June 2015 - We loved Villa Fucsia especially, the outdoor deck, which is where we spent all our time.

It was extremely clean which we appreciated.

You were very helpful with all my queries and everything went smoothly. We would use you again and would certainly recommend you.

Travel tips

  • Although we were told of the caretaker's shop, there is actually a supermarket much closer, turn right once you walk along the path to the town hall, it is just up the hill a little way. Much easier than walking through the tunnel to the other shop.

June 2015 - My husband and I stayed in Villa Fucsia mid June 2015. This really is a beautiful villa, very clean with everything you will need for a fantastic break.

The views out to sea are stunning and the outside area is very private with a gas barbeque and many choices of seating/eating areas.

We love it here and will be visiting again without a doubt.

All the staff we dealt with at Summer in Italy were so helpful - nothing was too much. We will definitely book with them again.

Travel tips

  • Ask the caretaker to book you a boat trip to Capri - the boat is far superior to those you will book independently and only holds 12 people.
  • Restaurant Onda Verde is well worth a visit - super views and lovely food.
  • We hired a car and although we had fun driving the mountain roads, we really didn't need one as the local transport is more that adequate and a lot easier than trying to find parking spaces in the neighbouring towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello.

Fantastic

June 2014 - Villa Fucsia is a tranquil and quiet house located in a beautiful spot on a cliff overlooking the sea.

The terrace is amazing, we were fortunate as the weather was wonderful and we spent all of our time at the house outside on the terrace! The living room and kitchen were smaller than appeared in the photos but this is not an issue when the weather is nice and the terrace is so perfect for all times of the day.

Luca, the caretaker, was very helpful!

Thanks for providing such a wonderful accommodations.

Summer In Italy team was very responsive and helpful. We knew exactly what to expect and were not concerned about anything. When we asked about parking, they immediately gave us information. Thank you so much - you made it very easy for us.

Travel tips

  • We drove to Villa Fucsia from Rome and the last hour through the mountains and cliffs in the night was something I would not recommend. We needed the car for our subsequent adventures in Italy but once we got to Villa Fucsia, we parked the car and did not use it until we left.

May 2014 - Villa Fucsia was everything we dreamed it would be! It is just lovely.

The terrace is definitely the place to start... Amazing view! It is so peaceful and has everything you need to enjoy your day without ever leaving the villa! Coffee in the morning, lazy afternoon nap in the sun loungers, wine and cheese in the wicker seating area, then dinner with that amazing view. The villa even had table linens for our use. Inside is bright and happy. Every room has a view of the sea. We kept the French doors open and enjoyed hearing the birds sing. It is spotlessly clean. We had wonderful times cooking in the small but well equipped kitchen.

The villa is in a wonderful location... 10 minute walk to the center of the village, and 10 minutes to the Marina di Praia Beach where you can have lovely meals overlooking the beach and you can take a boat or water taxi from there.

The owners are lovely, and you can tell how much pride they take in caring for the villa. They live upstairs and are very accommodating. Luca, the property manager, was always available. His mother, Angela owns a grocery market, and we just called Luca to deliver whatever we needed if we didn't want to go to the market ourselves. He also arranged for a housekeeper to come when we wanted for a very reasonable fee. We were there for three weeks, so that was nice.

Villa Fucsia is a small slice of paradise for us. We would highly recommend it to anyone going to the Amalfi Coast, as it is located in the center of everything, yet in the less touristy, beautiful village of Praiano.

Summer In Italy was so easy to work with. You were always available to answer any questions we had, and the process from booking to arriving at our villa was flawless! We will definitely use Summer In Italy again!!!

Travel tips

  • We shopped at Angela's market, where there is wonderful fresh local produce, pasta and wine. Luca, her son, or Salvatore her husband, will deliver what you choose!
  • Marina di Praia was our favorite hangout. We spent many afternoons at a wonderful little restaurant called "Bar Mare Petit". The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Salvatore, the owner, is always there to greet you with a smile. There we watched the fisherman and charter boats full of happy people!
  • Vivaro Wine Bar is not to be missed! We had two wonderful dining experiences there and the wines that were chosen for us by Gennaro, the owner, were excellent.
  • We walked everywhere and with a view of the sea or beautiful flowers at every turn, it was always pleasant!
  • You don't need a car at all if you don't mind magical walks... Just stay out of the road because those busses do take their space!
  • Take a water taxi to Positano for lunch and shopping and do take the boat trip to Capri!
  • We used La Boa Charter and Rafi and Gabry, who run the business, are wonderful!!!

