Excellent stay

July 2020 - We have had an excellent stay in Calvanico. The house is lovely and the setting is pleasant, surrounded by olive and hazelnut trees.

We were made very welcome by the owner, Roberto.

September 2019 - We had a very nice week at Villa dei Faggi. The house is very quiet and idyllic, but close to the main routes to visit the area. The access road was a bit steep but that did not bother us.

The lower part of the apartment with kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom and the upper one with the huge bedroom and bath are connected only through the terraces - make sure you always carry keys with you.

A very friendly elderly lady with her son, lives in the other part of the house. There are also dogs, cats, chickens, hazelnut trees, rosemary shrubs - Italian country life!

The owners are very friendly and helpful, everything was nice and easy.

Travel tips

  • Restaurant 'La Vetta' in Calvanico village is the only nearby restaurant but its really good food and cheap too.
  • Hire a small car because the local roads are narrow and windy - especially the track to Villa dei Faggi!
  • Good drive through Parco Regionale dei Monti Picentino - Start at Serino, south on SP25c through hills to Giffoni Valle Piana, then Capitignano, San Cipriano Picentino, Castiglione del Genovesi then north back to Calvanico.
  • Great day out doing Herculaneum then great views from top of Mount Vesuvius.
  • Another day drove to Ravello perched high up on Amalfi Coast. Get an ice cream or pizza and find your way up to Giardini Principessa di Piemonte, then sit and enjoy the lovely view.

Feel like a real Italian farmer!

September 2016 - Villa dei Faggi is a great place to stay. Feel like a real Italian farmer! The house is clean and there is a spectacular view over Calvanico and even Fisciano. It is not perfect but the price is right!

We enjoyed our trip, perfect location to visit Campania. Live the real experience and feel what the real Italian life is all about, keep it simple!

Roberto and his dad [the owners] were nice and tried to help as much as possible.

Travel tips

  • Hike a few minutes and have a drink at the local cafe in Calvanico, always fun to meet the locals.
  • Stop by the Double M Restaurant in Fisciano, this was our morning stop before going anywhere. Free Internet and lovely young owners.
  • Rosa and her family, the neighbors, were very friendly and we had a lot of fun with them.
  • You are a few minutes away from Salerno and from there you can go anywhere along the Amalfi Coast.
  • Plan a stay in Amalfi and go to Ravello, beautiful, up on the hill. You don't want to miss that.
  • From Salerno you will also be able to get to Napoli and Sorrento by train.
  • There are a few factory outlet locations 30 minutes away from the house, if you really want to go shopping.
  • If you like the beach, Paestum is a really nice place to go (next time I will stay there a few days). The ruins are also a nice site to visit while there.
  • We spent two weeks in the area and we could have stayed another week to keep on visiting the Campania Region.

Great experience!

August 2016 - Great experience, so close to an Italian family! It was quiet and very clean. Overall it was fantastic and I hope to return as soon as possible.

Roberto's parents [the owners] are very kind and I'll never forget Nonna and her fantastic family.
