Spectacular place!

July 2016 - Other than the walk up the steps this is a spectacular place. By the way, we were properly warned about the steps!

June 2015 - Oh my goodness! We loved our stay at Casa Arabella!

The location (right off of the main square in Amalfi) can't be beat and the apartment had everything we could have ever wanted. We truly cannot recommend this location enough!

There are lots and LOTS of stairs to get up to the apartment but the beautiful views were well worth it. Plus, it helped us work off some of the pasta, pizza and wine that we enjoyed during our stay!

In a word, our entire stay was... PERFECT! We will definitely be back!

Summer In Italy entire staff has been wonderful! I am grateful to have found your site in my research before booking our trip. We truly could have not been happier with our stay. Thank you so much!

Travel tips

  • We had the autonomy of the apartment and the local staff there helped us with all of our excursions and made several recommendations for us.
  • Amalfi is the perfect middle ground to visit Capri, Positano, Pompeii and all the rest but honestly, our favorite days were just hanging down at the beach at one of the beach clubs soaking up the sun, culture and beautiful view.

October 2014 - Casa Arabella is a great place to stay in Amalfi, and Amalfi is a good choice for the area.

The apartment is large, convenient and modern. The terrace is incredible. The area is nice, close to everything. All the appliances work, the views are great, there is even air-conditioning, but we did not need it in October.

There are fair number of stairs to climb to get to the apartment, but it has all been properly reported by Summer In Italy on the web site. It is very much manageable and is a useful exercise for an average healthy adult or a school age child (my child was 12).

The apartment managers, Alfonso and Katia, are super nice.

Summer In Italy is doing a great job, thank you for your help!

Travel tips

  • The little bakery at the street level next to stairs is excellent, you should definitely try it for breakfast.

Very good

July 2014 - We enjoyed Casa Arabella.

It is in a perfect location, close to the main square but quiet because it was high up. Only issue is I didn't pay attention to the warning about stairs. There are a lot of stairs to climb. It was really hard with luggage.

Book process was simple. Communication and follow up were professional. Will definitely use Summer In Italy again.

Fantastic

July 2014 - We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Arabella.

The apartment is right in town so easy walking distance to restaurants/ shops.

The view from the terrace is really nice, much nicer than the photos! From the small terrace off the master bedroom you get a really nice view of the church as well, really pretty, especially at night. :)

Travel tips

  • Really enjoyed it but be aware that there are a lot of stairs to get there! It is quite a hike but the view is beautiful!

July 2014 - Great location and attic. Casa Arabella is very modern and updated, we felt like home.

Alfonso [the owner] was awesome.

Wish we didn't have to leave. Great experience!

Travel tips

  • Be prepared for lots of stairs. Definitely worth it once at the top.

Very good

May 2014 - Casa Arabella was nice and clean.

We enjoyed the marvelous terrace and the stairs up to the apartment gave the opportunity to come in a good shape.

Travel tips

  • We can recommend to walk down to Amalfi from Ravello, which takes about one hour.
  • We can also recommend a day trip to Paestum - by boat to Salerno and then by train to Paestum.

September 2013 - Casa Arabella is a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the Amalfi coast. Be ready for the stairs, but they place you away from the touristy main piazza area and into a residential area where you can live as if at home.

The apartment is spacious, very pleasantly furnished and well maintained. The views from the two terraces are awesome.

Very easy to get groceries, supplies, fresh fruit and pastries from three shops as soon as you step onto the main street.

Highly recommended!

The Summer In Italy site works well, the staff was excellent with communication. The entire housing experience was positive.

Travel tips

  • The SITA busses work very well when leaving for places early in the AM, but are often full from midday (with students) on so ferries are better then.
  • Move around Amalfi in the small, covered allies on both sides of town.
  • Restaurant Il Teatro, Restaurant L'Abside and Restaurant Buonvicino all had friendly service and great food and wine.
  • Sentiero degli Dei was sensational as was Vietri sul Mare.

August 2013 - We all absolutely loved Casa Arabella! It was beautiful!

We arrived to a very clean and inviting apartment. It was more impressive in person than on the web even! The fact that it was air conditioned made it even better.

Everything worked nicely. Having three full bathrooms made it so convenient. We had one issue with the washing machine and the property management responded in an appropriate time.

The friendly locals in Amalfi made our experience so wonderful. We are hoping to rent this place again next year because we loved it so much!

Travel tips

  • I would make a note to mark that this has a very long staircase to walk with no handicapped facilities. We were all young fitness enthusiast except for one older woman that struggled to walk the stairs, but fortunately she was able. Some Americans aren't always as active as they should be.

March 2013 - We had a great time at Casa Arabella. It was lovely to wake up to the sounds of bells and roosters and to look at the sea and the cathedral every morning and evening.

We were the first guests to use the apt after it had been refurbished. The bathrooms were great. Although some of the details weren't finished, the apt was clean and bright. There's lots of room in the bedrooms, plenty of closet space. Nice light. The kitchen had everything we needed. There's even an extra little fridge in one of the bedrooms.

I believe that the apartment will fit 9 people once the other bathroom and small bedroom are finished. It would be great for a family or group of friends. There's plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.

We were there in March so we needed the heat, which worked great. Although we did not turn them on, there are 2 flat screen TVs.

