Very good

November 2014 - We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Arturo D.

We stayed in the very spacious 3 bedrooms apartment on the top floor and the roof terrace was fantastic. Well worth climbing up the spiral staircase. Apartment could do with some updating in the bathrooms and kitchen area but bedrooms were very nice. Pool area was really really lovely and in very good condition.

It was in a really peaceful position but you could walk down to the main square in just over 5 minutes. Only drawback was finding it in the car for the first time up some very narrow streets. Once we found it, it was fine. The street it is on appears to be a no entry road, but it isn't.

We would definitely stay again. A really good base to see the area from.

Summer In Italy have provided an excellent service and would definitely use you again.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you have full directions before you go. Very difficult to find for the first time.
  • A great supermarket just 2 minutes walk away for all your provisions.

Fantastic

April 2014 - Villa Arturo D is a great home away from home in beautiful Sorrento!

The apartment is only a 5 minute walk from anything you would want to do in Sorrento yet it is set in a lovely, private property among lemon trees with a beautiful pool and terrace. The apartment had its own terrace with views of the hillside and the sea in the distance. The bedrooms were comfortable and two bathrooms with a washer were really handy for our family of five. Ample hot water, everything in good working order.

Everything was great.

Welcoming and helpful hosts.

Summer In Italy is great! So responsive, so helpful, so many properties. I highly recommend you! I heard about you on the net and decided to book with you based on your ratings there and my initial contacts with you.

Travel tips

  • The only access to the property is via an outdoor spiral staircase - just something to keep in mind.
  • There are a couple of dogs that live on the property if that is a concern.

Fantastic

June 2013 - We had a lovely time whilst in Sorrento for a family wedding at the cloisters. Arturo D was an excellent base for that and for sightseeing around the area and pottering around Sorrento itself.

The terrace was a great place to sit and relax especially at breakfast time and in the evening.

Summer in Italy dealt with everything very efficiently and ensured there was no stress leading up to the holiday.

Travel tips

  • Although we hired a car, the very heavy traffic along the road from Naples and on the road to Amalfi meant that driving was not an enjoyable option. With the Circumvesuviana giving access to Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum and Naples and the boat trips to Capri and Amalfi, it would have been much less stressful to use public transport all the time.
  • Selfcatering was really easy as there is an excellent supermarket just down the road with much better prices than the shops in town.

May 2013 - Villa Arturo D is a fabulous apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and it really enhanced our stay in Sorrento.

The setting is wonderful and peaceful, but you are also very close to the center of the town with all the shops, cafes and restaurants.

The pool is really lovely and beautifully clean. The views from the terrace and the pool area are great too.

I have been very pleased with my booking with Summer in Italy. Communication has been very good. Payment very easy. Great directions to apartment. Would use summer in Italy again!

Travel tips

  • Lots to do. Don't miss Pompeii and Herculaneum. Very easy to access by train, only 2.2 Euros each way.
  • Don't miss the BBQ night if offered - delicious!!
  • There is a great bakery/ice cream shop on the walk into the town just on the right before the bridge, they sold the best ice cream we had in Italy.

June 2012 - Stay at Villa Arturo D is a very pleasant. Gino [the caretaker] and everyone else made us very welcome and were extremely helpful: thanks to all concerned for a lovely stay.

Very pleased with summer in Italy. This was our first time booking with you. We have been to Sorrento many times but usually book with another company. We saw your website online, after our experience will certainly book with you in future. Thanks!

Travel tips

  • Lovely, quiet location supermarket and some small shops a 5 minute walk away.
  • 10 minute walk into Sorrento centre.

September 2011 - Second time there. Bathroom needed a toilet seat and got one after 5 days. But bars and restaurants are not good for toilet seats in Italy. Will be going back in a few years time.

Thank you for everything Luca. Ciao.

June 2011 - A very pleasant place to stay with close proximity to town.

Gino [the caretaker] was a joy with a great sense of humour and an excellent cook.

I bit hard getting up and down the stairs but we did know in advance.

Overall a good experience. The grounds and pool area were excellent.

