recommend this to family and friends and we are ready to come back ourselves!

Booked with you because of choice of villas and opportunity to book for less than one week. Great communication and connection with owners. Felt like all was as I expected.

Travel tips

  • Read the visitors book... saves time finding shortcuts and what to do as a tourist and what to steer clear of.
  • We walked and climbed... our choice... wish we had found Fornillo beach earlier in our stay... a special spot!

October 2011 - Villa Jessica was a delight. It provided a relaxing holiday retreat. Large and spacious it was a villa with all comforts.

The view was one of the best in Positano so there was nothing better than enjoying casual eating and good wine on a magnificent terrace.

June 2011 - Villa Jessica is amazing with the most spectacular views. Laura [the owner] is a beautiful lady and extremely helpful. We felt very much at home here. The property is spotless and very well equipped. The balcony is magnificent, so big, with breathtaking views.

Climbing all those stairs to the villa is great exercise - means you can enjoy all the beautiful food that Positano has to offer and then walk it all off.

We had an absolute ball staying in this beautifully appointed and well maintained villa.

Summer in Italy is fantastic. Booked through you by chance finding on the Internet and would thoroughly recommend your service. Enjoyed getting the newsletters prior to our trip (they were most helpful). Don't really think there is anything to improve on.

Travel tips

  • Just be prepared to walk everywhere with lots of stairs.
  • Restaurant Da Bruno is a great restaurant as are all the other restaurants recommended by Laura.
  • Half-day sightseeing trip to Pompeii was great - we were picked up at our villa, taken to Amalfi, then on to the tour which went via the Amalfi coast (beautiful) and then returned via the other direction. We therefore saw the whole of the Amalfi coast with the most fantastic views. Bus driver and tour guide were great.
  • Definitely go to Da Adolfo for lunch. Get the small boat from the beach and then enjoy a great day swimming and eating (about a 10 min boat trip).
  • Trip to Blue Grotto a must - we booked a tour from a company situated on the beach (sorry, forgotten name). Got a small boat to Capri via the Grottoes, had lunch and looked around before getting the fast boat back.
  • Also took a local bus trip to Sorrento and enjoyed lunch there, also good shopping in the old town - so rustic and quaint.

The owners are very nice. Laura, the owner, said if we would have asked she would have purchased milk, bread, butter, jam and coffee for us before we arrived [prospective guests: please feel free to make arrangements with our staff]. There are many steps in Positano but what a true Italian village. The owner, husband, and son carried are bags to the villa for us. The husband helped us with the bags also when we left.

We will think about returning there.

I really enjoyed working with Summer In Italy and will recommend your services. My friend had found you on the internet and told me. Luca I would have enjoyed meeting you.

April 2011 - Villa Jessica was exactly what I was looking for. It was spacious and comfortable with a gorgeous terrace with chairs and a view. The villa is fully equipped.

The local owner is wonderful. She speaks English very well and met us at the bus as planned. She also, very graciously, agreed to pre-purchase groceries for our arrival, since many stores are closed on Sunday.

The villa is located within walking distance to town, but yet is not in the noisy area. There are 170 steps down to the villa and another 170 steps down to the nearest restaurant. The two local restaurants she recommends are excellent.

We would definitely go there again if we visit Positano in the future.

Travel tips

  • The owner will help you with your luggage, so you do not need to pay extra for a porter. She will also give you a ride to the bus stop when you leave.

March 2011 - The stay at Villa Jessica was wonderful. The villa was well outfitted with all the necessities for a peaceful and relaxing visit. We took turns alternating between going out for dinner at the little restaurants close by, or buying food at the little stores near by and cooking for ourselves.

The terrace was wonderful with a good view of Positano, the sea and the moon and stars at night.

The villa is well situated and it was a short walk to most of the sites to see in Positano.

Travel tips

  • Please be advised that the countryside around Positano is steep and hilly and the villas are built into the hills. As a result there are a lot of stairs to climb everywhere you go. While it's not a problem if you are used to exercise it could be difficult for people with mobility issues. On the other hand that is part of the charm of this region.

