On the promontory above the Gulf of Baratti, the archeology park of Baratti and Populonia is one of the few Etruscan sites on the Tuscan coast. The remains of ancient civilizations are scattered among the Mediterranean foliage and set off by the brilliant blue of the sky and sea.

Paths lead among various epochs of development of the Etruscan towns and subsequent Roman settlements. There are areas of necropoli, each in different styles, that contained a wealth of objects. The oldest remains date to the 7th century BC. Tombs, temples, an acropolis, ancient baths, and cave-dwellings are some of the fascinating things you'll discover at the Parco Archeologico di Baratti e Populonia.

The "industrial area" was a true working industry zone where the Etruscans and Romans produced iron and mineral-based products.

The entire complex of archeological sites extends over 80 acres, some of the ruins are right at the beach!