May 2011 - We enjoyed our week thoroughly... even the stairs up did not cause any difficulty. The unit was perfect for 3 girls, each having our own bedroom a great bonus, as well as 1 1/2 baths. The living room was very comfortable but does not have windows to view the garden which was the only thing we could fault. We spent little time in it tho. Kitchen was great!!

The terrace was huge and just wonderful. The view from it lovely... that is were we spent all our time.

The owners very helpful. This is a peaceful oasis very close to everything without the chatter of being in traffic. Would recommend it to everyone.

Travel tips

  • If you take the pathway to the left on leaving the residence, then turn right you will find a fantastic butcher shop, as well as other groceries about 2 blocks away.

May 2010 - We did enjoy our stay in the villa where the location is excellent, but I must stress that the spiral stair can be difficult for older people.

As far as Summer in Italy are concerned in my opinion your service to me on this occasion was superb many thanks and I would not hesitate to use you again.

Travel tips

  • Beware of spiral stairs but location OK as far as amenities are concerned.

May 2009 - This is not a great villa with excellent views of the sea. But it is an excellent place to stay in Sorrento and from which to plan trips around the peninsula, Naples, Capri etc.. We appreciated the short distance into town, to the station etc.

We also liked the terrace that was only for us and with a nice evening sun.

In short, a good place to stay with very nice hosts.

All went well and we spent two very nice weeks in Sorrento. Thanks.

Travel tips

  • Once at the villa, leave your car at the house and do everything by foot/bus/boat etc..

July 2008 - Absolutely loved villa Arturo D. It was set in such a lovely location with the most stunning views and the villa/apartment itself was spacious and very clean with lovely furniture and plenty of facilities.

The apartment might not be suitable for people with mobility problems due to the spiral staircase you have to use to get to the apartment.

The owners were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble including taking me to the hospital when I accidently gashed my leg.

The apartment is approx a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main square in Sorrento and is better located than most of the hotels in the area.

We wouldn't hesitate to return again.

Thank you for allowing us to have a lovely Italian holiday

June 2008 - The villa was very comfortable and clean. The view was good with the elevated views of the mountains.

The only down fall, which was clearly identified on the web site, was the winding metal stair case giving access. Stay off the limoncello when attempting the walk up the stairs!

Overall a very good stay.

Travel tips

  • The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to assist. I would urge any visitor to ask them where to eat, etc.

July 2007 - Villa Arturo is set in a very central location in Sorrento 5 minutes walk from the town centre and yet as quiet as in the country.

The apartment was very well furnished with modern furniture, clean and very comfortable to sleep in.

The air conditioning was a little noisy but effective and essential.

The pool was fantastic: clean with lots of lemon trees surrounding it and was a lifesaver for the children as the temperature was around 30 to 40.

The owners were extremely friendly, helpful and yet left you to enjoy the holiday.

We hired a car in Rome and drove to Sorrento so it was great to have secure parking as Sorrento is not easy to find a parking space in. Driving was not for the faint hearted and we were lucky to return the car unscratched!

I booked on the basis of recommendations and was not disappointed. This is one apartment we would return to in the future and highly recommend.

Travel tips

  • Pompei (a 40 min bus ride away) was fantastic though very hot and exposed. Bring a small umbrella for shade in July or August.
  • We didn't make it to Capri and regret it as lots of others recommended it.
  • Positano was absolutely beautiful though again difficult to park in without a long walk in extreme heat -- probably better to take the bus.
  • All restaurants good value and there was a great atmosphere in the town.

October 2006 - Great location - the villa that we got, Arturo D, was in the best possible spot. We had total privacy on the rooftop terrace - and it was no more than a hop skip and a jump to the centre of town.

The grounds were kept beautifully - the lemon trees, lime trees and grape vines were everywhere.

The owner and his wife were VERY gracious - we had the perfect holiday - and if we ever choose Sorrento as a holiday destination again - we will go back to the exact same villa

Summer in Italy were fantastic - we had great communication, and were very well taken care of from start to finish.

Travel tips

  • Make sure that you bring your bathing suit - the pool is perfect for lazing beside and drinking the odd glass of vino!

Unfortunately, Villa Arturo D can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