June 2010 - We loved our stay at Villa Jessica! The Villa looks exactly as shown in the pictures and is spotless.

As far as location, there are lots of steps, but on the flip side you have the most beautiful views from the terraces and the option of easily exploring up or down the mountain.

Our party went out to dinner each night but loved having the full kitchen for our breakfast, sometimes lunch and snack times.

The owners are incredibly nice and make the stay that much more pleasant.

As stated the villa has two roomy bedrooms and can sleep a third party in the living rooms pull-out sofa. I will have to be honest and say that the pull-out sofa for a third party may need further thought as it is extremely uncomfortable. Other than the sofa situation the stay was perfect and magical.

This was our first time booking with SummerInItaly and we have already recommended SII as first rate!

Travel tips

  • As far as travel tips go for this area, invest in some good walking shoes, it will make or break your enjoyment of this special area of Italy. Woman need not bring anything over a 1 inch wedge heel (non-wedge will not work) for dress up evenings as some of the stairs are very steep, and roads are narrow etc. You will see the odd woman determined to teeter on heals but it really is as odd to see as someone going swimming at the beach in stilettos wearing a diamond tiara: it's just not that kind of place. I would say the dress would be casual to casual smart in the evenings.

May 2010 - There are no negatives when speaking of your stay at Villa Jessica. Summerinitaly do a wonderful job. The owners are there from the moment they greet you and they are a cell phone call away if you need ANYTHING!!!

The house is quite large and the outdoor patio/garden area could support a cocktail party for 100 people!! Did I mention the view? High above the Amalfi Coast Villa Jessica commands exceptional views over the sparkling Mediterranean Sea with it's ever changing silhouettes against the blue sky.

The house is spotless, sheets smell fresh and lovely fresh cut flowers in master bedroom. Very well equipped kitchen/outdoor pizza oven and grill. From your bed you can see the sea. There is a balcony with french doors... You become a witness to "Divine generosity".

A small commuter bus is at the base of the stairs (72 steps) for a quick ride 3-5 mins. into the base-village of Positano. We preferred to walk down the one-way narrow ribbon-like road for the views... 10 minute walk, if you don't stop to shop or "graze". The little bus is 1.50 Euro (cheaper if you buy ticket at Tabacchi shop) and it does a 15-20 min. loop all over Positano area so you can hop off and on. Above Villa Jessica is the SITA bus (Bar Internazionale stop) which takes you to Sorrento (north), Amalfi (Ravello). Groceries, pharmacy, fish store, butcher, Tabacchi shop, restaurant are here also. It is 89 steps but you are carrying wine and food down hill!!! Bring a cloth bag to tote purchases in.

Summerinitaly are perfect.

Travel tips

  • We caught train from Rome to Naples (1st class 67 euro/1 hr and 20 mins), then get driver to pick you up: we used www.flaviogioia.com, phone: +39089811895. 45 euro per person. If you get in a mess like we did, the owner will bail you out: give her a cell phone call. Hiring a driver is hassle-free! When SITA bus stops you have to open undercarriage and retrieve your luggage on a busy road. Folks grab wrong luggage: put your cell number on your luggage.
  • 2 weeks would have been better...
  • Ravello was a favorite!! Speed ferry 25 mins to Amalfi 6 Euro, SITA to Ravello 2.50 Euro and 15 mins. Pay the 6 Euro to see Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, first eat at Cafe Amore along the way.

May 2010 - The villa (and the town of Positano) was heaven on earth. No one should miss the opportunity to go there; this was my second visit and I fear it is being "discovered".

The owners were lovely and always helpful.

Summer in Italy was efficient and helpful throughout the process. No worries.

Travel tips

  • As indicated repeatedly - DO NOT GO anywhere in Amalfi if you think you might not be able to walk it - it's a week-long stair-master, so exercise before you go.
  • If you go to the ruins at Paestum, make sure you take the morning boat to Salerno, then catch the bus AT THE MARINA bus stop to Paestum - we wasted an afternoon due to bad information at the main station and almost didn't get back to Salerno, then to Amalfi, then to Positano.
  • We had rented a car on our last visit to Amalfi, not worth the trouble.

