Very good

September 2023 - We were a family of 9 and the home accommodated us perfectly. The view will overcome any and all anxieties you may have. The kitchen is well equipped for those who like to cook, as we did, and the large table accommodates the entire family.

You can get all the answers you need about the house and appliances from the cleaning lady who comes in every morning.

My dealings with Alfano at Summer In Italy were incredible. He bends over backwards to try to help you in any way he can.

Travel tips

  • The location is really easy for access to Sorrento and also going the other way to Positano and Amalfi.
  • We were able to fit four small cars in the car park, so if you come with small cars you should have no problem.

Fantastic

June 2023 - We were 14 people at Villa Dulcibella for our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party. It was perfect. We loved every moment of our stay there.

We had a wonderful time at the villa and totally enjoyed drinking wine and chatting with the owner, Riccardo. We want to come back!

I got wonderful help from the Summer In Italy staff, from finding the right villa for us to catering a meal at the property. I really appreciated all your help and I would definitely use your company again! Thank you!

Travel tips

  • We expected the evenings to be loud because of the restaurant next door but did not expect fireworks going off over the villa almost every night around midnight.
  • There is a trail down the hill for walking into the town but walking back is a challenge, take the bus (don't count on the name on the bus, ask!).

July 2022 - A beautiful villa with everything you need. The view is outstanding and the maid service excellent.

My one criticism is that it was not easy to walk anywhere as the roads are dangerous and no-one could tell us about any off road walks. Not suitable for anyone who cannot cope with stairs as there are uneven steps to the villa.

Next door to a restaurant - on the Friday there was a wedding with music until late -- not a problem for us but some people may not have appreciated it.

You are a fantastic support: prompt replies to e-mails and nothing was a problem. The best company I have ever used and when I return to Italy you will be the first I will look at. Thank you

June 2022 - We did enjoy it. The property was very nice and conveniently located, for the most part. The terrace and outdoor views were lovely.

It was very nice to work with you. I particularly appreciated all the helpful information you sent prior to our arrival.

Travel tips

  • Be aware that entering and exiting the parking area is a challenge. The access is narrow and it's on a very busy road.
  • Walking to the bus stop is not easy.
  • We took two great day trips: one with Guemar Travel along the Amalfi Coast in minivans, the second to Capri with Barbara di Positano Boat Tours. I recommend them both.

April 2022 - We loved our stay. The only problem was a dodgy water supply to the top building. Often, the hot water either ran cold or disappeared altogether. Otherwise everything was great. Your descriptions were accurate and helpful.

Your service was first rate and with a nice personal touch. We found you by surfing the web.

Travel tips

  • We parked the car in Sorrento and went to Pompeii and Herculaneum by train. Very easy.

September 2019 - Villa Dulcibella is a nice place to stay for bigger family/company and who do not require daily trips to the sea, as it is really far from the beaches.

The best thing about villa is a breathtaking view of Sorrento bay and Vesuvius. Big terrace is great - we spent there all our time together.

Davide and Teresa [the caretakers] were always at our call, and very helpful.

On a slightly negative side - some equipment in the kitchen did not work properly (e.g. dishwasher). But overall we enjoyed staying at Villa very much.

Travel tips

  • Sant'Agata is ok for daily shopping (fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, mozzarella etc.) For bigger shopping you need to go to Sorrento.
  • Definitely car is required.
  • We loved Don Pedro's restaurant just few hundred meters away - family atmosphere is great there. Restaurant Le Palme - which is just next door - good for the view and food, even delivery to the villa. But sometimes it can be to noisy as it is often used for big parties and weddings.
  • For beaches go to Marina dell Cantone - it is 20 minutes drive, but it's best.
  • You must try Restaurant Don Alfonso in Sant'Agata.
  • Take a trip to Capri by private boat from Marina dell Cantone, is unforgettable.

July 2019 - Loved our stay there. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

Travel tips

  • Look for the numbered walking paths up to Sant'Agata and down to Sorrento. Only a mile either way, scenic, and a nice alternative to driving or taking the bus.

July 2019 - We really enjoyed ourselves at Villa Dulcibella.

The villa is great but you need a car. There is no way to walk to the town nearby and the buses are infrequent. It is a remote location. I wished it had been closer to Sorrento. Taxis were expensive and we were way overcharged for the trip more than once. Ask in advance -- it should be no more that 20 euro which is still too much.

I will definitely use this site again. It was user friendly in every way. I have already recommended it to friends.

May 2019 - We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Villa Dulcibella! Every single morning and evening we'd sit out on the terrace in awe of our views. The entire experience was incredible from beginning to end.

Everything was clean and it had all the amenities we could have needed. The manager, Davide, was extremely responsive. Whether it was an issue with the wireless or our inability to figure out the electricity for the refrigerator, he was always there within minutes of our call.

