You will enter the apartment climbing an external terracotta-tiled stairway of 16 steps, which will take you to a characteristic covered loggia with terracotta columns. From this loggia you will be able to admire a nice view of the surrounding hills, including the profile of San Gimignano, with its famous crown of high medieval towers.

Through the loggia you will enter the living room. The decoration is airy and luminous, with floors which are the color of the sky, white curtains made of linen and lace, paintings and items selected with care and fantasy by the owner, and that add a personal touch and charm to the whole.

The Il Riccio apartments are part of a farmhouse located on the gentle hillside, at a height of 200 meters (650 feet).

The farmhouse is surrounded by 4 hectares (10 acres) of vineyards, olive groves and woods, and it is located in a panoramic position on the slopes of a hill, just a few kilometers from the medieval burg of San Gimignano.

Once you are past the entrance gate, you will see a green lawn decorated with terracotta jars and pots full of flowers, and marked by a few pathways flanked by rose bushes. At the end of the lawn you will find the beautiful and large ancient building, made of stone and terracotta.

In ancient times the building use to be a fortified monastery, located on the road that pilgrims going to Rome had to follow. This is quite evident if you look at the remains of an ancient tower, nowadays incorporated in the building.

The large house has been skillfully renovated and divide into four apartments, all of them with an independent entrance and reserved external areas. Three of these apartments are being rented out, while the owners of the estate reside in the fourth one.

On the side of the garden, at a slightly lower level, you will find the swimming pool, hidden from the view by a hedge. It is almost circular, placed on the side of the hill and surrounded by an amphitheatre of green lawns.

You will find this location particularly suggestive, because when you are by the pool you will be able to see only the blue of the water and the green of lawns, trees and vineyard, and you will be able to relax and enjoy the sun all day long. By night you will be able to swim in the illuminated pool, and the place acquires even more charm.

At the farmhouse you will be able to taste the produce of the estate: Chianti wine of the Sienese hills and extra virgin olive oil.

You will also be able to use a pizza oven and a portable barbecue.

The swimming pool has a sinuous shape and is deep from 10 centimeters (4 inches) to 1.4 meters (4.6 feet). The area is equipped with sun umbrellas, sun loungers, an hammock and an external shower. From the swimming pool you will enjoy an enchanting view of the surrounding countryside. You will share the pool with the other guests staying at the complex. The swimming pool is open from mid-May until the end of September.

The garden is 2000 square meters (21500 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by ancient olive trees. In the garden you will find a brickwork barbecue and a wood-fired pizza oven. From the garden you will enjoy an enchanting view of the Tuscan countryside and of the hills. You will share the garden with the other guests staying at the complex.

The living room is paved with lucid sky-blue tiles. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable, and include some antique pieces. The furnishings include a sofa and two armchairs. The dining table can accommodate four guests. In this room you will find a satellite television (local channels). The room has a window with a view of the garden and of the surrounding green fields.

You will be able to enter the kitchen from the living room. It is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, an Italian-style coffee-maker, an American-style coffee-maker (bring your filters!), a toaster and other small appliances.

You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the living room. The furnishings are romantic and elegant. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has a window with a view of the greenery and of the hills. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a hydromassage shower.

You will be able to enter the second bedroom from the living room. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable, and include some antique pieces. It has two twin beds (80 cm/32 inches). The furnishings include a desk. The room has a window with a view of the garden and of the hills. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, spacious and equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a bathtub with shower wand. Here you will also find a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board.
