July 2014 - The apartment is spacious and beautifully appointed. he views are truly spectacular.

During our stay, my travelling companion broke her ankle and required hospitalisation in a Sorrento. We greatly appreciated the help and kindness of Stefano [the owner] and his family.

Travel tips

  • The views are absolutely stunning and we appreciated the fact that this apartment had an elevator.
  • Be aware, the roads are narrow and steep and great care needs to be taken when walking.

June 2014 - Residence Stefania B had everything we could have wished for.

The view was amazing, the location was perfect, and it was very comfortably furnished. There was parking on the premises for a small fee, which was ideal given parking is very difficult in Positano.

The owners were absolutely lovely, being a family that lives on the premises so nothing was too much trouble.

I recommend this apartment highly to anyone wishing to visit this lovely part of the world.

I had great service from the Summer In Italy. I had a reply to my booking inquiry very quickly, and similar speedy responses to all of my subsequent questions. I think the service you provide is excellent.

Travel tips

  • If you have a car definitely book the owners parking.
  • There is a grocery nearby that sells food and wine so no need to stock up before you get to the apartment.
  • There are nearby steps that lead straight down to the sea front with lots There is a shuttle bus from the church if you cannot face the walk back up.

May 2014 - Residence Stefania B is located above the main area of the town. We enjoyed this location away from the tourist hustle and bustle but close enough with a bus ride and the stairs for a short walk in town.

The beds were comfortable, bathroom immaculate, and Wi-Fi great. The view is amazing. The parking is worth the fare.

The owner and mother are more than pleasant and helpful. They offered us fresh lemons from their garden, were helpful anytime was had questions and even had two stores for our own shopping needs.

We were very pleased with our experience with Summer in Italy. We have no complaints and will utilize it again in the future.

Travel tips

  • If you need a blow dryer or curling iron make sure to purchase one ahead of time that has the appropriate plug. I brought a converter and adapter and ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money as the power was never enough for my devices. Of course I don't think that's an issue with the apartment but rather the country.
  • I highly recommend taking a private boat tour around the coast and to Capri. It's not cheap but one of the best memories from our trip.

May 2014 - We had a wonderful stay at Residence Stefania B. I would highly recommend it.

The owners could not have been more helpful. We would like to go back next year too. Superb!

I have been very impressed with Summer in Italy, you made booking our holiday easy. I would certainly recommend using your services again.

Travel tips

  • Residence Stefania B has wonderful views, this does mean you are high up.
  • We got very fit on our holiday walking down to the beach and back.
  • There is a local bus, you buy tickets from the local tobacconist, however to get down to the beach form the bus stop is still a strenuous walk.

October 2013 - We loved our stay at Residence Stefania. We are very experienced vacation rental clients, and have rented in many cities in Europe, the US and Mexico. The apartment was among the best ever -- lovely, spacious, comfortable and VERY clean. The linens and beds were upscale, like a four star hotel. Rosita, the owner, gave us a fresh round of linens mid-way through our ten day stay.

The kitchen and bathroom were very up to date and well maintained. The kitchen was small, but very efficient, perfect for breakfast and snacking.

The furnishings and appliances were all great, like new. A bigger sofa in the living room might have been nice, as there were only two small love seats in an apartment meant for three people, but except for two days of crashing thunderstorms, we didn't stay inside much anyway. If we were in the apartment, we were out on the gorgeous terrace. Even in the rain, we enjoyed the terrace's dramatic views of lightning on the mountains and drifting clouds and mist. We've never had such a theatrical setting to watch weather. It was like being in a Wagnerian opera!

Rosita showed us the other apartments, Stefania, A and C, and all are just as great. We would definitely recommend any of them and if one were traveling with a larger group, renting two or all three would be a great way to be nearby but still in one's own space. (The top one, can't remember if it is A or C, has the best terrace views, but all are spectacular.) Also the excellent and spacious elevator makes being on the top floors no effort.

