A twisty walk down the pedestrian lanes of San Gimignano, off Via San Giovanni, is where you'll find the Restaurant Le Vecchie Mura. A friendly, rustic yet trendy restaurant that's been satisfying palates since 1982, you'll find an equal mix of locals and tourists drawn by the fabulous food and the stylish ambiance. Dine in the cozy stone room that was once a horse stables, or outside on the terrace with outstanding views of the gorgeous Tuscan countryside.

The house specialties include the cinghiale alla vernaccia (chunks of tender wild boar marinated in San Gimignano's noted Vernaccia white wine), ribollita (hearty Tuscan soup), tagliatelle noodles with porcini mushrooms, and cervo (venison) in a slow-simmered wine sauce. They also feature the famed Bistecca Fiorentina, the amble slab of Florentine steak that is a meat-eater's grilled dream come true.

Closed Tuesday. Le Vecchie Mura will prepare celiac-friendly dishes on request.