With eight adults and four kids ages 2 through 5, we were concerned about having enough personal space. This wasn't an issue! If anything, we sometimes laughed that there was TOO MUCH space, because we kept losing the kids! They had fun running around in the soccer field and all over the terraces... and of course, swimming in the pool.

The location was perfect.

Your customer service was absolutely amazing. We were confident working with you the entire time. While originally drawn to the properties you had available, the reason I decided to book was the responsiveness and attention to detail of your entire customer service team.

Travel tips

  • As previous guests have commented, we found a few contacts made all the difference in the world for the week. On our second night, Don Pedro actually stopped in to check on us, and after talking a bit, he brought over a bunch of food and wine right to the villa! We went to his restaurant (very short walk) a few nights later.
  • We took advantage of having Terese make pizzas for us on our last night, and that was fantastic!
  • Being a very large group, we found it very helpful to have Alfredo's car service for transportation. He helped us arrange a few trips along the coast and to Vesuvius.
  • Getting to Sorrento, Amalfi and the port for Capri were all easy from the villa.

July 2018 - Villa Dulcibella was wonderful in every way.

It is centrally located to allow for an easy drive into Sorrento as well as an easy drive to Positano. You have two fabulous beaches just a few minutes drive away. Sant'Agata has markets, a marvelous wine shop, and there are restaurants within walking distance of the villa.

The buses run frequently and the stops are nearby. But you won't want to pull yourself away from the view down to Sorrento and across the bay.

Travel tips

  • Take advantage of the Circumvesuviana to travel to Pompeii or Ercolano. It's inexpensive and very convenient.
  • Marina Del Cantone is lovely, but don't pass up swimming right in the Sorrento Marina. We wish we'd done that more often.
  • Be sure to go the extra distance to Ravello. It's unbelievably beautiful and has the best ceramics at the best prices.
  • Dinner at Don Alfonso is a singular experience. Their hospitality and passion for their cuisine are unforgettable.

June 2018 - There were 5 couples and we had an excellent time.

The views were fabulous and the villa beautiful. It was better than I had even thought it would be.

Davide was an excellent manager who assisted us in every way with very good suggestions for touring and getting around. Teresa was like our Mama who cleaned and washed for us and we had her cook lots of meals, including the wood fired pizzas which was such a highlight of our stay. Her cooking was amazing and we couldn't have done without her.

Although we had a car we found it easier to use the buses and the wonderful services of Alfredo's' Taxi service who was at Sant'Agata.

We would all love to return to Villa Dulcibella. Already some of our group are planning to come back with their children and grandchildren.

A big thank you to Teresa who we all loved and couldn't have done without.

Job well done, Summer In Italy. You assisted us all the way and always were happy to answer any questions we had prior to arrival.

Travel tips

  • A small car would be good just to run around and obtain groceries, however the roads are narrow and the towns have no parking for a larger van, such as we had.
  • Use Alfredo's taxis to get around Very reasonable and clean and they are very nice.
  • Don Pedro's Restaurant was fabulous and such a welcoming family.

October 2017 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Dulcibella! The view is spectacular and the property is wonderful.

It was particularly well-suited to our party of eleven family members -- the many rooms, terraces and gardens allowed us to have some 'private time' when needed. It took us days to get to know the whole property and we had a great deal of fun 'discovering' new areas or amenities.

Although we took a number of day trips and tried to get in a bit of sightseeing, we also looked forward to just sitting at the villa and enjoying it and the incredible view it offered.

Working with Summer In Italy really was a pleasure. We originally opted to book with you because you offered a number of properties that could accommodate our large party at very competitive prices. As we moved forward with our planning, your friendliness and thoroughness made it clear that we had made a great choice. We appreciate your service!

Travel tips

  • Because we had not traveled to this part of Italy previously, it took us a little while to get a feel for traffic, the roads in general, the bus system. I don't know if most guests come with a vehicle of their own but I can say that we would have a great deal of difficulty if we had not. Accessing things strictly on foot was not an option for some of the older or less mobile members of our party (very steep roads and paths). We tried to use the bus system as much as possible but, as outsiders, were frequently puzzled by the routes and schedules.
  • We had a very, very memorable meal at Don Pedro's -- a restaurant just down the hill from the villa on Via Nastro Verde. Highly recommended!
  • We found markets for groceries in Sant'Agata and down towards Sorrento on a footpath -- and there are plenty of large markets in Sorrento proper.
  • We really enjoyed our day trip to Positano. We took a bus there and then took the ferry back to Sorrento. The approach to Positano by bus is an event in itself! Sit on the right side of the bus for the most breathtaking views.
  • We also traveled to Capri (ferry from Sorrento) and Pompeii (train from Sorrento) with ease.