October 2013 - We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Fucsia. The villa was exactly as advertised.

During our planning stage, we had read many positive reviews about Villa Fuscia, and we found everything we read to be true. We can not really add anything original to these reviews. That being said, there were two aspects concerning the Villa about which we would like to have been better prepared. First, we are recommending the Villa to our friends, but we are advising them to either travel very lightly as in one small carry on or to arrange beforehand with Luca the Manager to have hired help to get heavy bags up and down the 250 meter incline and 33 stairs. This is a daunting task for 65 year old plus seniors. Secondly, bring books and other forms of entertainment for the evenings because the satellite tv had only one channel in English and that was British news.

Luca the manager was a big help getting our 50 pound bags up the hill. We did meet the Villa's owner, and she was very gracious.

Travel tips

  • Be prepared for a lot of walking.
  • Guests may have to handle heavy luggage up and down steep inclines and stairs.

October 2013 - We enjoyed staying at the villa very much. It is extremely well appointed and spotlessly clean. The views across the Bay of Naples are stunning.

Travelling by public transport, as we did, presents quite a few problems. The buses and trains are packed with passengers and standing is the norm.

Travel tips

  • Guests need to be aware that the villa is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Praiano and a 10 minute walk from bus stop. There are 110 steps to the nearest grocery store. The villa is situated on a steep hillside therefore which ever way you go there is a steep climb.

Fantastic

October 2013 - We just returned after spending a week at Villa Fucsia. The villa is beautiful and very well appointed. The patio and view are outstanding. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

The caretaker couldn't have been nicer. He met us at the villa and showed us how everything worked. He then went to the market for us to get us some food as we were really tired from traveling and did not have a car. He also arranged a day trip to Capri for us that was excellent.

There are a couple of small markets just us the road so that was very convenient. Overall we had a wonderful stay. There are approximately 33 steps down to reach the villa - so 33 steps up each time you leave - as well as a good amount of walking up a steep incline to reach the street. The villa is also quite a ways from the town center so we had to walk quite a distance to get to the restaurants. There are a lot of hills and no sidewalks so it takes a bit of getting used to - but was so worth it!

The restaurants have wonderful food. Despite what the guidebooks say the bus service is not reliable (buses tend to be really crowded and often after you wait they don't even stop as they are full) so we walked most of the time. The taxi service is not great in Praiano either so we walked most of the time. We did discover a taxi service our last night there - Gennarino taxi - he was great. We also used Benvenuto Driver for tour of other cities and used Lucio Macri for transportation from Rome to Praiano and back to Rome.

Overall the process of using Summer in Italy was really great. They responded to my questions promptly prior to our trip so that we felt well prepared going and were always very easy to work with. I highly recommend Summer in Italy and Luca for renting a great property for your trip.

Travel tips

  • Plan to take a car service to and from the airport (Rome or Naples). Traveling by bus with luggage would be a nightmare.
  • Bring good walking shoes and if you plan to visit other cities (Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento) it is worth the money to hire a car service with an English speaking driver to take you.
  • Plan for extra costs associated with transportation!
  • Eat at Ristorante Smeraldo - wonderful.

September 2013 - We loved this villa: the views from every window and the wonderful were of the deep blue sea. The villa was exactly as in the photos. It was spotlessly clean and sparkling and it was really well equipped with everything you needed.

The bedrooms were big, with comfy firm beds, lovely linen, lots of storage, bedside lights, and the views. The bathroom was spotless and everything smelt clean. On our 2nd day we had a problem with the shower but it was fixed within a few hours.

Praiano is a quiet town. It has no shopping except for delis etc and the villa is 15 - 20 mins walk (up and down steps and hills) to the centre of town where most of the restaurants are. Although there is a shorter route, we found this to be hair raising as it was on the main coast road which was narrow and packed with everything from scooters to trucks and buses. The restaurants were all pretty good and had lovely terraces and views. Tutto per Tutti was a 5 min walk and had wonderful provisions for meals in the villa. As with anywhere on this coast you need to be ready to walk a lot, up and down steep hills and flights of steps, but at every turn there is the view to make it all worthwhile. The local bus is sporadic at best (we managed to catch it once despite our best efforts) but the SITA bus although crowded is more reliable. The beach is quite gloomy and dirty, although the setting and the cliff paths around it are spectacular.

