A rollicking fun festival is held every year at the end of June in the Ponte a Egola part of San Miniato, where they literally roll out the barrel. The Palio del Cuoio is a race of the wine barrels, weighing 70 kilos, and being pushed in a contest of strength and spirited fun. The contest pits the districts against each other and the winner gets the "cuoio" - painted leather banner.

The festivities last for a week, starting with the "sfilata dei rioni" - a costumed parade of each district through the streets. There are street fairs, food stands and dancing in the piazza as part of the fun.
