Wow!!!!! I've stayed in Positano a few times, but this location for me was the best

August 2023 - From when we arrived the communication and luggage assistance was excellent. The house itself was PRIVATE and quiet!! We spent every night on the top terrace eating home cooked meals and listening to the quiet streets of Positano.

This is the place to stay if you want to be close enough to the centre but far enough for some peace. The beach only 6 min walk away and is super quiet there too unlike the centre beaches. LOVE. Thank you

May 2023 - Villa Greta is a beautiful property with spectacular views!

The sun terrace and gardens are gorgeous. My husband and I truly enjoyed our 5 night stay! I would go back in a heartbeat! Free parking was a bonus and the AC worked extremely well! Only note the shower was sometimes lacking hot water and water pressure; however, my husband and I were aware of this from previous reviews.

The hosts were very helpful in every way.

Summer In Italy was wonderful in answering all of my many questions prior to arrival etc. Thank you for all your help!

May 2023 - We had a really lovely time at Villa Greta. It was perfect for the two of us. The villa itself is lovely - just like the photos and very clean. The terraces blew us away - the flowers, the lemons, the view - all so breathtaking. Everything is kept up beautifully. Wi-Fi, which was the most important to us, was not working when we arrived. One call to the owner and the staff came over immediately to fix it. They were absolutely fantastic! Met our every need.

The road noise did not bother us, being from NYC. The location was very convenient - with 2 groceries nearby, the bus stop right across the street, and an easy walk into town, and a fantastic restaurant just down the road. We would definitely come back.

Summer In Italy was great. Thank you all for all your help. I kept asking questions and everyone was so pleasant and helpful. I felt very comfortable traveling with your company. Would use your service again.

Travel tips

  • Excellent restaurant - Casa Mele is just down the road.
  • Restaurant Adamo and Eva at the Eden Roc is also very good and close.
  • 2 groceries - one on Via Cristoforo Colombo, and one on Via Guglielmo Marconi.
  • Hike down from Montepertuso leaves you off right by the property.
  • The Walk of the Gods.
  • Capri and Amalfi.
  • There are so many day trips one can take...

May 2023 - Villa Greta was excellent. It was in a great spot and had everything we needed. The view was spectacular and was great to have a car space.

The manager of the property was very helpful and looked after us.

We enjoyed our stay and if we come back again would definitely book Villa Greta again as it was perfect. Can't really think of anything to make the villa any better to us, it was all good.

Had good service from Summer In Italy, replied very quickly to emails.

Travel tips

  • Enjoyed a meal and drinks in the nearest bar Li Galli which was great and just by it was a grocery shop with a lovely owner who made his own wine!
  • A boat ride to Capri was great and kayaking from the beach going along the coast to see the villa.

Fantastic

September 2022 - We absolutely loved Villa Greta.

Although on the busy road I would still say that it provided a tranquil atmosphere as we were transfixed by the beautiful surroundings. The terraces of this property are spectacular and we even had the company of the friendliest cat in Italy!

The only downside I would say is the bathroom which requires updating and the water pressure makes the shower pretty much useless, we got by and it certainly didn't spoil our holiday but had this been better then this villa would be perfection!

I was very happy with Summer In Italy services, very helpful and friendly.

Travel tips

  • Having the private parking is a godsend in Positano!
  • If you have a car leave it parked in the space provided and walk, it is easier and less stressful.
  • The shops and restaurants in Positano are fabulous and not too much of a walk. I had just had a foot operation in July but managed the walks (September) which were not as steep as I had thought.
  • Everyone in the area cannot be more helpful.
  • Try a lovely beachfront cafe called Paradise Lounge Bar for a daytime drink/snack. You reach it from one of the lovely little back streets heading to the beach.

August 2019 - Villa Greta was a beautiful experience!!!

It was a dream, everything anyone needs to experience in Positano. It was exactly what we were looking for in Italy. A place we will never forget!!

We decided to book with Summer in Italy because Melanie helped us choose the right villa for us. We told her exactly what we were looking for and Villa Greta was the place. I will recommend Summer In Italy to anyone who is looking for a property to rent in Italy. GRAZIE MILLE!!!

