One of the oldest villages in the area, Massa e Cozzile is a stone stronghold that dates back to the third century. It sits in the Apennines, surrounded by chestnut groves, stands of olive trees, staked-out vineyards, and fields of grain. It has a storybook castle as its centerpiece. The medieval village retains the charm and mystery of the Old World in its narrow lanes and stone buildings. The old city gates, that once were closed at night and in times of peril for protection, are still intact - Porta ai Campi and Porta Fontanta were once the only routes into the town.

It has a position near two famous spa towns - Montecatini Terme, known for its curative mineral waters, and Monsummano Terme, renowned for its skin-clearing mud. It is close to Pescia and the imagination-captivating Pinocchio Park. Massa e Cozzile sits at the edge of the Parco Naturale Padule di Fucecchio, a nature park with trails, views and unusual plants.

Stroll through the ancient streets and enjoy the atmosphere of this attractive town, which retains a population of about 300!