We are honored and flattered. Thank you, you made us all feel so proud!

Travel tips

  • Bus transportation was so easy and very close by. Bus takes you to Sorrento, Amalfi, going to Ravello was harder [it requires taking an other bus from Amalfi].
  • Don't try the restaurants up the hill, they are tourist trap, the best restaurants we liked are C'era Una Volta (you can order your pizza for take out and they have combination with lots of different kinds of meat) and Trattoria Grottino Azzurro (they got omelet so as The Positano Cafe) by the Bar Internazionale. The other restaurants are Chez Black down by the beach in Positano, Restaurant Saraceno d'Oro and Trattoria San Gennaro Pizzeria in Praiano, Ristorante Pizzeria Santa Croce in Nocelle.
  • For transportation from Naples to Positano be sure to use Francesco [email protected] +393383387393, he is so nice reliable, on time and gives plenty of advice.

Laura, Gaetano & the boys [the owners] could not have been more welcoming, from helping to lug my daughter's 25 kg suitcase up the stairs to providing us with enough firewood to heat Positano.

The website pictures do not do justice to the property. I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. The terraces and the view were breathtaking. The villa was spacious, well-equiped and immaculate.

I suggest reading all the past guest comments as they were very helpful--there were no surprises about the unbelievable amount of steps!!

Laura [the owner] was very helpful and gracious. I hope that someday I am fortunate enough to return.

Summer in Italy was top rate! I only chose you by surfing the web and liked everything I read about the company and the properties. Everything was done in a timely and efficient manner. All questions were answered promptly. If anyone has a concern about booking online--DON'T!!! I would recommend Summer in Italy to everyone! (I already have!!) Keep up the good work.

Travel tips

  • The SITA and orange buses are great! DON'T TAKE A CAR!!
  • La Tagliata is a must (shuttle will pick you up and bring you back.) The food is endless and the staff warm and welcoming.
  • We tried many restaurants within walking distance and they were all reasonable (more so than in town) and delicious.

September 2009 - We found the villa to be perfect, the scenery is stunning.

There was plenty of space and the owners were on hand at the beginning of the visit to help us with any queries. They were very friendly and were keen to talk to us about what our requirements may be for our holiday.

Positano itself is a beautiful location and you can get easily to other destinations, i.e. Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi and Pompei, all worth a visit.

Travel tips

Don't bring a car and save a lot of money. You really don't need one.

Summer in Italy was very helpful every step of the way in the process. They are a very professional organization.

Travel tips

  • Positively don't bring a car to Positano! Italian cars (from Rome) are outrageously expensive. Our car sat in a parking garage for 18 euro per day in Positano! We used the car three times in two weeks. You can take ferries to all the coastal towns and buses to Sorrento and Ravello (after a ferry to Amalfi). Take a bus from Rome to Positano and get a cab to Villa Jessica.
  • You can have your groceries delivered to Villa Jessica for the price of whatever you want to tip the delivery boy. The grocery store, fruit market and butcher shop are about 120 steps up from Villa Jessica which was very convenient.
  • We got a 10% discount at the Saraceno D'Oro Restaurant for staying at Villa Jessica [please check with our staff for more discount offers available to travellers who book with SummerInItaly.com].

August 2008 - I cannot think of a better place to have spent a large portion of my honeymoon. This villa is absolutely perfect. I could rave about any number of specifics, but will focus here on: the view, the kitchen, the outdoor area surrounding the villa, and the owners.

The view from Villa Jessica is astounding. Upon arrival, my wife and I were literally speechless at the beautiful scenery. We spent our first few hours at the villa simply lounging in the provided patio furniture gazing out at the sea. Every morning we would wake up to the same view from the bedroom terrace. The view alone makes this place worth renting.