Travel tips

  • Although you may have to climb 277 steps, Arienzo Beach was beautiful.
  • Markets are close by.
  • Future guests should know that walking is the sensible way of getting around Positano.

May 2019 - Villa Greta was great. Even though close to main road we were not bothered by noise. A bonus was watching the Giro d'Italia drive right past front door.

On the downside the water pressure in bathroom shower is not good. Kitchen needs a teapot.

March 2019 - Thank you soo much. We had an absolutely fantastic time in this perfect love nest with a perfect location and very friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts. We would love to come back to Villa Greta.

The lemon cake which we received as a welcome gift was really delicious. So nice of you we didn't expect that. The heating worked well and the WIFI was a brilliant plus. We also were glad to have the parking. Everything was in walking distance so that we easily just could leave the car parked in front of the house.

It was one of the best houses I have stayed so far. Mille Grazie xxoo.

Thank you as well to the Summer in Italy Team. You have been absolutely helpful and attentive. There is nothing to criticize about. You provided us with all the information which is needed for the stay in Positano. Very good service. Molto bene!!!

July 2018 - Villa Greta is large, not far from Positano center and from the beach -- although many steps :-).

The living room and the bedrooms are excellent. From the terrace you get a magnificent view on the sea. However, it takes some time to sleep well due to the traffic (especially noisy bikes), because the villa is only 10 meters above the main street and the locals probably do not walk. Nevertheless, they are nice.

June 2018 - Villa Greta was really good value for money. Don't let the location onside of road put you off as the traffic is light and slow and actually makes for interesting viewing when having breakfast can watch the walkers!

The bathroom is and decor bit dated but serviceable. The terrace has sun all day.

The beach is 350 steps but makes for good exercise. We enjoyed the walk into town.

I would recommend as really cheap way of staying in Positano .

October 2017 - We loved the location of Villa Greta.

The street can be a little nosey but with the AC on we couldn't hear it. Loved the private balcony. We were eating dinner up there one evening and fireworks were going off just as we finished our meal.

Thanks for all your help. We really appreciated the details provided and the courtesy of all of those we communicated with.

Travel tips

  • Take a day trip over to the Isle of Capri from on of the boat services down on the beach. We used Gennaro and Salvatore. The boat excursion was the highlight of our trip.
  • Those NOT faint of heart, we had a rental car and traveled up and down the Amalfi coast. Well worth the stress of driving. Villa Greta has a parking space, a must on the Amalfi coast.

October 2017 - We enjoyed Villa Greta very much. It is just outside the town center which is easily accessible by walk, no need to take the car or the bus.

Travel tips

  • Although there is bus transportation to various other towns, it is not very comfortable as they tend to be overcrowded. The cost of driving to other towns and paying the parking is probably the same as taking the bus for two people and is more comfortable.

August 2016 - Villa Greta was an open planned Villa within working distance to Positano. It has a great outdoor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea covered by fruit trees and surrounding by various herbs.

The sleeping area was comfortable and the owners were kind enough to provide a cot for our child. The kitchen was very modern and there were clothes washing facilities available.

The villa was a great place to base yourself if you didn't mind a short work into the centre of town. Parking was available which was much more important than we had realised. The only negative was a bit of road noise.

A great property and highly recommended

You guys did an excellent job. You were very attentive and ensured we had all of the information that we needed. We would certainly recommend you to others.

Travel tips

  • Best suited for a couple with/without kids. The open planned nature means little privacy if you have a third person staying.

May 2013 - We spent 12 glorious nights at Villa Greta and just adored it. The position being just a short walk from Positano with the shops and restaurants.

The bus stop right on the doorstep either going to Sorrento or the other direction to Amalfi etc. meant either way we were lucky enough to find seats instantly or the next stop as the buses do get rather crowded.

The villa was perfect, with the most amazing views, very high standard of cleanliness, all the modern appliances etc. with an excellent wifi connection and just perfect.

Thank you very much to everyone who assisted us before, during and on our departure.

June 2012 - I stayed at Villa Greta in June 2012 for 2 weeks. It is a beautiful villa and does look just like the photos.

It has the most magnificent view of the ocean and of Positano. Absolutely perfect to experience while having morning coffee or afternoon drinks! Security was very good with private parking (a rarity). The bed was extremely comfortable, kitchen very well equipped.