Stove-top was easy to use. There's a microwave, fridge and sink in a kitchen unit that hides behind doors.

Both of the bathrooms that were finished had small showers, a toilet, bidet and sink.

Washing machine on the patio worked fine and we hung the clothes to dry while looking at the terraced lemon groves and mountainside. There's a great view from the washing machine!

Summer in Italy was easy to work with. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to recommend Casa Arabella to others. We found Summer in Italy on the Slow Travel website. Thanks for the great vacation!

Travel tips

  • Guests need to make sure that they can handle the 147 steps every day. We have desk jobs but hike on the weekends and exercise during the week. However, the steps in Amalfi will wear you out! Make sure you combine trips. We tried to climb those apt stairs only once a day. The exception was when we heard singing one evening and ran down stairs to find the local procession through town for the stations of the cross during pre-Easter week festivities. Wonderful.
  • Tall people need to be careful in the bedroom. The ceilings slant down to the head of the bed and it's very easy to bang your head. I did this twice and I am only 5 foot, 5 inches.
  • The town of Amalfi was a great base for exploring the coast. We did a lot of hiking and the buses are easy to take on those glorious roads to the other towns. There are nice hikes to Torre delle Ziro, Pontone and much more.
  • We had great visits to Ravello and Paestum. For Paestum, do not take the bus from Salerno -- take the train! The Tourist Information at Paestum does not recommend the unreliable buses. We learned the hard way. The train back was a breeze and the cost is the same.
  • In Amalfi, we particularly enjoyed Restaurant L'Abside for dinner or lunch. They had lovely food and were helpful with wifi and suggestions. Always a pleasant experience.
  • Maria at Milleunaceramica was kind and recommended some dining options. Lovely handmade ceramics in her shop.
  • La Bottega dei Ferrari has wonderful cheese and a lovely helpful proprietress.
  • Amalfi residents and business people were very warm and helpful as a rule.

September 2011 - The outdoor spaces were wonderful, the views could not have been better.

We appreciated having the washing machine very much. The bathroom was great. The kitchen was just the right size to keep in good order on vacation! Signor Alfonso [the owner] was wonderful, his niece Maria extremely helpful, and all the staff were very nice to us.

Staying in Amalfi was a great experience. So many people were very sweet to us.

We appreciated how truthfully you represented the apartment and yourselves. I would recommend your service to anyone and already have.

Travel tips

  • Don't underestimate the stairs! Especially with groceries and maybe running around other towns all day - you do need to be in good shape.
  • Make sure someone shows you carefully how to unlock all the doors.
  • There are two supermarkets - the Deco supermarket is almost opposite the stairs to the street from the apartment in a tiny alley and closed on Sundays. The other is in Piazza dei Dogi in the corner. Neither are straightforward to find. We also used the Alimentari in Piazza dei Dogi and two of the greengrocers on the main street.
  • The pharmacy in Piazza dei Dogi has a huge selection of gluten free food, (the pharmacy just off Piazza Flavio Gioia has a much smaller selection).
  • Restaurant La Perla (just downstairs) will cook gluten free pasta on request.

July 2010 - We really enjoyed the say at Casa Arabella. The apartment is very well described on the web site and we found it even more pleasant when we arrived.

Travel tips

  • It is a lot of stairs, so be aware of that.
  • We had a car, it was not optimal. Roads are narrow and buses are big... The owner fixed a garage for us for 20 euro a day and we only used the car once in a week. It is better to use the SITA bus or boats.
  • The service was great, Alfonso [the owner] was only a phone call away if we needed anything.

July 2010 - We loved staying at Casa Arabella and would recommend it to anyone. You truly feel part of the Amalfi community and have a bird's eye view on all the goings on around you! The apartment is roomy and well-equipped and a haven on hot summer's days.

The owner was very helpful and so friendly that it made us feel right at home. He even lugged our huge, heavy suitcases up the stairs!

I hope to be back at Casa Arabella one day in the not to distant future!

Internet search came up with your website. The communication with us was great, we knew what to expect and the information was correct and presented in a very friendly way. It was a pleasure organising our accommodation through your company and we would recommend you to anybody.

Travel tips

  • The bus service to nearby towns is excellent, so take time to visit all the picturesque neighbouring villages.
  • The service at the paid beaches are friendly and very good.
  • The food at the village restaurants are super.
  • Remember that the supermarkets close for the siesta in the afternoons.

October 2008 - It is OK, be prepared to make your way up there, a lot of steps to climb.

Local staff is quite friendly and helpful.

The shower is a low point, sort of stuck in a closet.

August 2008 - The apartment was very good.

My only advice is to get fit before arriving as there are 145 steps to the apartment although this is good compared to some of the other rental accommodation.

We had a wonderful holiday there.

June 2008 - We had a fantastic time at Casa Arabella.

The apartment is beautiful. It's spacious and had lots of storage. It was very clean and tidy.

The terrace is fantastic with the most beautiful views.

We will definitely be going back to stay there, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Thank you for everything, I would book with Summer In Italy again.

Travel tips

  • There are a lot of steps up to the apartment so it may not be suitable for people not in good health.

Unfortunately, Casa Arabella can not be booked at this time.

We would love to help you find a suitable alternative. Please be in touch for personal advice from our staff!