The other great thing about this complex is the fact that the family live in the same building, just below, and are delightful hosts. Both Rosita and her son, Stefano, speak excellent English and couldn't have been more helpful and solicitous for our comfort. It is most reassuring when in another country to have such nearby contact with hosts, both for convenience and those just-in-case situations.

The last great thing about this place is the ultra convenient location. We loved being recognized in the corner grocery store, whose owners kept recommending things for us to try, and helping with decisions at the deli counter. The little fruit stand across the street was great, as was the Bar Internazionale, always a lively local scene, all very fun and out of the typical tourist loop! It was also so convenient to be right where one could catch any bus, anywhere. Though it was fun to walk down town and then ride the bus home, we realized that staying in the touristy beach area would have been a much different and not so authentic Italian experience.

We have very much enjoyed working with this site for rentals, and would definitely do so again. We have done vacation rentals in many European cities and in Mexico and the US, at least ten or 12 times by now, and your site is by far the best. Very personal attention and help always at hand. Also loved being able to use my credit card so as to accrue points. Good job!

Travel tips

  • Take the local bus up to Montepertuso and Nocelle (stops just past the apartment entrance every hour on the half) to have lunch at La Tagliata -- an unforgettable experience! We liked lunch over dinner because it was less crowded and the views are so fantastic. And then after the multi course lunch, you can amble back down part way, walking off the food before catching the bus back down.
  • Also enjoyed the very close local trattoria, Restaurant C'era una Volta, which is on the left of the main road, just past the fruit stand back toward Sorrento about 100 yards. Federico is the English speaking waiter and he's a hoot. Lovely terrace (but we noticed the locals all ate inside). Great daily specials and seafood, also pizzas to eat in or take out.
  • Other restaurant not to miss is Restaurant Lo Guarracino, tucked up a set of steps along the cliff walk between Positano's two beaches. To feel like you have the whole seafront to yourselves, go early for lunch and sit on the smaller rustic terrace. Great seafood pizza, the best we've ever had.
  • It's a bit of a hassle to get to, but don't miss Ravello, also enjoyed a day in Amalfi, took the boat when we could to avoid the standing room only SITA buses. Couldn't believe still so many tourists in Oct!

September 2013 - Excellent, would love to have stayed on.

Stefano and his family [the owners], especially his mother, could not do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Nothing was too much bother from telling us about places to visit, buses, boats etc to making sure we could access the WiFi, to organizing our taxi back to the airport and taking our luggage to the taxi on the morning of departure and waving goodbye.

The apartment was spotless with everything we needed and the amazing views will always stay with us.

With the bus stop 2 minutes away was easy to get around.

Your help and advice from first making the booking has been first class Thank you for making the holiday stress free.

Travel tips

  • The Bar Internazionale was so helpful and perfect for picking up the fresh bakery in the morning. They make all the breads, pastries and savoury items on the premises.
  • The bus services are really good for getting around either the little local red bus or the Sita blue bus for trips further afield.
  • The restaurant C'era una Volta, just a few hundred metres along the road towards Sorrento is great for a relaxing meal and provides a great pizza take away service.
  • A must is to take the little red bus up to Nocelle, we were glad we followed past guests advice, the view is amazing.

June 2013 - Residence Stefania was terrific. We didn't spend a lot of time in the main apartment, but the terrace was amazing.

Location was great for the view and the close proximity to the bus that takes you up the hills.

Travel tips

  • If there is such a thing, buy a weeklong bus pass. Take the bus up the will and the stairs down if you want to do some walking.
  • Don't use Google Maps for the stairs - they are missing many of the options. Use Bing or Mapquest maps.

Fantastic

May 2013 - We enjoyed spending 10 days at Stefania B. The location was excellent - above the town with great views down to the town centre. Everything we needed was within walking distance - grocery store, vegetable market, bakery and restaurants. The inter-city bus stop, as well as the local one were located a few steps from our front door.

The apartment was ideal - clean, large and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking our own meals, and the balcony was huge, the ideal place to enjoy the scenery and enjoy a glass of wine. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, always willing to offer advice and assistance when needed.

