Very good

July 2014 - We had a great time at Villa Arturo C.

Positives: the cottage itself is spacious and has air conditioning. The pool is lovely and a 10 second walk from the house.

Things to watch out for: if you are susceptible to mosquitoes then be careful - due to the lovely gardens, bites can be plentiful! The sitting out area is acceptable but not very private.

The best bit was Gino (the owner). He made our holiday. Chatty, friendly, he would join us for coffee in the morning and a chat in the evening. Full of tips and advice on what to do and where to go. The evenings where he brings all the guests together are the best nights we had and his food is amazing.

Travel tips

  • Do not hire a car, you will not need it. I hired a car and used it twice in 2 weeks. Public transport will get you everywhere you want to go (and the roads/drivers are a bit of a challenge...).
  • The center of Sorrento is at about 400 meters walk.
  • As far as we are aware, this complex is the only villa in the centre of Sorrento with access to a pool. It was a fantastic bonus on the hot days.
  • Gino, the owner, can arrange a boat trip to Capri for you - do this!
  • Capri itself is a bit of a disappointment. It feels like a large, open air shopping mall of very high end shops and all very busy and very expensive. However, the private boat trip to Capri was great. A couple of hours on the island (disappointment above) but more importantly, a trip round the island and swimming in the Med - our kids loved jumping off the boat and swimming in the sea - the best bit of our holiday.

Good

December 2013 - Very nice place, we stayed for a week.

The hosts were friendly, and the cottage is in a wonderful garden. Nicely located just a short walk from the main heart of Sorrento. Plenty of food stores nearby.

July 2012 - It was a great experience. We were a party of six in Sorrento for a wedding and owner Gino went out of way to make our stay a pleasure. He provided a great pizza night for 16 on the night before the wedding and an exceptional bbq the night before we left. He is a legend!!

It was like being a native Italian for a week.

Your service from first contact right through to the end was brilliant. Thank you

Travel tips

  • Sample Gino's food!!!

Fantastic

July 2012 - Villa Arturo C and the surroundings were gorgeous. My family and myself had a lovely time.

The surroundings of the Villa are beautiful and so quiet just what I needed would definitely recommend if you want to be close to Piazza Tasso and transport but far enough away for peace and quiet.

The owner lives on site and is very friendly and very helpful with directions transport advice and also good restaurants in the area and last but not least the pool was lovely.

Travel tips

  • The villas are only 5 mins away from a supermarket which is very cheap, only 10 mins away from Piazza Tasso and the many restaurants bars and shops.

June 2011 - One of the best holidays we have had.

The owner's family made our stay so very enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble. Gino the manager is the best!! He looked after us and kept us entertained. The owner Antonino and his wife were also very welcoming and helpful.

The location is wonderful, you would never know you were so close to the middle of Sorrento.

I would not hesitate in recommending this accommodation. We will definitely return in the future.

Your service was excellent from the moment we booked, keeping us updated and helping with any queries, many thanks and hope to use you again in the future.

September 2009 - Our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Arturo C.

The villa has 3 very good sized double bedrooms. The grounds and swimming pool are beautiful. The photos on the web site do not do the place justice :-) The big plus was finding air-conditioning in every room.

Overall an excellent place to stay in Sorrento; I would not hesitate in recommending this accommodation to any friends.

The location is perfect, being about a 10 minute walk from the main town square. This meant that it was very peaceful and quiet.

The owner and his family were great hosts and always happy to recommend restaurants and assist with other bookings.

I guess I was nervous booking via the Internet. But I have to say that the process was very smooth and the documentation you sent us was invaluable. Thanks Luca for helping us have a great holiday.

Travel tips

  • There are plenty of local shops to buy supplies. However, the location is so central that it's easy to walk to the main shopping areas, supermarket, railway station, waterfront etc.
  • To travel to Sorrento we pre-booked transport from Naples airport at 11pm and to Naples airport at 4am using Benvenuto Limos. On both occasions they turned up on time in very modern Mercedes vans. They had researched in advance where to find the accommodation, so we would recommend this company if transport is required.

July 2009 - Overall we had a great time. The location was great. Less than 10 minutes leisurely stroll and you are in the centre of Sorrento, yet sitting in the grounds you can hardly hear any city noises.

The setting is delightful, particularly up by the pool and the covered area with the long table. We enjoyed sitting this area both during the day and after dusk, particularly when the pool lights were on. The pool was lovely, the kids really enjoyed it.

The roof area above the villa was basic, but lovely. It gave added views and there was a lovely breeze most evenings.

We didn't expect 5 star luxury, but the bathroom was very well fitted out and large. The 3 bedrooms were adequately furnished and the beds surprisingly large and comfortable. The lounge/kitchen area was small for 6 of us and basic, but adequate. Someone in other feedback had commented on the basic provisions eg. cutlery and crockery and we would agree with them, however, the basics were there.

