We had a wonderful stay

May 2018 - We had a wonderful stay at Appartamento Vaniglia C. The views from the apartment are exceptionally good, both at night and during the day time. Be prepared for all the steps up to the apartment and in the town, they certainly test your legs!

It was lovely, we didn’t want to come home and wish we’d been able to stay another week. Overall a really lovely place, we would definitely love to return one day. 😀

Silvia and her husband [the caretakers] couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and provided us with excellent information on the local area. We arrived very late after a delayed flight and a long drive in the rain and mist. We had taken tea bags to make a drink but as it was so late hadn’t been able to buy any provisions, it would have been nice to have a little milk in the fridge on arrival. Silvia picked us up one morning on her way to school with her son as we were waiting for a bus to Amalfi, we’d missed the early one. Allow at least 10 minutes to get to the stop from the Santa Rosa Monastery.

Would definitely use Summer In Italy again if visiting Italy - excellent service for every aspect of our stay.

Travel tips

  • Conca dei Marini is a quiet town well positioned for visiting Amalfi, Ravello, Praiano and Positano.
  • We had a hire car, though occasionally used the frequent buses as the driving in the area at certain times of the day could be frantic - especially on the numerous hair pin bends!
  • Kitchen equipment was adequate, we ate in most nights during our stay.
  • Prices of food, both supermarket and eating out, were much cheaper than anticipated.

Great view!

May 2018 - Great view! Lots of steps to get up, but it's worth it. We were there in the beginning of May and could enjoy dinners and breakfasts on the terrace, which is pretty small but with amazing views.

Very good service from Silvia and her husband [the caretakers]. Thank you!

We got a great service from Summer In Italy, thank you!

Travel tips

  • Amalfi is nearby, just 10 minutes drive away. From there you can enjoy a ferry trip to Capri. Also, the town of Amalfi is very beautiful and picturesque.
  • Remember to get to Ravello and visit its beautiful two gardens. The town itself is very beautiful too.
  • The Emerald Grotto worth a visit!

Had a great time!

March 2017 - We had a great time in this place. The welcome was friendly and full of advice to enjoy our stay.

Situation of Conca dei Marini is excellent to make day trip all around the coast by bus or car. We were in low season so we can't imagine what it looks like in summer but it should be crowded as all the coast is car, park is very useful.

Our main critics would go to the shower curtain which is artistically installed but totally inefficient and bed in the main bedroom really hard. The place is very well equipped.

We definitely recommend this apartment for the view.

Travel tips

  • Do not miss Nino and his specialties near the post office.

Very good

August 2014 - We found Appartamento Vaniglia C suitable and enjoyed our stay there.

The apartment is clean and more or less spacious (but not small). The kitchen is well equipped (with electric mixer bowl, juicer, etc.), the washing machine is available.

The terrace is nice (even if there is often a lot of wind) and offers a splendid view over the bay of Conca dei Marini and the sea (you cannot see the beach instead).

Travel tips

  • If you have the chance to go there at the beginning of August, don’t miss the village festival where you will be able to sample the local gastronomy products. We had a great time!
  • Lots of steps down to the beach (for young people it's quite bearable) but the landscapes worth it.
  • The beaches of Conca dei Marini have difficult accesses (minimum 300 steps) but are the most beautiful of the coast.
  • As the afternoon sunshine go down quite early on the beaches of Conca dei Marini, we also went to the beach in the neighboring village of Maiori. The beach is easily reachable but the scenery is much less beautiful.

Very good

October 2013 - It is a very nice appartment with a wonderful view on the sea.

In the kitchen you will find everything you need. From the small balcony you can enjoy the warm nights with a fantastic view.

Travel tips

  • The stair to the apartment is very small. But normally this is no problem.

Excellent

December 2011 - We enjoyed our stay - the view from the apartment is absolutely amazing! The best view I have ever enjoyed from any place I have visited!

The landlord, Ms. Silvia, does not understand English, but we managed anyway and it just gives the experience a very local feeling to it. The SummerinItaly company has also been very professional all the way.

The only downside was the kitchen's equipment, we lacked a chopping board, garlic press, grater and a decent knife - this is quite poor, if you plan to make your own dinner every night. But all in all a great vacation I will recommend strongly!

Travel tips

  • We are very happy to hear that the vacation was overall a success, and we would like to take up this opportunity to share an often overlooked tip with all travellers going to a private holiday home in Italy: don't be afraid to ask! While it is true that Italians press garlic directly in their saucepans with the bottom of a glass, it is also true that the more a private home gets rented out, the more some items have a tendency to disappear. Home owners are always happy to replace any missing item, when they find out -- they just need to know. If "garlic press" it's too hard to pronounce in Italian -- schiacciaaglio, not exactly in every travel phrasebook -- don't forget that our English-speaking staff is just a local phone call away: let us know, and we will make it happen!

Great job!

  • Local shops are well stocked and much less pricey than in Amalfi.
