Trattoria da BrunoIn the heart of charming Citta' della Pieve, Trattoria da Bruno seems to shun the overall ambiance of the town. No rustic touches, no arched ceilings or architectural accents. Instead, it's a rather sterile setting where the focus goes fully on the food instead of the atmosphere. Everything is strictly and exactingly homemade according to regional recipes. It offers the area's unique blend of Umbrian and Tuscan fare, where the preferred pasta is pici, long thick hand-made strands sauced with ragu' or porcini mushrooms, among other toppings. Or the pappardelle (wide noodles) with wild boar or rabbit sauce are good regional hill fare. The risotto might be with asparagus or porcini, depending on the season. Grilled or roasted meats are favored. A daily menu is also recited and worth paying attention to. Service can be a little on the slow side, but that's because it's so popular and everything is made fresh.