The kitchen is also something worth raving about. After spending 4 hectic (and expensive) days in rooms we were looking forward to settling in and cooking some of our own meals. The kitchen at Villa Jessica is well stocked with all necessary amenities, and the local markets provide tremendously fresh local produce.

Although we thoroughly enjoyed the inside of Villa Jessica, the real beauty of this place is the outdoor setting. There is as much room outside, as there is in, and you should definitely take advantage of this. There are essentially three separate patio areas at the villa, one of which I did not even know about until the 3rd day of our stay because of the expansive nature of the property. Fig, olive, and lemon trees are scattered throughout the outdoor area, adding the to the charm.

Lastly, the owners of Villa Jessica are perhaps the two most delightful people in Italy. Laura and Gaetano could not have been more thoughtful and accommodating during our stay.

My wife and I are already discussing a return trip to Positano ---- and we will only stay at Villa Jessica. This place is great.

Summer in Italy was a fantastic site. Easy to use, very straightforward, and well run. You provide great information from everything from travel to and from the villa, to suggestions about the locale. Well done Summer in Italy, and thank you for all of your hard work. Laura and Gaetano at Villa Jessica are great people and I am happy to have found them thanks to you.

Travel tips

  • It's been said by others, but it is worth mentioning once more: be prepared to walk, and walk a ton when staying anywhere in Positano. The steps are everywhere, but we really did not find it too difficult to navigate.
  • If you'd like, the local bus service is quite easy to take, but we choose to walk to all of our destinations.: It's about a ten minute walk to the center of town and the Spiaggia Grande. In many ways it's easier to avoid the steps altogether and simply navigate down the main road.
  • When swimming or sunbathing, opt for the smaller and less hectic Fornillo beach. It's a bit further (15-20 minute walk), but it's devoid of swarms of tourists and boat traffic.
  • Grab lunch at Cafe Pupetto while you're there ---- the Tonno e Mozzarella sandwich and Caponata were favorites of ours. The price, service, view, and portions can't be beat.
  • Also, most guide books tout the merits of places like Restaurant Chez Black, which is located in the center of town. If you'd like a more authentic experience (and frankly a better meal) stick to the places higher up on the hill. This is where many of the locals tend to eat, and it's really much better. Mediterraneo was by far our favorite place (only 5 minute walk from the villa ---- we ate here twice. Great food, great people), although Saraceno D'Oro and Gabrissa were fantastic as well (both 5 minutes from the villa).
  • When you stay at Villa Jessica, be sure to read the journal! There are some more great tips from those who have stayed.

August 2008 - We had a great time in Villa Jessica. There were 5 of us staying but the place is enormous so we bounced around it!

As we were in Positano for a friends' wedding there were 25 of us in the resort in total, we often had friends over for the evening as the terrace is great for relaxing and eating and drinking. Considering the resort is so densely packed the vast outside space we had was excellent.

Travel tips

  • We often cooked in the villa. There is a really good butchers a few flights of steps above the villa, and plenty of grocery stores and fresh fruit and veg stands. They are all very reasonable so we stocked up and spent plenty of evenings using the BBQ on the terrace.

July 2008 - I spent five weeks at Villa Jessica, and plan to go back - perhaps next year, certainly no longer than the year after.

I was there long enough to get into the rhythm of the town and neighborhood, and it is all good. The fireworks at night, the bands in the street on a Sunday morning, the great local restaurants and "local" white wine.

June 2008 - We all loved Villa Jessica, the views were fabulous, the villa itself was spacious and very clean. Laura and Gaetano were excellent hosts and answered all of our questions and gave us tips on sites to see.

We would recommend Villa Jessica to anyone traveling to Positano, the location was perfect... quiet, and yet accessible to great restaurants, shops and the beach too.

Thank you for providing such a pleasant villa for us.

Wonderful advice from Luca at Summer In Italy about Villa Jessica, excellent vacation location. Thank you for your service, I will recommend it to others.

Travel tips

  • You won't believe the beautiful views of Positano and the comfortable villa. Everything you need is provided for.