It was an extremely serene experience.

My only concern was the noise from the main road, particularly from the motorbikes and buses (that toot their horns as they turn the nearby corner).

Luca at Summer In Italy provided a fantastic service, very responsive and proactive.

May 2012 - This was our first experience renting a villa and I would rent Villa Greta again in a heart beat.

The villa has all the amenities Americans are used to: wi-fi, washer, dryer, dish washer, large refrigerator (Italian large), microwave, 1 1/2 baths (half bath in laundry room) and a wonderfully equipped kitchen.

The house is small but perfect for 2 people. It is clean, nicely maintained and charming. There were only 20 steps up to the front door versus the uncountable steps of other villas near us.

It had a wonderful, although small, patio just outside the front door where we often ate lunch. All views from the patios (3 of them) and windows were fantastic views of the water. We watched the fishing boats and cruise ships come to shore all day long and saw the lights on the water at night. Beautiful.

The walk to town was about a mile. Everybody walks, so although there is no sidewalk and you're walking very near, and sometimes in the street, cars are expecting people walking so it never felt dangerous. Italian neighbours began greeting us on our daily walks into town! The experience was like living someone else's life for a week. Wonderful!

We were welcomed by the owner's staff, shown the villa by them and we often asked them about bus schedules, a porter for luggage to the pier etc. They were always very pleasant and very helpful. We couldn't have been happier with how attentive the staff was to our needs.

We thought Summer In Italy were great... with a wonderful sense of humor too! Loved your information, very helpful and through. We also found it comforting to know that you were only a phone call away should something not be right. We booked with you because you had so many more listings available for the area than other places and also YOU WERE THERE and not in California!! We would highly recommend you and have. Thank you! We think you're wonderful!

Travel tips

  • Both small nearby grocery stores were very friendly, usually someone spoke English. Their fresh, locally grown fruits were delicious. The mozzarella was also wonderful.
  • We hired a driver for a day, Marcello. It was not inexpensive but it was all day, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and was really worth it. His family lives in the area so he has a wealth of information about where to eat, where to go in addition to all the sites he took us to. He is well read and has a vast amount of knowledge about the area and history. I highly recommend Marcello. We reserved our time with him before coming via email... [email protected].
  • One place Marcello took us to was Villa San Marco, an ancient Roman villa that has been excavated... it is privately funded, and has basically no tourists because of its remote location... you have it basically to yourselves. We ate at the bar and the small restaurant both having tables set along the sidewalk along the path going down into town from Villa Greta. Both had very good food.
  • The bathtub and shower are one unit. The tub is very deep, about 24 inches, so you must be agile to get in and out.

June 2011 - My wife and I stayed here for one week on our honeymoon this past June 2011. It was a fantastic experience! The staff were very attentive to all our needs.

The location is about an 8 minute walk out of Positano and is right in front of a bus stop if you choose to ride.

The house amenities were perfect for what we were looking for. The kitchen was brand new (granite, dishwasher) which made it easy to cook meals in for dinner.

The air conditioning was a nice plus for sleeping in the hot summer nights.

The roof terrace overlooks the water and the rest of Positano. The closest beach is about 15 minute walk down steps, it is public with the option to use umbrellas etc.

What a great villa!

Travel tips

  • Make sure you make a reservation at Restaurant La Tagliata. It was the best meal we had in Positano on our last night there. Family style meals for 35 euro per person that included everything! It's family owned and operated which made it that much more special. The night we ate there they had live music and dancing. Perfect.

June 2010 - Villa Greta was a great place to stay.

Bus stop right outside the door and thankfully only 10 steps from the road. Only a short 10 min walk to the town.

The Villa itself did not disappoint. Everything was there and the hosts were very helpful. And although the road is right by the villa it is not very noisy.

We would recommend the Villa to our friends.

Travel tips

  • We used Villa Greta as a base and caught bus up and down the coast. This seemed more sensible as the stop was outside the villa. Plus if travelling to Sorrento you were able to get on before the masses. If going to Amalfi then the odds are you will be standing. But that said, it was not unpleasant.
  • A day trip to Capri is a must.
