The pinacoteca nazionale is the art gallery that displays treasures by artists from Bologna, the Emilia Romagna region, and from other parts of Italy. It is housed in the former Jesuit seminary in the university district with its walls decorated by paintings that came mainly from churches and monasteries. It highlights the local talent, but also has paintings by Giotto, Raffaello, Carracci and Guido Reni to appreciate as well.

The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 PM til 7:00 PM; Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM til 7:00 PM. Closed Monday.