Luca, the property manager, was very helpful and responsive.

Summer In Italy handled everything in an extremely professional manner. You were responsive and accessible. The info pre-arrival was informative and excellent and everything went very smoothly.

Travel tips

  • Don't expect a great beach holiday. Be prepared to walk a fair way into town for coffee/pastry as there is nowhere local. There are many restaurants in the area with some very good ones near the villa, especially M'ama in Hotel Margherita where the food, setting, and owner Suela are wonderful. Restaurant Il Pirata is also great, once you make the trek down the cliff. Dalila, one of the waitresses, was wonderful although she may have returned to Rome for her studies. Bar del Sole in town was a great spot for coffee and crema croissants.
  • Positano is lovely with great shopping and the beach looks much better than Praia.
  • Amalfi is very touristy although the lane ways away from the hustle and bustle are lovely.

September 2013 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Fucsia. It is well located, with easy access to the beach and grocery shops in Praiano. Also, the bus stops for buses to Positano and Amalfi are closeby.

The kitchen facilities were good and the barbecue was an added bonus. The beds were a little hard but that is normal for Europe and there were pieces of foam in the cupboard which were used effectively to make the beds more comfortable. Laundry facilities worked well.

We were able to pick and eat the tomatoes, lemons and herbs from the garden and the man next door gave us figs from his garden.

It was great to relax for a week in a comfortable villa and we would recommend it to other travellers.

Summer in Italy were very good. The booking process was easy, payment system was easy and meeting the caretaker worked well. We have no complaints, only praise.

Travel tips

  • Praiano is a great place to stay because there is easy access and exciting bus rides to Amalfi, Positano and Ravello but it is quieter.
  • There is a surprising number of good restaurants in Praiano and the Africana night club is not to be missed. It was a real surprise!
  • Mosquitoes can be a nuisance all along the coast but we bought insect repellant at the shop and it was effective.
  • The beach in Praiano is as good as any along the coast.
  • Be prepared to walk up and down steps.

Fantastic

July 2013 - Villa Fucsia is a lovely villa in the best place in my opinion on the Amalfi Coast as it is central to everywhere you would want to visit and quiet.

It has the best terrace for eating and sitting out on and the use of the vegetables in the garden in exchange for watering the garden is a lovely bonus.

Having your shopping delivered is also such a great idea and the service is excellent and prompt.

The house is beautifully simple, airy and well equipped for all you need for a relaxing holiday.

I felt all the info I got up front what accurate and helpful and the manager and owner were great.

Travel tips

  • The use of the garden vegetables at the villa was a lovely bonus on our holiday and encouraged us to eat in more and therefore have a very relaxing authentic holiday.
  • If I was to visit again, I would try and get to the Amalfi coast by taxi or bus and then rather than spend money on a car and parking the car every evening in a garage 10 mins walk from the property due to stairs at a price of 10 euros a night. I would hire a small motor boat or use the money on a water taxi to get around as everywhere is very accessible by sea and a great way to see the beautiful coast.

July 2013 - Breathtaking, Spectacular, Magnificent are only a few of the many adjectives we would like to use when describing our stay at the Villa Fucsia.

First, I would like to say how impressed I was with Luca, our property manager. Whatever we needed, he was right there for us. It was so nice to meet his mom and dad at Angela's Market.

The terrace view was absolutely beautiful. We made fresh lemonade daily from the delicious lemons grown in the garden off the terrace. The colors of all the rooms were very soothing to the eye. I loved it when we went on our boat excursion to Capri and we could see our villa from the boat, because it was the only pink villa on the coast.

Thanks Luca for all your hospitality. We miss you already and hope to be back soon.:)

Travel tips

  • I would not rent a car when travelling on the Amalfi Coast. There are many ways to get to the other towns: buses, taxis and believe it or not, just walking is great.
  • I loved our little town of Praiano. Positano, was beautiful as well. Lots and lots of shops from eating to clothes to ceramic shops.

June 2013 - Four of us spent 7 wonderful days in this immaculate villa. It was the perfect setting for an authentic Amalfi summer, complete with its own private vegetable garden! The views were breathtaking from every single room, particularly the large courtyard.

The owners have equipped Villa Fucsia with every creature comfort imaginable. Our host Luca attended to all our needs and was a font of local information.