Travel tips

  • The best/quickest way down to the town is to walk - either along the winding road or by one of the step paths. Coming back up, you can retrace your steps, or take the internal bus which runs every half hours and stops just steps away from the front door.
  • The apartment is on the third floor of the building, but there is an elevator so no need to worry about additional steps.

May 2012 - Residence Stefania B was fabulous. We were made to feel very welcome and given all the information about the local attractions we asked for.

The apartment was comfortable and the view from the balcony superb. I wish myself back there every day. It was well placed for trips to Capri, Sorrento and Amalfi.

Everything stated in the advertisement was accurate -- most important was the lift from the ground floor as our cases were very heavy. I will recommend the apartment to all my friends and hope to return one day.

Travel tips

  • Make sure you explore the little village of Positano and a visit to Stefano's [the owner] ceramic shop is a must. Both my friend and I bought dinner sets and they have arrived and are being used every day -- they remind me of a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world.
  • Have an espresso and pastry at the local bar on the corner and sit and watch the world go by.
  • Eat at the two local restaurants and be charmed by the local wandering musicians.

September 2010 - We really enjoyed our stay at Residence Stefania B. When we first arrived we were a little disappointed that we were not closer to the centre of town, but we soon realised that it was really nice to be out of the tourist centre and up amongst the locals.

Stefano [the owner] was a lovely host, so helpful and knowledgable and couldn't do enough for us.

We really enjoyed spending evenings at Bar Internazionale and the little restaurant next door.

It is an easy walk down to the town and the beach and with the local bus running constantly it was never a hassle to get home back to the apartment.

I thoroughly recommend Residence Stefania B and if we get the chance to return to Positano we will definitely be hoping to stay with Stefano again.

July 2008 - The apartment was very well located, within a short walk to the beach and shops, but just far enough away to avoid the large number of tourists.

It was a nice apartment - good to relax in.

Stefano (the apartment owner) was genuinely helpful, and always available.

The only downside is the cost, which at euro 1400 per week makes this pretty expensive in anyone's currency.

Summer In Italy was pretty good - I will recommend you.

Travel tips

  • The best restaurants are away from the centre of town, and there are three or four around the apartment you really should try. I really liked the new trattoria on the road towards Sorrento, 75 yards past Bar Internazionale.
  • Bar Internazionale is nice for breakfast.
  • Don't bother hiring a car - you won't use it. Everyone uses buses or ferries to move around the coast, all the way from Naples to Salerno. This is partly because the drivers in this region are probably the best/worst (whichever way you want to spin it) in Europe.
  • You can get a tour bus to Pompeii.
  • If you need to get to/from Naples central train station, take a taxi or bus. It is worth the expense, with several people I met saying the local train from Naples to Sorrento is like a trip on the NYC subway through the Bronx at night in the 70s- ie: dangerous.
  • In July and August, the summer weather is too hot for the walks in the mountains. If you want to do this, go in spring or autumn.
  • The apartment is nice- you will like it.

June 2008 - We had a great time! The residence was lovely and very well kept.

It was also in a great location - very central and convenient to the main town as well as to public transportation.

Also, the owners were friendly, attentive and very helpful.

Travel tips

  • There are a lot of steps down to the beach, but if you take the bus, the problem is remedied. The bus leaves a few steps from the doorstep and there is a great bar and also a restaurant nearby if you don't feel like going back into town.
  • There are also some fantastic restaurants about halfway down as well.
  • Day trips to neighboring towns (we went to Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi and Ravello) are easy, especially with the bus (beware of motion sickness if that applies to you though!).
  • Also, Ravello has summer concerts which are beautiful!

Travel tips

  • On the street below the apartment there is a grocery and a vegetable shop with wonderful fresh food for breakfast and meals.

Travel tips

  • Walking down the steps to the beach area is quick, but bypasses what we found to be the nicest part of town -- the stretch along the road from where the apartment is to before all the incredibly touristic businesses predominate.
  • Going up the mountain to Nocelle is beautiful, but check the return bus schedule before you get off.
  • In nearby Praiano, taking the steps down to the beach there is lovely.
  • Also walking up the mountain to Montepertuso.
  • All in all we found Positano itself overly touristy (not just the tourists, but the businesses that cater to them). Just not our cup of tea, although, of course, extremely beautiful.

