August 2015 - I enjoyed my stay. The pool was great - large, deep and well maintained. The grounds were equally well looked after. Casa Livio B is very well placed for exploring southern Tuscany, near to main roads. We were in a village/small town next to a road. Many people would appreciate the ease of communications. The surrounding area was pleasant.

Travel tips

  • La Bucaccia, located in Cortona (Via Ghibellina), is a great restaurant. Difficult to book by email - suggest you go in person. It is worth the trouble.

September 2013 - Casa Livio B was a beautiful, comfortable Villa. There were three of us on the holiday and there was ample room with the most beautiful pool.

The beds were so comfortable, the fireplace warm and inviting for those cold nights and a well stocked kitchen. The villa is only gate access so obviously we were very secure.

The owners were very helpful - actually I was there for one day without a car and they took me shopping and asked each day if we needed a ride anywhere. You really do need a car for the best mobility.

I am very pleased with the service I was given by Summer in Italy, they responded quickly to all my questions right up to the last minute prior to the trip. Very helpful throughout the whole process and booking was very easy.

Travel tips

  • The owners do not speak English very well so brush up on your Italian!

June 2013 - We enjoyed our stay very much. Nicely situated to explore Tuscany. Nearby Cortona was one of our favourite towns.

Our host was most pleasant and gracious, thanks Simone!

Everything about Summer in Italy worked well for us.

Travel tips

  • Explore Cortona. It has some lovely places to eat and the views are unbelievable. Take a walk up to the monastery, but be aware that you can also drive there if you're not up for the walk.
  • We stayed in June, and didn't take air-conditioning and it wasn't missed.

July 2012 - We loved our time at Casa Livio B! It was just the right size for our group of seven and a great value for the money.

We really liked the owner, Simone, who took a very good care of us and was always quick to help.

The apartment was very clean and spacious, all the appliances worked as needed and expected. The garden area was well manicured and the pool was way better than I expected at this price range (over 3 m on the deep end).

The location is great - just a short drive from Cortona, far enough to guarantee peace and quiet, but close enough for a quick trip whenever needed. There are two grocery stores nearby where the food is quite affordable (at least comparing to Vienna where we live). Cortona is also a great base for day trips to Rome, Florence, Siena, Pisa, or Assisi. Since we like to stay active during our vacation this provided us with an excellent choice of options and a good balance between just resting and exploring.

The bathrooms were a bit on the small size and we didn't have hot water for one day (the issue was quickly solved by the owner though), everything else was excellent. This property does have AC available for extra charge and it was a lifesaver!

Travel tips

  • Do schedule the wine-tasting through the property owner - a great, family-like experience and a good wine, too.
  • Getting a train ticket at the Camucia train station is a bit complicated - the machine only takes cash and doesn't give change (instead, it issued a "credit" slip that can only be redeemed at a ticket counter. Since there is not one in Camucia, you need to do it at a larger station, which means LONG lines). It's best to get tickets online or have the exact change.
  • The best ice-cream shop in Cortona is not on the main street (where the majority of people go to by default), but in the square across from the Etruscan Museum.