Wholeheartedly recommended - you will not want to leave! We will be back.

May 2013 - The pictures of this property do not do it justice. The bedrooms where huge, and so much outdoor space you never want to be inside. Fresh herbs in the garden and Lemons on the trees, made this place an amazing getaway.

Travel tips

  • Take advantage of the small little village and get out of the tourist traps of Positano and Amalfi.

Very good

May 2013 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Fucsia.

Praiano is a wonderful location away from the commercial/touristy other villages along the coast. The people are friendly and welcoming. Our property manager Luca was very helpful and the owner was very friendly. Our elderly neighbour Luca was extremely generous with the fresh vegetables he gave us from his garden that is on front of the terrace. We left a bottle of wine as thanks. We hope he got it!

The only down side was the size of the kitchen and the range of equipment.

Overall the experience was excellent and we would recommend it to other people.

Travel tips

  • Having Tutto per Tutti grocery just up the hill was great for buying food and wine.
  • Public transport is reasonably frequent but on occasions the bus can be full so if you have limited time think about a car.
  • If you do drive be aware that the driver will have to concentrate on the road and be very patient.
  • Local restaurants are very good with Il Pirata being our favourite.

April 2013 - Staying at Villa Fucsia captured the spirit of the coast, with its own lemons hanging beside the terrace, the wisteria on the pergola and the uninterrupted sea views from the spacious terrace. Plus the heady scent of citrus in bloom.

The house is sparkling clean and newly decorated, and with comfortable, functional furnishings. There is an easy walk to the road, and parking was arranged handily. A restful and charming spot from which to explore the area.

Travel tips

  • Just be aware that - as with most housing in the area - you do not step straight from your car to the gate... there are narrow pedestrian roads and stairways everywhere. We managed even though my mother is quite frail.
  • Sitting out and barbecuing on the terrace is simply delightful.

April 2013 - Villa Fucsia is new, clean, beautiful, very well serviced, and yes, we enjoyed it very much.

Be aware:

The walk from the street is 220 m on a light slope and 34 stairs.

Free parking is at best another 160 m down the road, sometimes 350 m, and sometimes there's none. (Payed parking is 2E/h).

There is just one bathroom with toilet, and that's a bit of a hassle.

Very useful and site, and very friendly and helpful staff (if you have to call for anything).

Travel tips

  • If you don't mind the parking issue, and get along with a single bathroom/toilet - great choice! The owners/service guy were wonderful too.

Fantastic

October 2012 - My husband and I stayed at Villa Fucsia for a week of our honeymoon Sept. 29th through October 6th.

This was by far our favorite part of our honeymoon (which also included stays in Florence and Rome).

Praiano is the perfect place to relax along the Amalfi Coast, and really gives you the opportunity to get away from the tourist traps in Positano, Sorrento, or Amalfi.Praiano has its own treasures from the restaurants, churches, but most importantly the spectacular view of the sea and Spiaggia di Praia. We LOVED being able to walk the short distance to this gem of a beach every day. It truly is the most beautiful spot -- never felt overcrowded, and there were times it was just my husband and I in the water.

As for Villa Fucsia itself, we were amazed that we were able to stay in such a lovely place for the price. Luca [the caretaker] was just wonderful in showing us the property -- although he says his English isn't very good, it was wonderful, and we understood everything completely. He also gave plenty of suggestions for what to do in the area.[the caretaker]We also loved visiting his Mama's grocery store in town -- she was wonderful helping us find the basics for cooking during our stay.

We had more than enough room just for the two of us. We spent most of our time on the terrace, which was just lovely with a fantastic view, several seating areas, and an outdoor shower. The little gardens we thoroughly enjoyed, and even used some of the fresh basil in our cooking.

On nights we didn't cook, the walk is a little longer to get to where other restaurants are (besides the ones close to the beach). But, we enjoyed the walk, and never grew tired.

Overall, this was the experience of a lifetime. We'll never forget our lovely stay at Villa Fucsia. Thank you Luca!

Travel tips

  • Speaking of cooking, Villa Fucsia is close to two grocery stores, so we had no problem picking up ingredients for our meals we prepared every day.
  • As anywhere along the coast, you either "climb, or slide" to get to your destination, so make sure you can handle the many many stairs you'll be going up and down.

Unfortunately, Villa Fucsia can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