September 2007 - The villa was excellent, a welcome relief from staying in a hotel.

There is plenty of space, a fantastic terrace and views to die for.

The landlord Mr Stefano was an excellent host, nothing was too much for him and he made us feel very welcome.

Anyone interested in staying in this part of Italy cannot go wrong with this property.

We booked through Summer in Italy simply through searching the web. Your service has been excellent and I especially liked all the details you gave us about how to reach the property and what to do on arrival. All in all a great trip and I will recommend this property and to use Summer in Italy. Thank you.

Travel tips

  • There are no end of fantastic restaurants, too many to choose the best, but we didn't have one bad meal. The shops/supermarkets near Stefania B are very reasonably priced, and I would recommend you get the essentials from here rather than in the centre of town.
  • Staying in this property you will have to get used to the steps, approx 700 down into the centre of Positano. There is an internal bus that goes from very near this property and takes you down into the centre and more importantly back up for 1 euro per trip. We tended to walk down (approx 15 mins) and get the bus back up.

June 2007 - We stayed at this place in 2004, and we returned, so we obviously liked it. The owner's family is very helpful, and will assist you and will answer your questions and help you with a car. While driving a car in Positano isn't the easiest thing in the world, it is possible, and the only way to explore the area. Don't let the Amalfi Coast scare you... the drivers actually seem a little better.

I would highly recommend Stefania B. Accept the steps as a challenge and healthy exercise because the view from the top at all hours of the day is incredible.

We used your website before. Italy is fantastic, and I don't know anyone who doesn't like Italy... how can you not like it?

Travel tips

  • Get out and walk and enjoy the area.
  • Nocelle, a small town above Positano, is worth the bus ride or car trip. Have lunch or dinner at the restaurant at the top and tip of the hill and you will see a most incredible view of Positano, the beach and the cliffs. This is one of the best views I have ever seen in my life anywhere in the world.

Positano was too busy, so we were glad not to be in the thick of it and preferred going to the restaurants around us and visiting the much celebrated Bar International -- which is smashing and makes you feel like you are not just a tourist.

Lovely area loads to do and see and bus stops very convenient. Very good place to be and the views are magnificent. Only down side no sun from 12 but if you don't mind that book it.

July 2005 - My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Stefania B.

In the beginning we thought we were a bit far from the town center but it is actually a perfect location because the local buses, and SITA buses stop right out front by the Bar Internazionale, and if you ever need any late night snacks, that Bar is open pretty late.

It was fun to walk down all those stairs to the town center and beach because you really get a feel of the nature of the town. On the way back up, you should walk along the road to explore a bit more instead of taking the stairs. The bus is always an option.

Stefania B also had a beautiful view of Positano, my friends couldn't believe the spectacular view we had.

June 2005 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stefania B.

We thought the location was perfect for using Positano as an Amalfi Coast base. With the bus stops very close by, we had no trouble getting where we needed to go.

In addition, we found everything we needed within a short distance: groceries, sundries, produce, a tabacchi, decent restaurants, public phones, and of course Bar Internazionale (which we visited several times per day).

The apartment is spacious, tastefully decorated, and nicely furnished. It was so nice to feel that we could unpack and spread out for a change while on vacation. The best feature, of course, is the large and lovely terrace with views of Positano and the coast. We spent many hours enjoying the view.

Stefano [the owner] was very helpful throughout our stay, providing suggestions on what to do and how to get around.

Our thanks to him and to his family for making this lovely home available for visitors to Positano. We hope those visiting in the future will enjoy it as much as we did!

Although we have traveled fairly extensively, this is the first time that we rented a vacation apartment or villa. Our experience was so positive that it has changed our expectations for how we travel; we are very likely to do again in the future.