May 2008 - Villa Jessica is a gem. It is beautiful, stylish, well-maintained, and very private, and it offers a great value for the money. I have stayed in two other villas in Positano and Villa Jessica is my favorite.

The view of the sea and the town from the three upper terraces is breath-taking and the lower terrace affords shelter from the sun and is a great place for dining al fresco.

The downstairs of the house stays cool in the heat and air conditioning is provided in the upstairs bedrooms which makes for a comfortable stay.

The water pressure in the bathrooms is good and the hot water tank is large enough to provide hot showers for all guests, which can be quite rare in Italy.

The owners, Laura and Gaetano, could not be kinder, more considerate, or more helpful.

The location is excellent, although you must be able to negotiate many steps, as is true in the rest of the town as well: 79 steps from the main road up to the villa.

We loved this place and will certainly rent it again when we return to Positano.

You have an excellent staff. Andrea answered every question I had quickly and cheerfully and simply couldn't have been more helpful. He is a real asset to your business. I will definitely book again through Summer In Italy.

Travel tips

  • Take advantage of having a kitchen while staying in an area that has the best produce in the world - you will never taste a better tomato than in Positano.
  • The grocery store at the top of the hill from the villa has everything you will need - you just have to be able to carry it down all those steps.
  • Bus tickets are also sold in this area, either at Bar Internazionale or at a little shop across from the bus stop. It is from here that you can take the bus to Amalfi or Sorrento (to connect with the Circumvesuviana train that will take you to Pompeii. Pompeii is an inferno, even as early as May so be prepared.)
  • If you buy a 24 hour ticket (6 Euro), you can use it on any bus in the region for that amount of time. Be sure to validate the ticket each time you board a bus.
  • Tickets for the "interno" bus (1.50 Euro) can be purchased on the bus, but that is not true for the SITA bus, the one you will take to go out of town. Those must be purchased ahead of time at the shops I mentioned previously.
  • The food is excellent everywhere in Positano, but our favorite was Restaurant Grottino Azzurro, which is located at the top of the hill near the food shops and bus stop. Their dish called manicaretti (a huge ravioli) made with fresh pasta can't be beat.
  • Day trips to Amalfi, Ravello, and Capri are a must.
  • If you need transportation to or from Naples or anywhere on the Amalfi coast, I would recommend Giuseppe from Travel-art.it (39 3393169169). He is efficient and kind and even dragged our bags up two floors once we reached Naples. We also used him to go from the B&B in Naples to the airport and he showed up promptly at 5 AM.

May 2008 - I have not been able to stop raving about our stay at Villa Jessica. After seeing photos and hearing about our stay, many of my friends and co-workers have expressed an interest in renting Villa Jessica or a similar property. I have given your web site info to at least a dozen people who are very interested.

I would like to thank Laura at Villa Jessica for her kind assistance when needed. The villa is beautiful and Laura was very helpful. I don't know when I have enjoyed a vacation so much.

I was fearful that the pictures of the properties on-line would not portray the reality, but I was so happy to find that the reality was more spectacular than the on-line pictures or descriptions. You made finding our ideal property and booking a simple matter even for someone who is not particularly computer-savvy. Your site is very thorough, secure, and professional looking. You do an excellent job.

Travel tips

  • The easy access to public transportation made day trips to neighboring towns stress-free.
  • There is so much to do and see that there is something for everyone's taste.
  • I got in shape and built stamina for walking all day and navigating up and down the steps.
  • We enjoyed just walking about the town, shopping, and sampling the cafes and restaurants.
  • Day trips to Amalfi, Ravello, and Nocelle were a must-see.

May 2008 - Once you accept that if you want to do things in Positano and in the general Sorrento and Amalfi areas there are steps, the Villa Jessica is perfectly placed. The 80 steps up to the main road are challenging but compared with other villas and hotels, Jessica's access to buses and walking down to the town and the sea front couldn't be better.

