One of the longest beaches in northern Sicily, this one at Campofelice di Roccella extends for about 6 kilometers. Reaching from Himera to the Cape Plaia, it is an uninterrupted stretch that alternates sand and pebbles. The beach right below the town is lovely, with a nice seafront promenade and you can swim in the shadow of the centuries' old tower that sits on the shoreline. There are sections of free beach and sections outfitted with umbrellas and chairs that you can rent. The beach is easily accessible and ideal for families as the water deepens gradually. There is a peculiar phenomenon here called the "raggio verde" where the evening sun casts a green tint onto the sky for a few seconds.