We were very pleased with the services and communication from Summer in Italy. Your selection made it easy to find something that suited our needs. We found the property very much as described and depicted on your website. And your pre-arrival information (both via email and on the website) helped us prepare for and make the most of our stay.

June 2004 - Overall Stefania B was an excellent choice. The standard of the apartment was excellent.

The only downside was the distance from the town centre! A short distance relatively but very steep so be sure to be prepared for some lovely walks by road or a tough walk up the steps. This was all part of the charm in Positano though as anyone who visits automatically talks about the number of steps up to their apartment!! Incidently it was 84 steps from the road and a further 550 steps down to the town centre/ beach.

Lovely local bar right beside the apartment - Bar Internationale and nice restaurants further up the mountain if you want a variation on the town.

Don't even think about hiring a car - the roads are bad enough but the driving is really scary!

April 2004 - My girlfriend Victoria and I stayed in the apartment Stefania B in the last week of March. Summer In Italy arranged to have a car pick us up at Naples airport - well worth the extra cost, as the driver Claudio was lovely and helpful, and eliminated the stress of getting out of Naples to Positano - and the owner was at the apartmet to greet us. This was simple: Stefano [the owner] showed us where everything was and how everything worked and, for those of you whose Italian needs work, his English is superb.

The apartment is lovely. Perfect. A comfortable living room with fully equipped kitchen (not that we used the kitchen: we ate out every night, but it was nice to make a coffee or a sandwich in comfort); the bedrooms are comfortable and the bathroom is modern and includes a washing machine. The greatest part, for us, was waking up in the morning and stepping onto the large terrace for the first time. The view of Positano and the hills above is breathtaking, and worth the trip on its own. Really amazing.

Getting around from the apartment couldn't be easier. The local buses are frequent and good: and cheap - you can get to Amalfi, Sorrento etc for one Euro! Capri is an hour or so away, and stunning. Positano itself is beautifully unspoilt: steep steps all wind down to the beaches, which are small but stunning. Restaurants are plentiful, and the many we went to were all excellent. It is worth the trip up to Nocella in the hills above Positano: be breave and walk down the 1,700 steps from the old town back to Positano. Awesome views and you go through silent orange, olive and hazelnut groves.

Next to the residence is Bar Internazionale: have breakfast of homemade pastry and coffee here. Buy fresh fruit at the stroe on the corner. Get your papers from the shop next door.

It is a magical place and the apartment is perfect for exploring and relaxing. 10/10

October 2003 - Our stay in Positano was excellent!! Residence Stefania B was very nice, clean and quiet and also in a good location. The bus stop to get to Amalfi, Sorrento, and local bus down into Positano were just outside our door.

Bar Internazionale was just down the street as well and they make one of the best espressos in Italy--a great place for espresso and cornetto in the morning.

I loved my stay and look forward to returning to Italy again!

September 2003 - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Residence Stefania B.

The view from our terrace was perfect - sea and the mountains. We also loved our local bar ("Bar Internazionale") where we went for coffee each morning and met some of the locals.

The bus stop was just outside which was very handy for visiting some of the other places along the coast. All in all, it was the perfect mix of being close enough to things and yet having peace and quiet.

Thank you for all your help - we will definitely be planning another trip to Positano!

August 2003 - Residence Stefania B is a great place to stay if you're visiting the Amalfi Coast area.

It is a large, clean, spacious and newly renovated two-bedroom apartment. It has a large terrace with a fantastic view that overlooks the water and the mountains. The pictures on the Summer In Italy website are accurate but don't fully do Residence Stefania B justice.

Building management was very helpful and took time to get us acquainted with the area. Residence Stefania B is conveniently located next to the regional bus stop as well as the local bus stop. The beach is a short bus ride away while the more athletically inclined may choose to walk up and down the streets of stairways that connect Positano. One word of caution, Residence Stefania B is located on the upper floors of a three storey building that doesn't have an elevator. With all of the stairs in Positano (up and down to the beach and to our Residence), I definitely came back from my vacation in better shape.

I had an amazing time in Positano and I would recommend this Residence.

Unfortunately, Residence Stefania B can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
