Restaurant Osteria La PievinaOsteria La Pievina is a rustic country osteria in the lunar-like hills between Asciano and Siena. This down-home eatery offers 3 set menus of abundant, traditional fare at good prices. Everything is included in the price - from antipasto to dessert and everything in between (even the vino!) Choose the seafood menu for 50 Euros per person, the meat menu for 40 Euros or the vegetarian menu for 30 Euros. Then sit down and wait for the plates to appear. Lots of them! Specialties include cacciucco, a Tuscan seafood stew, tagliolini with lobster sauce and grilled prawns. For the meat eaters, the Tuscan preferred pasta is pici, thick hand-rolled strands that come with sauce enhanced with a beef/pork combo or a wild boar sauce, followed up by rabbit or chicken cacciatore (among other ample options to choose from). Vegetarians will swoon over the gnocchi with truffle sauce, the pici with porcini mushrooms, or the vegetable torte with artichoke cream. They also have several hearty legume dishes that are tasty and satisfying. If you want real country Tuscan fare at honest prices, this is the place. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.