We were two couples in our fifties who found the Villa absolutely enchanting. There is so much space with the chance to eat inside or out. The terrace is spacious and commands a remarkable view of the sea, the hills/cliffs behind and the town below.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would book the Villa again without hesitation.

Keep on doing what you are doing. By providing a very personal and honest service you are making a holiday booked via you something very special. Your attention to detail was impressive.

Travel tips

  • We found the boat trips to Capri and up the Amalfi coast a charming way to travel around. We also took buses that are driven expertly by the local drivers who know the winding narrow roads along the coast.
  • We would recommend you do NOT drive yourself not just because of the tricky roads but due to the fact there would be nowhere near the villa to park the car at night.

May 2008 - I can't say enough about this property or Laura (the owner) and her husband. We had so much fun and such a relaxing time at Villa Jessica. Just what we wanted.

The villa is beautiful but be prepared to walk stairs. I suggest taking the local bus and walking down to the villa if you go to the beach or in town. But everything is there. Market, veggie store, butcher just everything. And the villa has everything you need and more!!!

The local bus lets you off at the International Bar which is a great place to stop for a drink or coffee before going back to the villa, very friendly.

Laura also has all kinds of brochures and info in the villa to go and do anything you want to in the area. We took the boat cruise to Capri and had a fabulous time. I will definitely be going back, not only to Positano but to Villa Jessica

Great site and easy to look and pick out places. I would suggest your site to anyone going to Italy

April 2008 - Our stay in Villa Jessica was excellent. We had a fantastic time in Positano and Villa Jessica made it even better.

The villa is in a great location and Laura, the property owner, greeted us and gave us a tour of the house and also some tips for the area.

A market is a "few" steps above which was quite convenient and numerous restaurants are steps below which we tried for dinner a few nights during our stay.

We enjoyed the large terrace and loved that both bedrooms had terrific views of the sea. Additionally, the living room was a good size and the kitchen and dining room area gave us enough room to hang out and enjoy some wine and play cards.

I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to others traveling here. It was hard to leave!

We had a great experience coordinating our rental with the staff at Summer in Italy. They were very informative and answered all our questions relating to our trip, some of which didn't apply to just the Villa. Additionally, all staff responded quickly to all inquiries. I would definitely recommend to others to work with Summer in Italy. It was a pleasure to coordinate our stay with such informative and pleasant people. I hope we can plan another trip to Italy soon. All the best!

Travel tips

  • The Villa Jessica is in a good location of Positano and if you take two flights of stairs down to where the main road is (where the bus drives through) you can walk a little further down the road and find a set of stairs that will take you directly down to the main part of Positano. We counted and it's approx. 560 steps down to the main area where there are a few restaurants and the beach. It's a great walk and the views magnificent.
  • We also walked the street below and there are a number of restaurants
  • a pizzeria Il Forno which was great (try the "mother-in-law" pizza) and another down the road, Cafe Positano -- if you sit outside you have a great view of the town.
  • Also, we recommend calling for a shuttle to take you up to the restaurants in the town above (I believe called Nocelle). We had them pick us up next door at the Best Western and had fun at Restaurant La Tagliata.

March 2008 - We enjoyed our stay very much! Villa Jessica was awesome!

Flowers outside on the terrace were nice :)

The villa was as great as it was presented in the Internet.

Terrace was just great! Big, spacious, gorgeous view, nice place to hang around and to barbecue :)

The owners of the villa were very nice and very helpful.

Everything worked extremely well with renting the villa. We were very happy with the service.

Travel tips

  • One point to notice is that there are really a lot of stairs overall the city -> you need to be in good shape :)
  • Overall in the Amalfi coast, if you rent a car, note that the roads are really narrow -> the driver should be experienced. Parking is also sometimes really hard. However, it was very nice to have a car -> easy to travel along the Amalfi coast and to drive to Sorrento, Vesuvio etc.
  • Positano itself and the other cities in the Amalfi coast and the coast itself are just so beautiful! We enjoyed very much driving from Positano to Amalfi, Maiori and Ravello. Visiting one or two cities made a nice day trip.
  • Vesuvio is definitely worth visiting! Just note that it is quite of a climb up the mountain...
  • Capri is also worth visiting. In the beginning of March, when we visited the island, it was nice and quiet there (not that many tourists). But most of the shops were closed except shops that sold souvenirs.

