• We really enjoyed the short drive into Agropoli for shopping. It is a much larger city than we expected. There was a farmers market open daily that had reasonable prices on fruits and vegetables. The marina and pier are a must to see as well as the old town.
• We also enjoyed visiting the small coastal towns that were nearby.
• The ruins of Paestum, Herculaneum, and Pompeii were an easy drive away.

• Make sure you get Anna [the caretaker] to cook you pizzas.
• A car is essential! We had a car, but were still surprised how far out of Agropoli the villa was [5 km/3 miles]. It made for breathtaking views though. Well worth it.

• If travelling out of season be sure to pack winter woollies!
• Villa Gioconda is an ideal place to relax and unwind and truly sample the delights of Southern Italy.

• Near Paestum are the many mozzarella di bufala producers where one can purchase the cheese as well as see it being made.
• The nearby pizzeria is open on week-ends during the slow season, don't miss the pizza there on Saturday or Sunday night.
• Restaurant King's, just a couple of minutes down the road, is good and inexpensive, too.
