Le Macine is in Ascea Marina, near the archeological site of Velia, and just about a kilometer from the beaches. It inhabits an old olive mill and takes it name from the "macine," mill stones, that are sprinkled throughout the restaurant. Locals say that here you'll eat well and pay little for the pleasure (si mangia bene, si paga poco).
They use only local products to cook up their delicious dishes, including ravioli stuffed with seafood or hand-made trofie pasta with clams and zucchini flowers. Just-caught fish is roasted, baked, grilled and fried. Local wines and liqueurs made in house enhance the meals.
Le Macine is open for lunch and dinner. They have a smaller salon where they occasionally host special wine tasting events.
