Known for its lengthy expanses of sandy beaches, Balestrate offers loads of space, free access beaches as well as lido clubs with umbrellas and chairs, and super-clear water to enjoy.

There are two sections - La Forgia, and Contrada Forgitella. La Forgia heads to the east from the town, and provides large expanses that are mostly undeveloped and without concession providers. Backed by green macchia brush, it's for those who like a more natural, uncluttered beach.

Heading the opposite direction from the port is contrada Forgitella, a bit more difficult to reach because of the railroad line, so a car or bus ride is the easiest way, or you if you like a good walk, it's about a mile from town. This is where you'll find more lido providers with umbrella and sunbed rentals, restaurants or snack bars, showers and such, though there are still free beaches here, too. Forgitella is where the nightlife happens, as the lido bars turn into discos at night for parties and dancing.

Whichever you choose, be there for sunset; after all, Balestrate is called "the town of sunsets."