Comfortable beds, good view, clean, spacious and excellent value.

Parking was close by.

Travel tips

  • You do have to be in decent shape for the stairs in and out of the house.
  • Do put the food away at night because the ants do find things.
  • Stop at the grocery store as advised in the directions provided by Summer In Italy before you get to town.

October 2007 -

We loved Villa Jessica. We had so much fun sipping our wine on the terrace every night before we went to dinner. The view was beautiful.

There were good restaurants with great food within walking distance. It was a 15 minute walk to the beach/town area, but the walk helped wear off all that wine and food we enjoyed.

We spent all our time outside, but the villa was well done and clean.

Laura [the owner] was delightful and was there when we arrived and was on time at checkout.

Thank you.

Travel tips

  • There is a market one street level down for wine, coffee and snacks.
  • Arrive in shape. There really are 72 steps, not counting the steps to town.
  • We used a driver from Sorrento and also used one to take us along the coast for a day. Don't drive!

August 2007 - We very much enjoyed Villa Jessica and would say that the presentation on the Internet did not begin to demonstrate the beauty of either the setting, the view or the house itself.

The size of the rooms and the colors both inside and outside couldn't have been better chosen.

The walk to either the town, the beach or up to the road was somewhat arduous but the local bus took all the work out of it.

We were pleased with the entire transaction with Summer In Italy. We thank the staff for responding quickly to our questions and for perfectly taking care of our stay. We selected SII because we wanted to be in Positano and you had what we considered to be the house best suited to our needs.

Travel tips

  • It is well worth the trip to Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento.
  • It is best not to drive but to take the boat or bus, whichever is better for your schedule.
  • There are beautiful towns with good restaurants. Montepertuso, a bus ride up into the hills provides beautiful views and two very good restaurants.
  • My favorite activity was waking up in the morning and going out on the terrace to take in the view.
  • Trips to Capri and Pompeii are not to be missed.

July 2007 - Our family enjoyed our stay at Villa Jessica.

We really enjoyed the villa as it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The exterior and interior were beautiful and personal.

The villa is decorated with nice personal mementos and pictures of Positano.

From our villa we were able to see many of the summer activities, such as fireworks. We were able to relax and enjoy the wonderful view!

We found Summer in Italy very helpful and delivered everything as promised. They provided a lot of information and promptly returned our emails inquiries. We would recommend Summer in Italy.

Travel tips

  • The owner are really nice people. They wanted to make sure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.
  • There are many restaurants and local stores nearby.

June 2007 - Villa Jessica was beautiful, the rooms are large and spacious, the ceilings are high making the house cool and inviting.

The owners are helpful and friendly and ensure that you feel at home, yet on holiday.

Positano can get busy, however spending time at the villa allowed you to escape from the crowds when needed, but still remain in touch with the vibrant Amalfi Mediterranean spirit.

It doesn't face on to the beach side of Positano, yet still provides spectacular views. It is quite high up the cliff face so, although we always walked down to the beach, the return journey was with the internal Positano bus.

The villa is a great warm welcoming place to stay and easily had space for the four of us, with space for six being comfortably available.

I would recommend this villa to any visitor to Positano who wants to be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the lower areas of the village.

We had an excellent week and highly recommend it to future travellers!!.

Excellent service, no problems and everything worked out well. Keep this villa on the books.

Travel tips

  • If you are not up to walking up and down steps everyday you might want to give Positano a miss. But we really enjoyed the whole experience. We were a party of two adults and a two year old (she especially loved the steps!)

May 2007 - Fantastic house, splendid view and a fabulous place. One of the most beautiful houses in the village.

We did indeed enjoy our holiday in Villa Jessica very much.