The air conditioning was excellent. It was in all the bedrooms and lounge and very quiet when it was on.

Tonino and his wife [the owners] were very helpful, if we needed anything, not just regarding the accommodation.

August 2008 - The Villa was fantastic. Location, views & distance from the piazza were good.

Also nice pool, and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Yes we enjoyed it very much and would like to return for another holiday soon.

Summer in Italy were a good company to deal with communication was good.

Travel tips

  • There are some small local shops several hundred metres from the villa & the supermarket is approx a 10 minute walk from the villa.
  • Be warned taxi's are expensive it cost me 20 euros from the port to Sorrento train station.
  • The local buses are cheap & frequent.
  • If you go to Capri the cost of the fast ferry is 30 euros return for adults there are reduced fares for children so be sure to ask.
  • The buses in Capri cost 1.40 euros per journey.
  • The blue grotto cost 10 euros for adult 5 euros for kids & don't forget the tip for the boatmen who take you into the grotto.
  • If you fly into Naples airport I'd recommend the bus from the airport to Sorrento station.
  • Finally make sure you have some form of mosquito repellent.

August 2008 - Villa Arturo C is very comfortable. The location is excellent and is only a 10 minute walk into Sorrento.

The pool is well equipped with plenty of sun loungers. The owners are very friendly, helpful and speak good English.

Villa Arturo C has three good sized double bedrooms each with air conditioning. The kitchen is a bit short of sharp knifes and glasses, but has a good sized fridge.

We also stayed in Villa Arturo D which is also very good. It is bigger, better equipped, more modern and more private than Villa Arturo C, but only has 2 bedrooms. The third bed in Villa Arturo D is in the lounge area, although this is not a problem as the lounge is large.

I would recommend both these villas.

Travel tips

  • The nearby shops have most groceries you need.
  • We were in Sorrento the first 2 weeks in August. Driving is definitely for the brave!
  • Train and boat service are both excellent in the summer months.

July 2008 - Enjoyed the time there.

The owners were friendly and the gardens nice.

Although the villa was clean it was very basic and in need of modernising in the bathroom and kitchen. I expected more for 1200 euros per week.

Excellent service from SII... I would use you again.

November 2007 - We enjoyed Villa Arturo C very much.

It was a perfect location for us. Close enough to Sorrento square, yet the 700 metre walk to the villa was ideal for many reasons. First you experienced real life rather than the "high street" bustle feel of Sorrento, secondly the peace and quiet.

A highlight was meeting the owners and their family, as well as other guests. The restaurant advice was valuable. Overall we would definitely use it again.

Ciao!

Travel tips

  • The owner gave us great restaurants. The tourist restaurants are nothing compared to the real deal.
  • If hiring a car, make sure it is a small car, and get insurance. The streets are very narrow, and it looks like every second car has a few scrapes and bangs on it!!

June 2007 - The location was fantastic the people friendly and very helpful. A little more kitchen equipment would be helpful but this would not stop me from coming again.

This is the second time we have used Summer in Italy, and I have found the whole process of choosing and booking very easy. I have recommended it to friends wishing to stay in Italy.

We have been to Sorrento twice now and will try another area next time.

So till then ciao.

Travel tips

  • Great place near enough to town to walk and 2 shops within 200 meters with all you need.

April 2007 - We loved Villa Arturo.

The owner and his wife just could not be more helpful. It was wonderful having them there - they pointed out places to see, where to shop, where to get certain foods. They made us coffee, drove us in their car since I had fallen and injured my foot.

We really felt like we lived in Italy and were not just visiting. It also felt very safe because they were there and he was always available to us.

We are very pleased with Summer in Italy. I don't recall how I found out about you 3 years ago, but your advice, suggestions and helpful hints were appreciated so much.

Travel tips

  • There were several grocery and bakery shops within walking distance which had wonderful food items. They even delivered the grocery order on a scooter to our apartment.
  • All restaurants were within a 10-15 minute walk at the center of Sorrento. We loved Antica Trattoria, La Fenice restaurant, Faunno Bar, O'Canonico Restaurant, Emilia's at Marina Grande was so authentic and Buca's in the cave was wonderful also.
  • The day trips to Ischia and Capri by boat were great.
  • We have used Aldo Esposito's taxi/car service exclusively while we were there this time and 3 years ago and found him to be knowledgeable, personable and does not overcharge. He took us to Amalfi/Positano/Ravello and to my father's hometown in Celso Cilento.
  • The bar at Bellevue Syrene Hotel with the piano player was lovely.
  • The highlight of our trip was to the Mami Camilla Cooking School in Sorrento. We made a 4 course meal from scratch and then got to eat it. It was wonderful!

Unfortunately, Villa Arturo C can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