September 2017 - We thought the Villa Dulcibella was above our expectations and we could not have asked for a better view of the Gulf of Naples.

The Villa itself was extremely large and well appointed. It served a group of nine persons very well with lots of extra space.

We were treated very well by both the Le Palme Restaurant (Francesco) and Don Pedro's Restaurant. Both restaurants were an easy walk from the villa and the food was excellent and prices reasonable!

The private boat to Capri arranged by Davide [the caretaker] was a highlight of the week and well worth it!

We also enjoyed a traditional Italian dinner prepared for us by the lovely Teresa.

Both Davide and Teresa were terrific ambassadors for the Villa Dulcibella.

Everything was perfect and the website was accurate to a fault in that it was better than we expected.

Travel tips

  • There is a walk path "up" the road just past the bus stop that takes you down into the town of Sorrento. It takes about 1/2 hour but is well worth the effort for those that love to walk and/or hike.
  • The trip to Positano is also a must as it is absolutely fabulous!!!
  • In Sant'Agata there is a local wine that was very good and very reasonable.
  • We had one bad experience and that was in the dining room of the Hotel Vue D'or which is up the road from the Villa. They did not treat us or some of the other guests very hospitably.
  • If you don't rent a car (we did not), be prepared to wait for the buses or do a lot of walking.

August 2017 - We loved everything at Villa Dulcibella; the space, comfort, patios, pool, and the fantastic view over the bay.

Travel tips

  • Buses good for local shops at Sant'Agata, Sorrento and trips to Positano etc.
  • Circumvesuviana train good for Pompeii and Vesuvius.
  • Get buses nearby just up the hill by hotel
  • need to get bus tickets in advance from hotel or tabacchi.
  • Booked Teresa for excellent feast.

July 2017 - Outstanding in every way.

The villa is large, beautifully maintained and the views looking out over Sorrento and the bay of Naples are incredible.

One of our best family vacations ever.

Keep up the outstanding customer service. I think you are head and shoulders above all the other web travel services I contacted and made the difference in my purchase decision. Glad I found you! Ciao!

Travel tips

  • Be sure to hire a cook and eat in at the villa, and especially use the brick pizza oven. Eating dinner on the upper terrace made for a magical evening.

June 2017 - The photos don't do this place justice! It was much better than we expected it to be. The view from the outdoor terrace and the living room was magnificent, particularly at dusk with the lights of Sorrento and Naples twinkling below and beyond.

The house was very well equipped, particularly the kitchen which had everything from a pasta maker to a wine fridge. The bathroom and kitchen fittings are all modern (a nice surprise in Italy to have things that work properly!)

The daily maid service is a huge bonus which meant everyone could relax properly.

The gardens of Villa Dulcibella are absolutely stunning, full of edible fruit which the children in particular enjoyed.

There are many places on the property to either relax or enjoy some sort of activity, whether it be swimming in the pool whilst enjoying the spectacular view, kicking a ball around on the small soccer field, sitting around the large outdoor table enjoying a good Italian feast, or soaking up the sun on the top terrace. The outdoor pizza oven was a huge hit.

The location is great too (car recommended). Only a short drive into Sant'Agata, a lovely little town from which all supplies can be purchased. A great restaurant only a 2 minute walk from the house.

We had 3 families stay at Villa Dulcibella. Plenty of room for everyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Thanks for all your help in relation to this booking and our subsequent booking at Villa Geraldina. Your service was very professional and we'd recommend you to anyone.

June 2017 - We had a wonderful time. Very beautiful. The only negative was dogs barking at times.

Mr. Davide was great to work with.

We would recommend it to anyone and hope to come back in three years.

We booked through Summer in Italy without any proper knowledge. We are very happy we did. Everything was first class.

Travel tips

  • Take the boat trip around Capri.
  • Have Teresa [the caretaker] cook a meal.

June 2017 - Our family really enjoyed our stay at Villa Dulcibella.

We loved the staff that took care of us as far as cleaning and the family loved Concetta and Teresa. They were more than happy to do anything we asked. Mr Davide [the owner] was there very quickly if we needed him. Some of the family was lost getting there and he helped bring them to the right place. One day it was a little chilly and we needed to know how the heating worked and he responded very quickly to our call. They have lots of other things to offer as well. Cooking, shopping or their own boat for the ocean.

We had an excellent stay. Will definitely keep at the top of our list.

Summer in Italy you guys are the best. I have used you two years and the information you supply on your website is the best. Never have we had any problems. I have recommended you to all travelers I meet while I am visiting. I took Mamma Agata cooking class as you recommended on your web site. I loved it Chiara is an angel so fun and full of life. Anything you need to know is on your website. Love you guys, thanks so much for everything.
